How did it feel to get a GameCube on launch day?
>>735085426getting a gamecube with mario sunshine on christmas was one of my greatest memories but when I told my dad that he said he doesn't even remember itand he wonders why I don't talk to him or care that he has cancer
Disc Read Errorreturn it for PS2Disc Read Error againreturn it for DreamcastDisc Read Error one more timer
>>735085551>find out you are just a retard putting the discs in upside down
>>735085426i went to see it at walmart
>>735085426It was probably trash. The gamecube was gay compared to the N64. I got a PS2 instead
>>735085426It felt good until you realized nintendo betrayed Rare because they were butthurt about getting assmogged for two gens and didn't want thirds
>>735085678Would you get it in like 2004 thoughbeit?
>>735085426>GameCubePlay Star Wars Rouge Leader because Luigi's Mansion was a disappointment
>>735085426Disappointment when you realize a: Its major titles (Sunshine, Prime, Wind Waker) wouldn't be out for another year or more, and b: multiplats were going to suck because of a lack of buttons on the controller.
>>735085623It still cracks me up to think back to the amount of people that destroyed PsP games thinking the plastic housing was an anti theft device and ripped it open only to realize it was needed to put the game in the psp and play
>>735086042Silver edition was pure sex
Oldfag from 2022 hereIdk I was born in 2006 that console is mad old
Can I answer if I got mine for Christmas 2001? Star Wars Rogue Squadron II looked incredible, better than anything on PS2 at the time.
>>735085426It was cool, the graphics of rogue leader were mind-blowing. Luigi's mansion sucked. Thps3 controlled like ass.
>>735085623This reminds me that there are people who would take discs out of the case by just ripping them out instead of pressing the little button to release it.
>>735085678The manly console to have was the og xbox in that generation though (Dreamcast was for hipsters)
>>735086483Dreamcast was already dead when the 6th gen actually started and owners of one had to migrate to another console. I went from Dreamcast to Xbox myself,
>>735085426>go to midnight release>only about 12 people in linehehI had fun playing that hockey game for a couple hours before going to sleep though
>>735085426I got mine for Christmas '02 when I was 13, I was asked if I wanted a PS2, Xbox or GC and like a retard I chose GC, got a dreamcast the previous year and honestly had more fun with that then the gamecube. Only games I really played on it was melee, wind Waker and double dashh
>>735086554Based. Watching this ad on TV (plus another one with game previews that I can't find on youtube) convinced me to buy it:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9i1iNI7FIHA
>>735086632your fault for having shit taste, faggot
>>735086632I wouldnt regret that choice though
I didn't buy one until they were $99
I was still a Nintendo fanboy back then, so obviously got excited when i got it, with Rogue Squadron and Luigi's Mansion. On Christmas got an extra controller and Melee as gifts. Of course, the magic faded away a couple of years later, and that was basically the last time i got excited for a Nintendo home console.
It was awesome
>>735085426>WHERE THE FUCK IS MY ONLINE?
>>735085426i wouldn't know, MGS2 came out 1 week before the gamecube and i actually had my priorities in order as a kid. i got a gamecube way later and ended up only using it for Crystal Chronicles, Twin Snakes, and the GBA adapter.
>>735085426Pre Brawl launch is unbeatable, but Melee in the GCN launch window was very hype as well. I feel like the Melee in the first year is an entirely different game, before the emergent gameplay.
>>735086665I just wanted a way to play Shenmue II, as I was too young and stupid to mod my DC or pirate the game, so I waited for the Xbox port in 2002. Pic related is still the best pack-in of all time. What other console came bundled with a platformer and full fledged sim-cade racer?
>>735085426This was back when there was actually a big leap in graphics between console gens.Luigi's Mansion's graphics blew my mind.
>>735085426Sad because i only had enough money for the cube but nothing else. Luckily my mom rented me luigis mansion, but that game is scary when youre playing for the first time on an unfamiliar controller and without a memory card
>>735085426I can't say, but I asked for one in late 2003, alongside with GBA:SP, because I was literally being hospitalized for weeks, and my old folks were afraid I might die.
>>735087997wow you're well and you had a GC and GBA SP in one go, bravo
>>735085426>beat loogies mansion in less than 2 hours>play rogue squadron for 40 minutes, then bored>go back to playing halo and doa3 on xbox>games look way better on xbox and are more fun for multiplayerEnded up being true for the rest of the generation.
>>735085426Pretty awesome. I mowed grass and siphoned gas through all of spring/summer to save up to buy one. Camped out at Waljew (luckily the line was in customer service and I was first in line), got some pizza on the bike ride home and played Rogue Squadron until the sun game up. Good times.
>>735086335>>735086394>>735086927Yeah I got the gamecube with rogue leader for my 10th birthday. It was fucking incredible going from rogue squadron to that opening death star run on RL
>>735085426I (my parents) bought it for Rogue Leader and never regretted it. It was great. Had to buy a second one because my console died after 3 years.
i liked ati, so it was cool that the cube graphics were done by them
>>735085426Pretty shit, it was just Luigi's Mansion(short) and the Star Wars game until Smash came out a month later. That's when things got real.
>gamecube>not cube>dafuq?
>>735085426I don't know
