DLSS 5 seems to be basically the same thing thats being applied to one of these old 'gta V with AI ultra realism filter' videos from a few years ago. The algo basically checks against a machine learned database of real images and creates a 'real' looking filter over the frame. Given the backlash that Digital Foundry's recent video faced over NVIDIA's showcase of the upcoming iteration of DLSS, I kept wondering if I'm the only person who's actually genuinely excited about it and would so want to use it when it's released? As of now, the majority of the comments seems to focus on the the visual changes to character's faces. I see where you're coming from, and it's easy to jump on the hate-train and declare it AI slop. However, if the developers are given a toolkit and the freedom to what extent to implement which feature, I don't see a problem with it.Just for context: I'm a 40+ year old gamer who grew up playing on all sorts of consoles and PCs. The ultimate goal for most games has always been foto-realism. DLSS 5 seems to be yet another major leap towards that goal. Lighting and level of detail looks stunning in some of the showcased games. Personally, I even find Grace's and Leon's character models amazing and would totally play it with with DLSS 5 activated. I'm not a NVIDIA fanboy by any means as I've used different manufacturer's technologies over the years. But I'm also happy to see that NVIDIA keeps breaking new grounds with their latest advancements. Starfield, for example, looks immensely better with DLSS 5 as opposed to the immersion-breaking character models the game currently uses.
