>play bg1-2 dozens of times, still do once per year
>bg3 comes out, cautiously optimistic
>quit playing it 130 hrs in once i got to baldur's gate
>boot it up recently and fatigued after 1 hour

I just can't do it. I have to face the fact that it's just a mid modern capeshit rpg. Here's some shit that really pisses me off

>modern d&d 5e world where everything is bright and shiny ( its now a generic fantasy setting)
>female girlbosses, female halfling warriors beating up hulking males (goofy lack of acknowledgement for biological reality)
>random peasants talk casually about high level/rare monsters/phenomenon as if they're all perfectly commonplace (if everything is so common it has no impact if you encounter it)
>mages are everywhere and magic is as common as bread and water (it's no longer a niche profession for the gifted or truly persistent)
>zero investment in any companion character despite writing being decent, I just dont particularly have any reason to be invested in their problems
>themepark style game (i.e. a typical zone is a landmass with evenly spaced scripted encounters waiting to be triggered with "make le choices" sometimes thrown in)

Anyone feel me?

The companions all just seem kinda boring to me.

What gets me is all the bad dm tropes
>making random shit happen to you without an opportunity to roll (astarion ambush, everything with the red bitch)
>abundant and unavoidable DMPCs like withers who inject their opinions into the story, contradict established lore, and straight up tell you how to play
>combat situations the DM doesn’t want you to win are made extremely difficult or enemies are given free actions to avoid fighting you
>constant cheap manipulative writing like kidnapping the same kid over and over
It’s such a shitty railroaded mess

same

why are they like this?
>>735128372
Karlach or shart in just boots and loves looks good
>>735128508
hasbro had them tone everyone down so it would have the quirky chungus tone the movie and new editions rules had

I beat it once. I cant see myself ever really going back, mostly due to the railroaded themepark approach Larian loves so much. Like once you get to Baldurs Gate thats it... you're stuck in Baldurs Gate forever. At that point it just feels like nothing matters other than rushing the ending.

well, now so do I.

OP here. To be fair, it's a video game. It cannot possibly roleplay every outcome of a true RP experience. A good DM running a sandbox style campaign is basically a gamedev AI generating new content on the fly. Video games can't do that. Best they can do is a few most-likely outcomes and move on.

OP here. Wait, so once you get to the city that's it? I was hoping I'd get to to go into the country side again. The city is okay, just too chaotic, too many quests thrown at you. Fuck

Post the gameplay

Sure but rolling a d20 to decide whether or not to play a cutscene is not asking much

OP here. The only gameplay I recorded is bear sex with astarion, which I keep for myself.

Biggest issue for me is the retarded size. No game should ever take more than 65GB and that's pushing it. I'm refusing to install any shit what weighs in 130+ GB.
