>all the endings are bad endingsfuck you CDPR polish cunts
i don't mind bittersweet, i hate stories where the mc dies i always find out before i finish and it always ruins the entire thing for me
>>735129491I consider that one in PL where you get stripped of all cyberware and get a 2nd chance at life as a good ending.
>>735129848But Panam leaves you
>>735129870Don't care much for romances in vidya so, eh.
>>735129870So what, she's a chopped toastie. The romances in CP are really dumb and we should've been able to romance Songbird.Anyway, didn't you like only have 6 or 7 months to live before dying in that ending?
>>735129870yeah it feels like every ending tells you, the player, to go fuck yourself in some way or another though I guess I'll try to get that one and not romance panam at all in my next playthrough
>>735130005>The romances in CP
>>735129491rumor has it that the director or something just hated the idea of having any sort of happy ending in a cyberpunk setting
Shit game, you get what you deserve.
>>735129870I don't know why everybody simps for her, she was fucking annoying.
>>735129491not just the ending but the fucking sidequests are like that tooChoices are eitherFor instance, in one questline, if you help some people who are being oppressed by gang members and bad business managers who basically rape you your choices areA. Kill the bad people - the bad people come back when you aren't there and kill some of the people you protected, and their workplace is shutdownB. Change managers to someone who say they won't be as bad - spoiler they are just as bad and the people, who are at least alive, have no hope. There's no point to agency in this game because your choices literally do not matter, you can just pick whatever gets you the gear you want.
>>735130141Why'd you post this hideous thing?
I knew there would be no good ending the moment Alt said the only way to "cure" you is to make a copy of you to upload into your body as if that doesn't kill you
>>735129491>>735130172>all the endings are bad endingsThat's a core genre trope of cyberpunk. You're told from the beginning by Big Black Man that you either burn out brightly or fade into obscurity. Every ending reflects this dichotomy somehow. You can't be that mad when you're told from the outset that the game will not have a happy ending. You're not on the Hero's Journey here.
>>735129848>spoilerHere I thought I was the only one. My only gripe is I wanted to fully sell out and get a government desk job.
>>735129491reaper ending is kinot. fem corpo V
>>735131104Yeah, it's weird anyone dislikes this motif. If you have your crappy hap tastic ending go play jap uWu garbage. Cyberpunk is a mature game.
>>735129848Handing Songbird over to the government is the worst ending though
>Cyberpunk themes RPGS>Surprised he doesnt get the happy ending where he marries Panem and cooperations are shattered
>>735132162>Cyberpunk is a mature game.Maturity in of itself doesn't preclude a genre having happy endings, it's just that cyberpunk by it's definition doesn't really have them. Post-Cyberpunk is specifically a reaction to cyberpunk's nihilism and you're way more likely to get a happy or neutral ending from those stories.
>>735129491Don't worry chud, your not a Christian so you don't get it.
>>735132236Shouldn't have tried to backstab me then, I was with her all the way until the rocket launch.
>>735129848spbpMY v is still rich as fuck by that point and will enjoy a long and happy private life with misty at their quiet estate in poland
>>735132343Cyberpunk as a genre is extremely weak, it's like the aesthetic is there and there's a mixed bag of some cool stuff but nobody wants to make anything remotely like it adapted in any form. Dredd is the closest thing we've got to good adaption of cyberpunk in media and it's not even really cyberpunk.
>>735132343>Maturity in of itself doesn't preclude a genre having happy endingsOh give me a break, if you cry about no happy endings you're immature.
The ending where you raid the moonbase of the ultra rich is the best ending
>>735129491no Star ending is good and V has hope of being saved still
>>735130172>rumor has it that the director or something just hated the idea of having any sort of happy ending in a cyberpunk settingThis was based though, I avoided this game for years because I thought the tone and writing would just be gay GTA shit. Instead they basically tricked normalfags into thinking that is what it's gonna be, but instead it's a much more beautiful story about somebody learning to accept their own death
>>735129491In my ending I got to fuck pan-am for 6 months straight and die young. Absolutely the good ending.
>>735133073but you don't have to accept v's death
>>735133169okay, grieve about it
>>735133169you didn't beat the game
>>735133215or just don't listen to the nihilist retard eating you brain and simply choose not to die lol
>>735129491Storming arasaka is okish. Keanu ruined the game.
>>735133298and then you die
>>735129491>all the endings are bad endingsThe game is literally called "Cyberpunk".Read a book nigga, a fucking book nigga!
>>735129848>>735129870I swear, they made it tragic for no reason.>can't call anyone before being put under for no reason>nobody at the agency tries to give you a decent cover story>most of your friends don't assume you have a very good reason to vanish like that>they randomly shave all your hair off before you come out of your coma
>>735135375Which one, Neuromancer? I suppose I could
>>735129491you have to pay the dlc to get the "good" ending
>>735135375>CyberpunkAh, I see. You are mentally challenged.
>>735129848Well. Not really. Remember that at that ending V literaly loses all his power and self-agency he used to have. Its really depressing when one day you are a literal cyberware demigod able to eat cyberpsychos for breakfast, defeat max-tac, defeat literal powerhouses like Kurt Hansen or Adam Smasher, the only person who could challenge night city and emerge victorious... And another day you are nothing more than some random person without any cyberware that gets easily mugged by random nigger hobo. And there are two possible outcomes, either V actually leaves Night City and for example take a position given to him by Reed or stays in night city and gets killed in less than week because even if he has money, he is still the fucking easy target to be robbed or killed by one of enemies V made.
>>735130172>character said thing>it's your fault for not assuming that everything the characters say early on dictates the tone of the endingsmoronicthat said happy endings would work against the setting. the point is that it's a horrible dystopian nightmare. it's cautionary.
>>735136627>happy endings would work against the settingIt wasn't true the first five million times you claimed it and it still isn't.
Cyberpunk is more than a video game honestly.
>>735136702why isn't it truein what way would a happy ending be congruent with the themes of the setting or of this particular game?defend your stance.
>all the endings are bad endingsNo they aren't. I guess it kind of depends on your character, but the only definitive bad endings are:>an hero ending>Temperence (with low Johnny friendship, otherwise it's fine)>the devil Other than that, they are all "good" endings unless they go against your character.>The StarLeave Night City forever with the Nomads; hopeful, free from the city's cycle of doom and death.>The SunSuccessfully become a Legend of Night City, highly implied that Mr Blue Eyes (see: Blackwall Demon) is going to help you survive the chip.>The TowerYou're alone and anonymous-with a new chance at life.>DON'T FEAR THE REAPER (Secret Ending, modified version of other endings)Fuck 'saka, simple as.The main narrative themes of Cyberpunk are:>money/material over sincere connection is bad>becoming a legend in NC usually means dying-is it worth it?>what would you sacrifice to survive? Each ending answers them in a certain way.best ending is DFTR or the Star, simple as.
>>735129870She's an insufferable cunt. No one could stand her in the long run. Pump and dump.
Cyberpunk is fun when you don't have some random faggot on the internet telling you it isn't. The launch was fucking horrible so totally understandable if people would rather pirate it than give their money to CDPR, but it's very rare for a single player game to come out anymore that makes me want to actually replay it.
>>735135375The book Cyberpunk was based on had a happy endingit's implied there'll be a massive recession and war that kills millions of people but the MCs live happily ever after and it's treated as a very good thing that in the coming anarchy, The System was prevented from completely calcifying into permanent superslavery for everyone on earth outside of a dozen guys in a boardroom
I wanna bust a nut in Panam's big brown ass
>>735129870I don't want Panam to be my virtual gf, so that's fine with me.
>>735131104I'd argue that the Sun and the Star endings are probably the least bad of them all. At least with the former V's doing well with the Afterlife and is cutting a deal with Mr Blue Eyes. The latter, although more poignant, even if V dies he die with good people around him.
>>735137367based
>>735130172Its bollocks tho, case gets cured and starts a family, bobby gets with angie, mona gets angies star life, hiro gets with juanita etc...
>>735137708>>735137158Ironically I think that Phantom Liberty inadvertently makes The Star a better endingBecause now we know that magic AI cures exist and they're scattered in random forgotten shitholes like Draugr swords>"We know a guy in Arizona who might know something"changes from a blatant false hope and wild goose chase to yeah, there's probably more magic bullshit in Arizona since it's apparently scattered everywhere
>>735137751>case gets cured and starts a familybut He Never Saw Molly Again>bobby gets with angiethey fucking die lol>mona gets angies star lifeyou know I'll give you this one, she upgrades her life from $5 crackwhore to $5 million Weinstein whore>hiro gets with juanitaman I loved that book and I have no memory of this
>>735137158but that happens to an engram of V's, the real V dies
>>735137820Pretty much, who knows what the fuck is out there in some Arizona bunker? There's absolutely a non-zero chance that there's another Cynosure-esque thing out there.
>>735129491They had one job: let V die in a blaze of glory. Instead Act 3 is limp and unsatisfying. Playing DLC before Act 3 was a nail in the coffin
I wish you could convince Takemura to stop simping for psychopaths and help you nuke the tower, he was a bro.
>>735137984In the lore of both RED, America is littered with ancient facilities full of active AIs ready to send to blow your asshole with missiles if you come close. The oceans are literally unusable for mundane travel because Arasaka are fucking retarded and created a self-replicating sea mines with AI that went rogue. V can definitely find a cure somewhere.
Sun is the best ending Same with launching asian chick to the moon in the dlc
>>735138075>I wish Takemura was a completely different character
>>735129491The Star isn't really a bad ending. Things don't go exactly as you hope but you keep your powers, get out of that shitty city, get famous, and score a few extra months to live. And since V canonically goes from Konpeki Plaza to the raid on Mikoshi in two weeks, that seems like plenty of time to find a permanent cure. It's a pretty optimistic "And the adventure continues!" ending all things considered.
>>735137965Exactly. The only ending you live is in the DLC. It rounds back to what Dexter asks>Quiet life>Blaze of glory
>>735129491you are an emotionally fragile person. stick to nintendo games.
>>735129491>play dystopian future game>why no happy ending? That's like asking why you can't just make peace with the orks in a wh40k game.
>>735138075The worst part of the Devil ending is exactly that. That said, I appreciate that he gets told to visit V in space.
Game has ludonarrative dissonance. Whole story we get reminded how painfully losing someone with jakie death, eva suicide and our own death but during the game we literally kill everyone around. There is no retrospective analysis. You just see 2-3 gang member chatting and just kill them for fun with your shotgun or a quickhack.
>>735138083I genuinely hope we get to scratch more off and see what's under the surface with these AIs, and the sea mines. After a certain amount of years surely the sea level will rise just out of displacement, and/or the core of where these mines are will explode.
>>735137869>they fucking dieIirc the last thing is they go into the aleph and are off to meet an intersteller AI
>>735138543>ludonarrative dissonanceThe part that sticks out to me is the interrogation with Hansen where if he doesn't like your dialogue choices, he just shoots you and you dieV sort of forgets that he's bulletproof and has super speed etc.
>>735138649>they go into the alephYeah they're as alive as the characters in Soma.Or Johnny Silverhand for that matter. The other protagonists even get to see/handle their corpses to really underline it.
>>735138667To be fair, Kurt is using a high-calibre pistol that can punch through armor and set you ablaze.
>noooooo you have to have a happy ending!!!Man babies.
>>735138543I stealth and use non-lethal takedowns. Don't tell me you actually go on cyberpsycho killing sprees, anon?
>>735138737>Cirno stopped superwinter without sacrifing geralt and survived and get male hormones which killed all female wannabe witchers >Geralt didn't die at the end of 3rd gameNooooo
>>735138786I'm a netrunner like Bartmos the chad. Just send tons of quickhacks and watch
>>735138695And i forgot, cowboy fucks up roon and gets with sarah. Best fucking cyberpunk story...Point being the cyberpunk genre is dystopian but the protags dont always have bad endings.
>>735138695>>735138649Every fiction has its own rules about this shit but in Neuromancer, Case literally sees "himself" standing on the virtual beach with his dead girlfriend and has an understated "Oh, the AI copied me when I was connected to it, neat" reaction to itBobby and Angie are 100% d-e-d
>>735138889I brought that up here >>735137372Hardwired's ending is basically pic related, and it concedes that whatever comes after the story we're seeing ends is going to be a shitshow that's going to cause a lot of upheaval and violence, but does so with a grin because the world needed a lot of upheaval and violence
Soul is memory and dataCopying soul creates another soulTwo copies or a copy and origin one are equal Turning human mind into ai is another step for evolution
Temperance is fine, after all V isn't any more alive than Johnny after the arasaka heist
>>735139040Kikokugai solved this shit elegantly with soul burn
>>735139040nice try ahriman
The net is hell and Alt is the mother to all daemons. My man Garry was right.
