https://direct.playstation.com/en-gb/leasingLeasing Sony consoles is already being prototyped as a model in several markets including the UK. This is real. Will you suffer this last indignity?
They commit to it as the only option, it'll push everybody to PC. I say do it!
Also Best Buy has been leasing Playstations for over a decade already
This isn't really an "indignity" that someone who plays games regularly needs to care about unless they start making it the only option. As long as you can buy a console outright, this should have no impact on you. That said it does speak strongly for one more unhealthy step into the world of subscription payments and debt that people continue to get themselves into.
>>735089630I like how it's called FlexLike damn people are really gonna flex that they're poor like that?
YOU WILL OWN NOTHING
Couldn't you get consoles from gamefly at one point?
it's been a thing for decades
>>735089775Thats irrelevant though as Bestbuy is not the manufacturer
>>735089630Snoys will gladly pay 120 installments of $10.99(starting from) and then gloat about their PS5 as if it's some god system online
>>735090289The funny thing is they will charge for the system and then charge for the online on top of it
Watch the price of PS6 be like $5000 to buy outright
>>735089707Same thing is going to happen to pcs.
>>735089630You VILL own NOTHING!
>lease ps5>pay $10>play astrobot>cancel and return it at the end of the monthi don't see the issue
>>735089630In case anyone here doesn't understand, Flex is not the same as putting the PS5 on layaway. You will not own the console at the end of the leasing period, and you're going to be paying more than you would have to actually own it.
>>735089630>Leasing consoles>is already being prototypedhow long have you been in a coma?
>you're in control!>pay us or return the console
>>735089630You will own nothing, goyim.
>It's on the official Sony websiteFuck, and I thought it being a tweet was just a one off thing
Just win a Fortnite tournament with a rented PS5. You'll practically keep it til the PS6 is ready.
>>735091409You bought the Horse Armor DLC as well, right?
The worst is yet to come.Eventually employers won't even bother offering "wages", it will be monthly budgets for subscriptions and they'll pay things for you as long as you're within your allotted "salary".
>>735091737>he thought sony would stop advertising "you will own nothing"
>>735091609Obviously this is from the manufacturer. We know there were pay to buy places and Best Buy who did these kinds of scams. But I don't like where this is heading when Sony is doing it themselves.
>>735091642So it's not actually a lease? You have to keep paying forever or they take it back?
>>735092004Mining town scrip style
they're consolefags, of course they will. Whereas only the poorest browns use Geforce Now, no matter how hard they push it.
>>735089630last PS console ever bought.>PS2yeah, I can still live without modern slop and linear experiences.
>>735092289That's literally what a lease is, keep paying for it, or they take it back. This isn't a rent to own deal or anything like that.
>>735092289The term you're thinking of is finance.Lease is literally just paying to use someone else's thing, then when your contract is done; you stop paying and give it back.
i mean renting one from rent a center was my hail mary shall wolverine not come out on PC cause aint no way im buying a whole console for one fucking game
>>735092978actually looking at the image you posted seems to actually imply it's a subscription service and not financing.
>>735093538that's what was said anon, it's not financing.it's a lease contract = subscription to use.
>>735089630>>735092978Why are Americans so much into these Jewish tricks?
>>735093669Poor people love wasting their money. They'll rent a couch for $20 a month thinking it's cheaper, then pay thousands for all their rental furniture over the course of a few years and still not own anything.
>>735089630the future of ownig nothing and be happy is coming lads, so buckle up
>>735089630>cloud gaming but for consolesand nothing will change just like when stadia came out
>>735093893i only rent things ill only need for a week or two cause thats literally what renting is for
>>735089707yea...about that...
>>735094090>pay for access>still wait queues and limited playtimefuck off
>>735094090yaa bot almost no one uses that cause it introduces lag
I'm just going to build PC's with older outdated parts at this point. I see no reason to graduate beyond my 3090 and both Windows 11 and 12 are liquid shit. Indie games are mostly not demanding at all and I couldn't care less about AAA.
>>735091409I kinda want to do this
>>735094307Still a problem because a lot of indie games don't even try to optimize. I also have a 3090 and it runs pretty much anything just fine, but some indie games really get those fans going even though it's just a 2D strategy game or whatever, kinda nuts
>>735091409you have been able to do this forever from rent a center or other rental services expect with those you dont have to ship it back you just take it into a store throw it at them and leave they take it like a fucking bitch
>>735094434If a 2D strategy game is stressing a 3090, the dev is doing something horribly wrong behind the scenes.
>>735094205>8 hours to work>6 hours to sleep>1 hour to commute>1 hour for chores>1 hour to cook & eat>4 hours family time (wife & kids)>1 hour to exercise>leaves 2 hours per day to gaming>2*30 = 60100 hours a month is more than anyone should ever need
>>735094434>>735094307if all you play is single player games you can get away with linux easily though there is no windows 12 announcement yet that was a fake
>>735089630Oh no...Anyway, I don't care about Sony nor Sony games.
>>735094537>4 hours family time (wife & kids)>(wife & kids)in this economy?
>>735094587I'm not willing to go through the pain of learning Linux.
>>735094537There are other hobbies besides gaming too so many wont get 2 hrs a day just for gaming
>>735089630At least when Xbox did their installment plans you got to keep the hardware at the end of it.
>>735094803>the pain of learning linux if all you do is browse and game there is no pain just install and run your steam games from steam while a browser works exactly like it does in windows one of these days browsers and their ilk will stop supporting 10
bro ps5 got like zero game i swear even my toaster have more exclusive than this plastic spaceship console
>>735089630>$144 a year to not own a devicekek
>>735095029Well good news they learned to stop putting their single player games on PC so maybe the PS6 will have some games on it worth a damn in ten years.
i dont understand how you can struggle to save up for something but have no problem paying an installment plan its like gen Z legitimately thinks saving up money is a crime
Console faggots already normalized paying to use your own internet because they have no self respect.Every consolefag will cuck out like they always do and they will all be nothing but thankful for it.
>>735095002It was actually a "deal" if you wanted gamepass. It was like $20-$40 cheaper as the bundle. Probably not worth fucking with your credit, but we are debt maxers here.
>rent console for one month>play the one or two exclusives worth playing>give it backso what is the issue here?seems much cheaperI can only see this losing them money, since without the commitment of "I spent 500 on this console i'd better use it" people will likely not continue to buy games or subscriptions
>>735095260This is why you're poor and why you stay poor. Renting/leasing is a massive trap.
>>735095365explain how the described scenario goes wrong, retard
>>735095260>>735095460>ship it back>the shipping company damages it during transport '>you get held responsible nothing personal kid
>>735095365But renting games was great. Was the best part of having full games on physical media.
>>735089994Stealing your cousin's console does not count as leasing it, Tyrone
>>735095747Renting games was great back when we lived in a high trust society and consoles were still cheap enough to own without breaking bank. Things have just gotten so much worse.
>stop paying but don't return console>sony hitmen show up at your house and beat the shit out of you
>>735095809rent a center its called rent a center you fucking cock womble
>>735095260> $21 for the month> $70 for the game> give back the system, lose access to the games you boughtwow, what a saving
>>735089630What prevents me from canceling the subscription and keeping the console?
>>735095912>roughly 500 USD breaks the bank are you retarded?
>>735096038nothing, have fun anon with your 11 dollar console!
>>735096038They have your address and bank details
>>735095196Saving up money takes too long and the games won't be fun in a few months. It's better to just get a payment plan and deal with a little bit of interest instead of being bored and waiting for months or years until you can buy it outright. Fucking live a little anon
>>735096038enjoy trying to do fucking anything with your 300 credit score moron
>>735096038i'm sure they can get Sony to remotely disable it if you don't return it
Why are they pushing "service" so fucking much?>live service>season pass>ps5 leasing>BMW heating seats
>>735095968You are unequivocably brown
>>735096185ironically if you had saved up when the ps5 first came out you would have had it for years by this point >>735096262they are preparing you for the idea of hardware thaty stops working if you dont pay a monthly fee
>>735096262aren't you boomers the generation that cooms their pants over blockbuster?
>>735096049500 USD is still more expensive than the average cost of a console back in the early/mid 2000s, with only the PS3 being the huge exception, especially nowadays with literally everything being more expensive. Remember also that consoles used to get cheaper over time, not even more fucking expensive like during this generation.
>>735096262that's literally how Sony makes most of its money
>>735096397N-No you see, renting games during my childhood was sovlful
>>735092978>£429.99 MSRP for a digital edition PS5>£647.64 to rent the PS5 for three years with the £18/mo method>£1,097.64 to rent the PS5 for three years with the £30/mo methodWE'RE SO BACK
>>735096446ok but 500 USD still isn't much of anything at all in 2026
>>735096262For steady income. Looks really good on paper. The line must go up forever
>>735095460You're overpaying and you get none of the benefits of actual ownership.
>>735096038>don't return the console>they have your card information>they'll just charge you the cost of the console + interests + tip and you'll end paying twice the price of the console if it was new>also it's disclosed in the TOS so there's nothing you can do about it :^)tl;dr: Don't be a nigger
>>735096769you forgot to mention them fucking over your credit
Soon we won't even be able to buy video games, only rent temporary licenses. Give me a reason to live right fucking now. I have been sitting in my room all day, dreading, knowing tomorrow I'll be back under those fucking fluorescent lights, in pain again, with awful diaper rash and the smell of blood wafting up from my own pants at me
>>735096397No idea what you mean, I'm not an amerifat.
>>735096905why the fuck would you have diaper rash? wipe your ass you are fucking 37
>>735096901This isn't China, we don't do social score here.
>>735097013we do credits scores here and this is the sort of thing they can report to the bureaus you fucking moron it is literally cheaper and better in both the short and long run to just fucking buy the console the fact remains the only things you should be buying on a payment plan are houses and cars
>>735097010wipe me brother
>>735097259Wrong. Doing payments is always the wrong move because you end up paying 50% extra in interest alone, and if anything happens before you finish paying it off then they just take it back and scam someone else with it, your money is gone forever with nothing to show for it.
>>735097632good luck buying a 150k-300k house outright moron better be a VERY rich person
>>735097741Look at you defending your own exploitation.
>>735098137explain to me how someone is supposed to feasibly save up 300k while paying rent?
>>735097632>>735097741>>735098137mortgage can be OK as long as the rates are low and money you would've otherwise spent on the house is invested in vehicles with a higher return than the mortgage interest
>Sony>dignity
>>735098294It's like how college tuition increased when it became normal to go into debt for it.
>>735098353this doesn't explain how someone is supposed to put together 300 thousand dollars
>>735098575Not my problem
>>735098898its gonna be if you ever need to buy a house better stat looking into mortgages
>>735098294stay with your family and don't move out until you find a partner to move in with or you are financially stable retards will move to a big city to be a barista or flip burgers and complain that the rent is too high
>>735098575you save up a dollarthen you save up another oneyou do that until you have 300000
>>735098983ya only 30 fucking years later AKA the typical term of a mortgage
>>735099047don't be impatient young grasshopper
>>735098575>get a mortgageseriously, it's crazy that zoomers forgot how it used to be done
>>735098960Anyone who lives in some rural shit hole is broke and uneducated. Being broke and having 4 roommates is a small price to pay to live somewhere with culture and things actually happening besides fucking hunting season or some gay shit like that
>>735089630>lease 50 ps5 pro>"lost" them>declare bankrupcy >sell themnothing personal Snoy
>>735099113>live in a decent house now while paying a mortgage and building equity >live in a worse house in 30 years for pretty much the same price
>>735099221>t.
>>735089630>Lease PS5>Move to another country so Sony don't know where you are>Free PS5based
>>735099409Equity is a scam
>>735099654now i know you are retarded the only scam is property tax
>>735093669It's an easy way to trick people into paying more money.Fuck man, look at music, I spend more on music now than I ever did and have less to show for it same with movies TV shows etc.I'm watching IASIP, I could buy the entire series on DVD for £60 and instead I'm paying £13/monthYou would have to watch about 10 episodes a week (which is easy) for Netflix to come out cheaper but that comes at the expensive of never rewatching it
>>735099409what even the point of this post ?if you wait 30 year you will actualy buy a fresh new house instead of 30 year old relic you would have after finishing paying your mortgage
>>735099776i tried watching free netflix and got an add and download the whole season of rick and morty in 2 minute, what the fuck are you doing bro ?
>>735100421no if you wait 30 years your 300k house you wanted is now a 2 million dollar house and the 50-0k house you can afford is a small shack if you get a mortgage than the house you pay 300k for is now worth 2 million dollars
>>735099493The moment someone plugs them online they will brick themselves.
>>735096262>pay $500 once>pay $100 every month for a yearServices make more money than selling product.
>>735089906that's just the zoomer meaning of flex, the word has other meanings for actual human beings
>>735089707>it'll push everybody to PCSo Macs running MacOS? and therefore unable to run games and go back to console?Because all I've heard from windows is that its insufferable to use
>>735096198what is a credit score. I don't live in the US
>>735103294>PC>so, Mac?you're a funny guy
>>735100529I'm sorry, I wasn't aware I was you?
>>735103526It's a measure of how good you are at being in debt. To have a good credit score you have to consistently carry debt without missing any payments. The reward is that you can go into more debt with less fees, making payments on a house or car or whatever. Some jobs also check to see if you have a good credit score, because it means you're a reliable and consistent consumer.
