Now that the honeymoon phase is over what do you think? I think ACNH does everything slightly better. Pokemon interactions are soulless, items/furniture aren't cute enough, areas being separated by gates doesn't feel good. Good game but not the AC killer I hoped for.

It's a neat idea for a game, and it's pretty cute, but I think the card thing is stupid and I'm not really interested enough to actually buy it.

I found pokopia to be tedious and not fun.

I was never able to get into Animal Crossing.
It always felt like an aimless Harvest Moon with less things to do to me.
I suppose Pokopia might have a lot of Animal Crossing similarities, but it still feels like it has way more concrete goals.
Raising the environment levels by raising everyone's comfort. Restoring/repairing the environments. Progressing through the quests. Unlocking new areas.
The exploration element of Pokopia is also on a whole other level to Animal Crossing. Even if the explorable environments are finite (ignoring the online or random stuff).

But Pokopia also gives you great freedom when doing all of these things. It offers great freedom and opportunities for creativity, while still retaining concrete goals.
It also doesn't handhold you anywhere even remotely close to as hard as I was expecting. I never played DQB2, but my (admittedly) experience with DQB1 quickly put me off with how the game kept, and kept railroading me and limiting my freedom. The game didn't even let go off the reins even after I had found and moved to an entirely new region. How far into the game did you even need to progress before attaining freedom? I was happily surprised to realize that Pokopia let's you do more or less whatever after the tutorial wraps up. Or slightly before then even.

But the Animal Crossing comparisons don't even feel particularly apt. Even though Rune Factory does combat, I'd probably compare it to Rune Factory over Animal Crossing.

This game is nothing like DQB as a game. The only similarities are how you move and build things, the whole game itself is completely different with lack of combat being the most obvious difference

So you haven’t played any of the games, got it
