>radiation gun/radioactive gun (like plasma) in video games>doesn’t make victim lose hair, have bloody diarrhea, vomit, get extremely weak, get delirious, have skin peel off, have teeth fall out, etcWhy do games devs want to make people think a radiation based weapon would just be all sunshine and rainbows?
More importantly why is it based on an old WW2 volksturm rifle? Did they just have a ton of those banging about in Maine/New England in the 2070s?
>>735092214It’s Bethesda Fallout, they just do whatever they want gun wise, Classic/Obsidian had a mix of real guns and new wacky stuff.
>>735092363... Fair enough. I didn't mind the design just thought it was a bit odd. Not the most egregious thing in the game.I do wish you could have a mod or something that made radiation a bit more of a long term hazard. I think fallout 76 did something interesting with it where if you absorbed a bunch of rads at once it gave you a random mutation. Some good, some bad.
>radiation gun/radioactive gun (like plasma) in video gamesLol
>>735091697I don’t blame you for not knowing the difference between plasma weapons and laser/radiation weapons because even movie writers get them confused but you should read up on the differences
I do get it though a realistic approach to radiation damage would kind of suck, since it's not really a good 'feedback' mechanism. >get exposed to harmful dose of radiation>get sick multiple hours later>if treated, live but with increased chance of cancer>receive LETHAL dose of radiation>feel okay at first>then slowly get sicker as all your cells die off from no more DNA>dieI could maybe see it in a game like Zomboid, where you can already die days later from something minor.
