That's why everybody memes about it, because Skyrim is so shit that the only way to have fun playing it is to ignore the combat entirely.
>>735085852Well, that's one thing, but also, because the build system (I guess you can call them builds - specializations they certainly are not however) works in a way that you can be everything, every single character is a stealth archer in denial. In some other game if you max out INT and dump STR and DEX, you probably should focus on spellcasting. Not in Skyrim: at any given moment, no matter what you have done prior, you are better off equipping a bow, going into stealth, and at least starting combats by sniping. And no matter how many points you have put to other things, you will then increase your stealth and archery levels, and after a while it's no longer worth it to swap weapons and you're a fully graduated stealth archer.

Honestly found that if you level up the one-handed and block enough, get all the perks, the game gets pretty quick and fun. Slowing time and knocking people over with blocks is cool, and with the one handed bonuses you tend to blend most enemies quickly in like two or three hits. Usually pair with smiting+enchant since you can raise those pretty quickly, so even the HP sponge enemies aint that bad. And if you bother to use shouts, even just fus ro dah, you'll have fun flinging people around anyway. And the other shouts can be fun to use too.It's not the most amazing combat system in the world, but if you actually engage with it, it has a pulpy dumb fun to it as you run through dungeons ripping enemies apart with speed.
