Kirby’s Dream Land, the early pokemon games, shit like tetris but everything else idk
>>
>>735127486
Zelda: LA obviously
Donkey Land 2/3, Wario land 3 was on par with SMW in some respects and bypassed it in others

Gameboy picross is my favorite picross
>>
>>735127486
Basically all the shit that was designed with the game boy in mind. Unfortunately. a LOT of 3rd parties used the game boy as a port machine, and there was a ton of garbage on it as a result. Nintendo's best first party titles have definitely made people remember the game boy with rose tinted glasses. Overall I think the gb library is notably worse than the nes, especially when it comes to third parties.
>>
>>735127486
kirby 1 sucks
kirby 2, on the other hand, is a fucking masterpiece. it's crazy how much better it is
>>
>>735128320
I have the exact opposite opinion. Kirby 1 is simple, but it doesn't overstay its welcome and the hard mode does a lot of heavy lifting. 2, on the other hand, starts the terrible trend of tedious "restart the entire stage because you didn't just so happen to bring the right powerup" shit.
>>
>>735128386
it never forces you to do that
>>
>>735128438
Locking the true final boss and ending may as well be forcing you. Also, just because it isn't "required" it doesn't mean it isn't bullshit and unfun. I play games to play them. Not to rush to the finish and avoid everything the game decides is optional
>>
>>735128502
it's a diagetically justified challenge mode. you finish the level normally, then the game says hey can you finish the level using only x powerup? but instead of doing that in a menu like some unimaginative, primitive game design failure of a game, it's wholly justified in-universe. it's way more elegant and immersive to present it to the player through diagetic means

Balloon Kid
>>
>>735128638
Lmao what a gay ass post of meaningless nonsense. It's not "challenging" it's tedious. Kirby dreamland 1 actually changes up the enemy placements drastically and makes the stages feel new. I'd take that over "haha fuck you do the same thing but now with the RIGHT powerup this time!"
>>
>>735127486
the two harry potter gbc games are the best harry potter games made so far
>>
>>735128728
I guess you're too low IQ to understand. enjoy your menus
>>
>>735128295
Some of the Game Boy versions of 3rd Party ports are fine. Not all of them, but some of them. Darkwing Duck on Gameboy was great, and Capcom had the sense to redesign the game slightly, to make the levels and bosses work on the Gameboy's smaller screen, from the original NES version, and they didn't just fully port it as is. Great Mega Man styled game.
>>
>>735128761
Nigger you're bitching about selecting a single menu to change up the whole game. Do file selects make you piss and shit yourself too?
>>
>>735128808
literally you got filtered because instead of presenting it in a menu the challenge was presented to you organically through the course of gameplay. imagine being that much of a retard, holy shit
>>
>>735128787
Yeah, there's a few outliers, I'll agree to that. Capcom in gernal was better than most. I've just played a lot of game boy and nes recently and the nes has left me more impressed than I thought I would be and the game boy has been kinda dissapointing
>>
>>735127486
rpgs were relatively well-suited to gameboy, check those out
>>
>>735128850
>shit you made up
You are genuinely retarded. All I said was that "beating a level again with a different powerup" isn't nearly as interesting or fun as replaying a level with remixed enemy placements. Why are you hard focusing on such an asinine aspect of the games?

you're the one who brought it up motherfucker, imagine getting so defensive because someone pointed out how clever and ahead of its time the game design principles were
>>
>>735129021
No, I did not bring up "hurr durr it's a menu vs an in-game item reward", you dumbass. I brought up the content of the levels. YOU brought up the trivial "motivation" aspect. Good lord each of your posts are getting progressively more retarded
>>
>>735129105
imagine getting this triggered about fucking kirby 2

dude do some introspection, something is wrong with you
>>
>>735129105
>in-game item reward
Are you ESL? No-one talked about this. I think you've failed to understand what anyone was saying
>>
>Mega Man IV and V
>Final Fantasy Legend 2 and Adventure
>>
>>735129168
Huh? You're the one talking about replaying levels being "justified in-universe". If you aren't talking about the collectibles, than what the hell ARE you talking about?
>>
>>735129124
Explain to me how replaying levels over because they hid something behind a powerup you had no way of knowing you needed is somehow better than a hard mode that actually remixes the stages.
>>

A few off the top of my head.
>Gargoyle's Quest
>Bionic Commando
>Castlevania: Belmont's Revenge
>Cave Noire
>Mole Mania
>Pitman/Catrap

For the Frog the Bell Tolls is tied with link's awakening for the best game on the system, and one of the greatest games of all time.

But i also love:
Batman
Donkey Kong
Belmont's Revenge
Operation C
Ninja Gaiden Shadow.

A lot of ports did rely on being portable, so now that you can get the ogs+other portable systems followed up on it, it does make you think what holds up. Does SMB Deluxe/DQ3 hold up? As a result, it's sort of NES-like aside from select titles. But you have some platformers/rpgs. So a title like Pokemon Crystal holds up if you're into Pokemon whether for having gameplay or being decent timewasters.
Looney Tunes (the platformer)
Sinister Six
Dark Duel Stories
>>
>>735128320
Kirby 2 is a pretty much a watered down version of Kirby's Adventure, but with bullshit collectables that makes the game less fun. In fact, the Dark Matter Trilogy as a whole is a water down version of Kirby's Adventure and Kirby Super Star

>>735128438
It literally does
World 6 has the worst rainbow drop because the amount of hoops you have to go through to collect it
https://youtu.be/Zi37OBNfkEI?t=494
Like why the fuck do you have to go to a different level to get Kine when they could've put him in 6-2?
>>
>>735127486
Dragon Quest 3 GBC is still my favorite version of the game.
>>
South asians have genuinely ruined any and every discussion about anything on the internet these last couple of years, singlehandedly. I used to think certain groups of people back in the old days were autistic and annoying but holy shit nothing had me prepared for the indians. Absolutely another level from every single race / ethnic group / nation
>>
>>735128934
dont, the first one is like chamber, but with 1 party member. Its really haphazard
>>
>>735127486
Wario Land 3 is a masterpiece
Mario Tennis GBC is a masterpiece
If you havent played them, play them

Theres also Survival Kids, Pokemon TCG, Pokemon TCG 2, Yugioh Dark Duel Stories, and if you have the yugioh Early Days Collection, Yugioh Monster Capsule GB is like a long lost yugioh game aping pokemon but with simple srpg battles. Even has the same exact style of overworld with 16x16 sprite npcs. Every level of the game has a little "dungeons and dragons" style adventure your party goes on where you must outplay the dungeon master to win. Its a fun little game basically no one has played.
