You didn't beat the game if you used Raise Dead or Resurrect once
>>
>>735096323
Who says?
>>
>>735096323
That's how I always play crpgs. It's a decent challenge for a bit of extra difficulty.
>>
>>735096323
i think i managed to do it once or twice.
sorcerer and paladin of course, easy mode.
>>
>>735096780
I do it but I only do it because I'm parniod that they'll gain some bullshit hidden status affect from dying and coming back to life. Also because it pretty much makes every CRPG way easier.

Do people really think it's impossible to beat BG1 and BG2 without bringing a single party member back to life? I thought it was the norm never to use raise dead.
>>
>letting anyone in your team die

you shouldve seen my panicked face as a kid years ago when my party member got turned to stone and just dissappeared from the squad selection screen.

not just dead.
GONE.

I didn't beat the game because it was boring
>>
If you didn't play hardcore iron man perma death mode where if your party members die you just leave them. Then you didn't beat the game.
>>
>>735096323
You need to use it to save the father in Saradush.
>>
>>735097334
this
>>
>>735096323
I cheat and give myself 18 in every stat every time I play.
>>

>not allowed to use cleric spells because of arbitrary rules from anon
I beat the game, fuck you
If you used time stop you didn’t beat the game.
>>
>>735097279
You can't save during combat so you have to restart the whole fight if you fuck up and a party member dies. It's honestly more challenging then just brute forcing every encounter and then just spam raise dead on everyone
>>
>>735096323
There are far more silly OP things in the game.
>>
>>735097515
You can still use the other spells
>>
>FMT
>solo
>full EET playthrought
>exp cap removed
Yeah, I'm thinking I beat the game.
>>
>backstabs you with a quarterstaff for over 1000 damage

nice try, kid.
>>
>>735097519
>The combat didn't go exactly how I wanted it to go, I'll reload
That's savescumming, retard. I use all my options, be it potions, scrolls or spells. Never reload.
You're a bitch.

BG2 is the beginning of everything wrong with CRPGs, it ruined the legacy of BG1.
First thing in a hour long cutscene filled mandatory dungeon.
>>
>>735098301
that first dungeon was pretty cool tho, lots of different things going on
>>
>>735096323
I just reload if someone dies. I'm not wasting spell slots on that crap.
>>
>>735097389
permadeath is really fun. it really made me appreciate different npcs and finally using all those consumables the game throws at you
>>
>>735098448
first time I played bg1 I had imoen die early and khalid and the cleric girl get petrified. So I began a quest to deptrify them which took an hour. I never revived imoen because it was too expensive and I didn't even know thieves had lockpicking.
So it was a bit of a surprise when I found out she was quite relevant to the story later on
>>
>>735098301
don't forget how like 80% of the party member content is purely dedicated to romance
BG2 really did start a lot of things wrong with crpg's
>>
>>735096323
I savescum instead. Does that make me a gamrr?
>>
>>735098852
Yes. A combat encounter is a puzzle, and you found a way to resolve it flawlessly.
>>
>>735099741
would you consider playing chess with an undo function a good way to enjoy the game?
>>
>>735099875
Chess puzzles literally work like that.
Playing against players is different but you are too fucking stupid to get the nuance
>>
>>735098301
>First thing in a hour long cutscene filled mandatory dungeon.
the dungeon is choke full of exploration, it has several pieces of optional content and some really cool fights, the fuck you're babbling about
>>
>>735097984
Save scumming is when you repeatedly reload after you fail at the slightest action. Dying and then reloading is different
>>
>>735099984
no they don't. If you fail a puzzle by making a wrong move you won't get any points. You can still undo and try to get them, but you'll start to get lower rated puzzled more aligned with your ranking after.
>>
>>735098414
>>735100059
NTA It's cool and all but I fucking hate being stuck with party members I don't plan on keeping around.
>>
>>735098301
I think it's fine.
I prefer bg1, but bg2 doesn't need to do the exact same thing.
Maybe the character are a bit flanderized, but I still like them.
>>
>>735100131
difference between chess puzzles and BG2 is that in chess puzzles, if you try to capture a piece you don't have to roll a dice and see if you get a 15 or higher
>>
>>735096323
Threadly reminder that tryhardism comes from insecurity and doing this shit just shows you're a loser.
>>
>>735100410
Then play deterministic games. Big part of the fun in these games is the randomness and overcoming the challenges presented by it. Again, you're a bitch.
>>
On my first playthrough of bg1+2 (I'm at ch6 of 2) and one thing I absolutely CANNOT STAND about the game is when the characters sperg out at the entrances to different cells
>YOU MUST GATHER YOUR WHOLE PARTY FIRST
>YOU MUST GATHER YOUR WHOLE PARTY FIRST
Then manually having to reset their position and reclick the exit a bunch until they decide they are gathered enough kek overall fantastic games tho
>>
>>735100543
but anon
you must gather your party before venturing forth
>>
>>735100543
Yeah. Late 90s/early 00s pathfinding. A common complaint of that era.

i have never beaten or played this game without it

i play it to completion once a year for like the last 20 years

>>735097454
>not playing through BG1 several time, collecting all the tomes of stat growth every time and bumping yourself up to 25 in every stat
do you even work out at the library?
>>
what's the difference between EET Tweaks and Tweaks Anthology?
Does EET Tweaks do anything that TTA doesn't for an EET run?
>>
>>735100504
just saying that there's a reason to punish reloading harsher in deterministic games
also lets be real here, there's almost no encounters in BG2 that are actually puzzles requiring unique solutions to said puzzle

99% of encounters can be beaten by buffing up Keldorn and setting him to auto-attack

if you actually want puzzle encounters, BG3 is far superior to BG2 in that aspect
>>
>>735096323
check this faggot out, telling people how to play the games they payed for. Kill yourself

After those trap hijinks, I can see why Icewind Dale doesn't give you the opportunity with the end bosses.
>>

I really enjoyed the first one, but lost interest in 2 super quickly.
Why do people say it’s the better game?
>>
>>735102408
its just more in every way. I like both but 2 has so much shit to do in combat so I prefer it after replaying both games dozens of times

>>

Shitty sandboxes suck.
Characterless companions suck.
Low level d&d sucks no matter how much you cry about high level being a mess when that's mostly about all the paperwork the computer automates.
Shitty low narrative chore quests suck.

Baldur's Gate 1 and a lot of those early crpg's are open world meme. Just empty shit where you're left to jack yourself off and gaslight yourself into pretending it's fun.
BG2 has some problems about pendulum-ing too far in the other direction particularly how funsy wunsy they try to make the companions. But it has a strong narrative throughline instead of an excuse to wander around being a traveling gopher.

Be honest, you've never actually played BG1, did you?
>>
>>735103879
You're talking about a game where the narrator has to quite literally lampshade
>how this connects to you at all you can only fucking wonder

And that's for your main quest where the narrative, such as it is, all lies.
The companions on the other hand are cardboard cutouts.

The russian tranny has done irreparable damage to discourse here.
>>
>>735103879
>Be honest, you've never actually played BG1, did you?
have you? I love bg1 but a lot of it is empty, the sidequests I think they mean are mostly just nothing burgers and the characters don't do much outside of their introductions, that's why everyone uses that companion dialogue mod which might retardedly refer to them as npcs, I forget
>>
>>735103879
I love thirty samey forest maps that are seven billion miles long with maybe one meaningless quest, no good loot, and the same five enemy types you fight the whole game
>So I kicked him in the head until he was dead! Nhe ha ha ha!
>>
>>735108619
i say all that
