You are given a blank cheque to make a new World War 2 FPS in the same vein as the old CoD, MoH, BoB, etc. What do you change or add to revive the WW2 shooter.

Do you use modern visuals and sound design to revisit common ground like Omaha and make it as atmospheric as possible, or do you explore new or rarely seen theatres like South East Asia or Northern Italy?

Campaign from the German perspective
>>
I want the on-rails shooting gallery levels like the Black Cats level in WaW to make a comeback, it split up the gameplay.
>>

I don't think it will sell well when young zoomers believe the wrong side won

That's the holy grail of WW2 shooter settings.

You play as the US and Soviets in world at war and they still made you feel like it was the most horrendous thing you could go through. Best thing they can do is make another 'war is hell' style thing.
>>
Tribes Ascend style skiing
Also a Soviet campaign that accurately portrays the USSR and the CPC as honest to goodness heroes.

fpbp, and no monkey's paw shit where a quarter of the way through the campaign your character sees a camp with 6 gorillion jews being fed to eagles and decides to defect or some shit

Ww2 but the nazies and axis are the good guys, like the lost cause

It should still get worse and worse for your character though. Image being on the receiving end of the russians coming into Berlin or Kursk and just having to hide or survive.

I dunno. I guess the part where Russians storm Hitler's fortress and win the war should be in at least one of them.

WW2 battle royale, you air drop onto historic battle locations, if you win you get the Weiner Weiner Schnitzel Dinner

More open world type maps, with Medal of Honor Airborne specifically as the inspiration. The map is large, you have some objectives to complete, and can do so in any order.
Your squad members are individuals with skills, and when they die they die permanently. There are rookie replacements, but they need to go through a battle or two to be competent.
You can plan the mission beforehand, and change the plan when things go sideways.

Basically Medal of Honor Airborne + Rainbow Six.

running away simulator

That would be good, maybe the game ending with your character dying in the courtyard in front of the Reichstag, looking up as the russians raise the flag over it. After you kill dozens of them, obviously.

A horror game set in unit 731

World at War's last level is exactly that.

That's a really interesting concept, losing experienced guys and having to deal with rookies being worse shots or whatever.
It would be interesting to see more tactical stuff brought over to World War Two like SAS operations in France or Tunisia.

I want the game to be gritty and as harrowing as possible. I remember when this message pops up (picrel) at the end of Call of Duty and it genuinely made me sit back and think 'well shit' afterwards.

Metal Gear prequel about the Cobras and pack it full of other weird war stuff like RCTW, Operation Darkness, etc.

I'm not a fan of post 2010 Ubisoft games, but I would dig WW2 Far Cry, where you play as SOE or OSS in occupied Europe, aiding the resistance.

Yugoslavia in particular, since it was battle royale of factions.

I just take a modest amount of money needed to make Hidden and Dangerous 3. It won’t revive shit but me and a handful of other autists would be happy
>>

When I say "open world", I do not mean Far Cry or BOTW. I mean non-linear levels. The level's map is large and yours to decide how to approach objective-wise. That's specifically why I brought up Medal of Honor Airborne, because that's exactly what it did.
>>
>>735094559
Also, play Sabatour. It's GTA but French Resistance.

I would prefer more focus on countryside, villages and small towns, something which is in line with Far Cry
