Like once you get to Baldurs Gate thats it... you're stuck in Baldurs Gate forever. At that point it just feels like nothing matters other than rushing the ending.

A good DM running a sandbox style campaign is basically a gamedev AI generating new content on the fly. Video games can't do that. Best they can do is a few most-likely outcomes and move on.
