So they are taking their cope upscaling tech and turning it into something that steals the image entirely and reconstructs it to the desires of the sloplords? Why isn't this some weird offshoot thing nobody will use instead of forcing it into the thing that every dev forces onto players? I already know it's specifically because they can tag-along with devs forcing it onto players.

>>735107578
It depends on the model but likely it wouldn't know what that means and wouldn't affect the image output, maybe interpret the "AI" part as some robot shit. Unless the training data was tagged with "AI generated" it won't do much, like I use Illustrious (Stable Diffusion) and it's heavily weighted towards using Danbooru tags, but if you start going outside of that it can get confused/not much of anything.
>>
I don't know if this thread is a parody of DLSS. I also don't know if it's because I'm stupid, or if reality has become so ridiculous that the parody seems believable.
>>
>>735109056
It's really ugly and destroys art styles, while taking 10x the computational power to run. it's idiotic. That's before getting into the inevitable hallucinations and false positives. You will be riding a horse, and all of a sudden a giant tree turns into a snake for a brief second before switching back.
>>
>>735109056
It's not a parody. DLSS 5, just announced, requires two 5090's to run and it uses AI to dynamically alter what you are looking at.

You know this shitpost webms of GTAV run through AI so it looks like it's set in India? This is literally that, but real.

>>735108452
AI drove up energy prices for everyone nationally
AI drove up prices for ALL silicone based hardware and made EVERYTHING more expensive because ALL of it has some level of computer in it
AI is bypassing region restrictions and buying up copious amounts of land to build data centers for
AI has completely ruined the job marketplace for both employers and employees because it is AI talking to AI on both ends
AI has now given the military the ability to commit mass domestic surveillance and create autonomous killbots

you have to be literally fucking braindead retarded to not see how much its hurting the economy, and that's not even getting into the stratospheric evaluations tech companies are being valued at. its gonna make the 2008 crisis look like a fucking kiddie pool. they are at over 7000% bloated evaluations, and its public knowledge at this point. its literally a hanging guillotine
>>
>>735108452
NTA but I find it aesthetically abhorrent. Just one of those things that if you actually look at the individual details you notice how fucked up it actually is.
>>
>>735109293
And it makes me feel it's the future of gaming, sadly considering the trend is to have game's less and less optimized and to push that rendering onto the consumer's hardware. A future game might only come out with very basic graphics, which then YOU are expected to generate on the fly with 5 GPUs strapped together.

The trend is less on efficient engines more on needing advanced hardware. Meanwhile, gaming doesn't look that different from 2015! A decade of stagnation but requiring more and more resources.

No one can quite explain why we need any of this to begin with, but they are front-loading the costs on their end to waste billions. That way all of these AI-tools are so integrated into our life, they can start charging for it. It's more rent-seeking for things we already have for free or low cost, and

If this was rolled out in a slow manner, this wouldn't be anywhere near as disruptive.

One area this is quite useful is on the fly translation. I was watching a Korean livestream with immediate translated subtitles. We are probably a few years away from what amounts to a Universal Translator. This would be rolling out AI features slowly, and only doing it where it makes sense. Instead private finance is blowing billions jamming AI everywhere, on the hope they can win the lottery.

Private Equity is mostly rolling this everywhere before they have any idea what the point is. They are also making sure everything is server side, which means they have complete control over things. If they let you download a traditional program, that spreads out energy usage a lot and would cause less disruptions.

There is a surveillance angle, but the main angle is to interweave AI tools into every aspect of online and tech life that we can't live without it. Then they become the next big tech companies.

It's really obvious majority of this is just junk and spam. Pajeets are spamming social media sites with fake AI video spam because everything is server side. If it was rgular programs then we could at least ensure the Pajeet has a high end 3500 PC to even begin to create video spam.

Majority of this is just disruptions, gimmicks, and massive costs, with very little benefit. Friends of mine are talking about throwing away their smartphones and social media if it gets worse.

the real "AI sucks" complaints comes from the idea that the people who use it understand so little of it and hail it as a new kind of god, when it is literally just a more advanced version of the same word predictors we had on cellphones 20 years ago, but now its in charge of setting missile targets/hiring you for a job/writing your game and movie stories/etc

In addition to what the other anon said, it's basically free money.
You, as the owner of a companby, instead of waiting 10 years to be able to buy equipment to increase your productivity, or instead of taking out a bank loan with interest to pay, you can simply sell a small portion of your company, purchase the equipment, increase productivity, and remain competitive.
The shareholders won't have any decision-making power, you can only sell a small portion of your company, and they will merely be minority partners who, at most, will receive a share of future profits.

So I watched the Digital Foundry video, because I thought the anons here were just messing up here.
The same characters look like two different people depending on the shot. That's totally unacceptable.
Imagine a movie where the protagonist is played by a different actor each time, and the director thinks it'll work because the actors look alike. It overlaps with the movement for cloud-based gaming.

The likes of Jensen Huang, Jeff Bezos, Satya Nadella etc unironically believe the future of gaming is you paying for a streaming subscription to broadcast a fully AI-generated game (graphics, story, gameplay mechanics, UI, everything) to any random screen.

In 2023, Huang said he wanted "every pixel in video games to be generated, not rendered". They don't want you to be allowed to play real games anymore.

Which will fail miserably just like Google Stadia did. Unless they can make light move faster inside a light cable the input lag is always going to be too much for consumers.

Doesn't matter if you force a market condition where consumers can only buy Ferraris, if the steering wheel simply doesn't work people will rather go back to buying horses again.

Most of the new graphics stuff is unnecessary and somewhat absurd when you know some things about computer science and can realize how absurd it sounds for performance upfront. The industry got filled with incompetent people though who don't know how to make realism without relying on a bunch of technology to literally model every last particle and simulate light and shit. This was fuelled by computer hardware companies who were paying for simulation shit so they could test out their hardware. Now that the hardware companies have AI to push their stuff even further, they've abandoned funding this stuff which is part of why you are seeing all these incompetent game studios collapse.

Indians genuinely love AI for a variety of reasons.
One of them is a visceral identification with the concept of "scam". I think the easiest example to understand this is music. No one in their right mind would call their friends over to listen to music and have the computer generate the music on the spot. Music without any historical or social context has no value.
But if you pretend that song was made by some band from somewhere, then people will start showing some interest. The lie is necessary to add value to AI-generated art, and that's why Indians identify so strongly with this technology. Scams are in their blood, and the fact that AI art can only gain value through scammers makes them instinctively realize that they are the perfect people to profit from this technology.

GPU producers primarily were funding game companies if they made games to push things to the limits. This was before AI existed so simulations were the best way to test their limits and gamers were cattle easy to convince this was part of the history of graphics improvement. Now they have abandoned these companies but will still give them some cuck chair things like AI filters. Most of these companies will hopefully crash without funding and they'll be forced to look into advancing with games in mind again.

The only real value AI has brought to me in the last 4 years or so has been stupid meme videos that I could easily do without and the slight convenience of regurgitating info I was looking for on google that I would have just found on a reddit thread. Any application of AI to art has been an affront against god and most of the time you can still tell that it's a soulless amalgamation of artists' work. I think that we're many, many years off from this stuff actually changing things in a profound way and if it's not heavily regulated it's going to naturally drive people away from the net because no one wants to second guess if everything they're seeing is real or not. It should be used enhance our lives, not completely replace it with deception. Fuck that. But honestly the most likely goal and outcome is furthering a surveillance state. So I won't get my balanced luddite world and you won't get your hedonistic escapist paradise either.

What state of grief are you at now?

You shouldn't spend any money on anything you don't want. But you shouldn't cry about when others who do enjoy it do just that

There are 2 things which make a videogame world feel immersive and "real"

>Consistency
The world has to have a solid logic to it which the player can learn and become comfortable with, so that everything in the world will look and operate the way you expect it to look and operate. This does not have to be 'realistic' in the slightest. The game can be Mario, so long as everything in the world follows tight logic that the player can become comfortable with, you will build the impression of the world being solid and real.

>Responsiveness
The feeling of directly interacting with the world comes from controls which are instantly responsive and do exactly what you expect them to do. Low input latency and direct consistent feedback contribute to the world feeling solid and immersive.

Tiktok filter memetech destroys both of these things. Nothing in the world will look consistent because the AI is hallucinating images over the top of the real game world. Faces will shift and morph, lighting and weather will distort to present a studio lighting look at all times, materials will suddenly become shiny or reflective because the AI thinks that looks nicer, damp and messy images will become bright and clean at random, and the 100 extra milliseconds of render latency will ensure your controls feel completely detached from anything happening on the screen leaving you in the shoes of a drunkard trying to steer an alcohol fuelled feverdream with a boat wheel

An honest assessment would be to point out that the initial model already looks bad. Not because it doesn't have an AI hallucinating it, but because it's just not a very nice model. This is a shitty substitute for hiring good artists, brought to you by billions of dollars in AI funding and zero dollars of artist training

Left dude also looks like Willem Dafoe. Did they train that shit on just pictures of him?

>I have yet to see anyone pro-AI be half as hostile and rabid about it as the anti-AI people
does bribing the orange retard for government money count as hostile and rabid?
>>
>>735108142
>I have yet to see anyone pro-AI be half as hostile
That's because if the paid AI marketers say a rude world they could lose their astroturfing job

towards who can ruin the world harder

>i give you $100
>your profit is $100
>you give me back the $100
>my profit is $100
>we are now both profitable companies
pretty sure that only leads to bankruptcy
and if everyone is doing that and the entire economy is depended on that industry doing well then its going to cause a crash.

When I attach an unrelated webm to a post I get to discover who is a bot who only reacts to images and videos instead of reading the text. Like you

Have you ever considered that, if people react to the picture you post instead of what you write, maybe your drivel is less interesting than you think?
Plus, it's an imageboard axiom, and has been since before you started lurking: Never have a picture more interesting than your post.
