Valhiem is shit solo unless you mod it for QoL
The factory games are mostly fine alone, factorio and satisfactory
Starrupture is great alone but the dev clearly wants 4 people to play it

Any advice for going to bars alone? Trying to start doing it lately because I meet nobody new any other way. One problem is I'm 30 and it seems every place is either for 100s of college kids to swarm on weekends, or sports bars full of 40 and 50 year olds. How do you find bars where you can just kind of chat with people who aren't toddlers or fossils?

This is why I don't play survival crafting games, or when I do I engage with the building mechanics as little as possible. If I'm going to build something for myself, I want it to be a physical item that exists IRL. A digital tree fort in a game I'll eventually delete from my hard drive just doesn't appeal to me.

Building things in DQB2 was just me building cool shit for myself. One I was pretty pleased about was an aquarium with a tunnel going through it, from the green to the snowy area on the island.
>>
>>735140128
Unironically, sports bars and football season.
That said, your generation doesn't go to bars. Your only company will be those older then you and the staff, who will be busy.
You might also look into "gastropubs". Those are typically on the small side with an emphasis on quality. Expensive though.
Repetition is key. Eventually you will be picked out as a regular, even if you don't say anything.
>>
>>735140128
Oh, also, Breweries.
A lot of breweries will have their own in-house restaurants where they serve food and drink.
Not all of them of course, and the quality of the food and drink is not always on par.
>>
>>735140185
Barcades are kind of trendy right now. People mostly seem stuck in their groups and the crowd can be kind of weird, but I might try sitting around at one some time.
>>735140351

>>
>>735140128
Look into some kind of "craftcade" business. Basically a bar that doubles as an arcade, that's your best bet for the 25-35 crowd.

>Play Sons of the Forest by myself
>shit's great
>friends get it during sale and want to play together

No, i will not play with people. I'll build my base with Kelvin, arm Virginia and fend the cannibals without extra tards.
>>
>>735141661
Survival games like the Forrest 1 and 2 and Subnautica lose their magic when you introduce other people. It makes it too easy to survive, part of the fun is the overcoming the obstacle and that you did it yourself.
I understand why people want to play those games with their friends but I have never enjoyed playing them with other people, always alone.
Same with DayZ, it's far easier to survive the world with other people and there is some fun to it, but there is something about just being alone, being solo and surviving doing everything yourself.

You know what, I agree. I haven't played mineycrafta since back in like 2012. But when I did, I made all sorts of elaborate things. I had a tower in the sky on top of a long pole like the one from dragonball. I had a giant pyramid with a bunch of redstone booby traps and secret rooms and passages and such, including an elaborate underground minecart layout that also went to a giant underwater glass dome with trees and plants and whatnot inside.

But when I finished all that, and stared back at it all. I just thought to myself "okay... now what?" The most interesting stuff, at least to me, were all the elaborate redstone secrets/traps/mechanisms etc, but they were all completely useless since I'm the only one there.

You could say that building for the sake of building something is the point. And I agree with that when it comes to IRL physical things, like making cool custom legos and whatnot. But when it's all just data in your digital minecraft world... eh.

Sometimes, if it's very sandboxy or the world is very shallow. It gives me an existential dread sort of feeling, I can't focus on the game and start thinking about how I'm wasting my life instead of changing my oil or riding my bike down a dirt road or doing anything at all that would be even a little productive/beneficial to myself. Something about games with other people helps keep those thoughts away, or games with very engaging gameplay, which I guess is very subjective since a lot of people might argue minecraft is engaging.

People are so washed. Even the alt-right incels are hooked on all of the consumerist garbage.

Capitalism fucked us up beyond repair. I know people who hate what companies and the government are doing to them and I tell them they can change that by no longer giving them money and then they get frantic and start acting like I ran over their child or something. They start going on about how they cannot possibly live without shit like youtube and spotify and start getting really defensive even though I pointed out that we survived perfectly fine without the shit not even a decade ago for some things.

It's definitely true that some people have made such a habit of funding a business that they can't imagine stopping. For those people specifically, I think it's best to treat that habit as an addiction. If someone can't imagine going to bed without posting on Twitter, they should put extra effort into not doing that.
>>
>>735160752
Yeah, it's a side effect of capitalism. It used to be normal to experience boredom. We have been conditioned to become very uncomfortable if we aren't actively being entertained or doing something.

It's not really about effort unfortunately, it's exposure to addictive and manipulative things. We're animals like any other.

Doesn't matter how well trained your dog is, if you stop feeding it and it's near your chickens, it will kill and eat them, for example. Willpower is just mastubatory ego shit we made up to attach to actions to make us feel like we're in control (or to shame/blame others).

>>
>>735161146
More effort as in actively try not to instead of doing whatever you want. That still takes more effort, even if it's not as involved as building a house. A lot of apps actively try to form habits because they're designed to be opened frequently and used for a long time. If someone has that habit, they have to specifically want to break it.

I believe it honestly. Had a couple 4chan friends on discord who would send me like ten tweets a day. Literally the most random shit with no consistency whatsoever. And no comments attached either, no “haha look at this funny thing i found online” or anything, no, just literally the tweet by itself with no further comment. It’s like they can only live their lives through other people. My own mom always shows me tiktoks she found funny and brags about her comments getting likes. My sister in law blogposts constantly on our family WhatsApp group chat. My little brother constantly rants about sportsball and how Tyrone Niggerson got scouted to the Philadelphia Cotton Pickers or whatever the fuck. It’s like they can’t acknowledge that something happened unless somebody else acknowledges it as well.
I genuinely think being able to live a solitary life is a superpower
>>
>>735162817
I'm not sure but if I had to guess it's a combination of generational differences combined with social pressure.
It makes sense that social things would propagate and persist while non-social things don't.
Consider a silly idea, 100% of people are extroverts, because when sampled the introverts were nowhere to be found.

If you have people going around loudly saying it's bad to do things alone it makes sense the idea would convince average people.
Even if those people were originally in the minority and society was different before.
Today is weird because you have the internet where all generations and walks of life are clashing their ideals.
So even if it's like little girls pushing this silly idea to their friends on twitter, you have people that don't know them reading it and thinking it's a normal typical way to be.
I guess? I don't fucking know.

One of my cousin's told me he only cares about people's reactions to things and nothing else. I don't think it's even possible for them to have emotions except vicariously.

I'm a zoomie and I got a funny interaction with much younger zoomies while playing alone on a DayZ ripoff server in MTA (GTA SA multiplayer).
Some Russian project had a couple of svs and all of them have lots of cool stuff to do like quests, collecting tons of added in weapons, unique enemies in certain locations, etc. and all the other younging zoomies were doing nothing but the same boring 1v1 or clan vs clan pvps at the military base.
I managed to survive for 100 hours with my character and those Brazilian cunts kept coming to my base chugging grenades trying to kill me and kept calling me a "tyrant" for not doing their gay ass pvp and actually enjoying the 90% of content they never get to see. Every time I logged in some asshole from their clan was on and started throwing shit trying to kill me but my base was stacked full with food and water. They kept screaming random shit in the proximity VC and kept calling me weird things for not doing pvp.
Playing alone is a kill that mindbreaks the poor multiplayer-focused cretins.

that's true even with multi unless you are playing on a populated server with new people coming in all the time. In 2012 I spent a week with my roommate making a small town a few hours a day after class and when we were done we never logged into the server again. Same thing happened a few years later when I joined around twenty randoms making finalizing their city build, once it was done the server kinda died. It's only interesting if you endlessly add projects or if there's a server-wide RP/objective that makes use of your builds.

Your last point I am feeling more and more as I age though, just too aware of it all being digital and useless so I can't enjoy the grind or build anymore.

Different environment, different triggers. How do we get ourselves into those environments or expose ourselves to those triggers? Well, that's another set of environmental factors and triggers in my opinion. You *know* you could leverage the visits to detox from a bad habit, but you don't - why? It's not a lack of will power, discipline or any synonym, it's just that you happen to be a bag of meat reacting to stimulus in the way your brain developed to react.

People like to think we have control over decisions, so we call it free will. You visiting your parents is triggered by a behavioral loop that reacts to specific stimulus. It just so happens that the cascading effect leads you to what you feel like will improve your life (kicking a bad habit).

Did I ever have a point? I don't know, I'm drinking hazy IPAs so it's all a bit fuzzy. I guess I'll just go back to how people don't do these things just because they have the idea in their heads, they have to be properly motivated and dictated by those pesky glands.

tl;dr you're predisposed to doom scroll and you're predisposed to being annoyed by it but it's going likely going to take some external factor to properly motivate you to quit that shit and life is just a pointless simulation. the end.

It's a shame I've never found mods that make Minecraft a game I enjoy playing because just the building is nice, but I wish there was some questing or npcs or better combat or anything to give block stacking some context

Leftoids ("jews") are grooming a populace of compliant and oversocialized retards who can't function without constant company and affirmation.
These are the pathetic and feeble sort of "last men" Nietzsche spoke of.

You forget to crouch walk and you fall off and take damage or die if your health is low enough. Or a Creeper sneaks up on you.

After having a bitchy "Princess Treatment" girlfriend for a cool minute, going alone to a restaurant and ordering myself a steak and whiskey is one of the most therapeutic experiences in life. Making it at home even more so, but some nights I just like to have it easy.

What's everybody's go-to alone-time game? Mine is Noita.

>Work was next to a theater
>after work just go there and not go home
>got out of work around 2 pm so no lines for tickets, could fuck around in the arcade, no lines for snacks, no lines for the bathroom, empty theater so get to pretend like it was my own personal home theater and sat where ever, no one talking or eating loud, no kids since I went to see R rated movies.
Good times.

These zoomies need other people to talk to themselves, they call it "podcasting", gayest shit I've ever heard.

My natural inclination is just to reject it now. If you grew up with it though, you probably literally view it as a requirement for life.

I've been to all these places with either one friend, a small group of friends, or by myself. All were more fun by myself, with the exception of a restaurant because I'd rather just eat at home anyway.
Bars on my own are great experiences, I get a beer and some duck fat fries and just watch Sports in my corner, give a greeting to anyone who sits next to me and enjoy my time

This is never not cope. Humans are social animals.

I mean, if you want to save face, at least say you're making the best of it. You aren't fooling anyone, probably not even yourself.

Deep Rock Galactic, just turn my brain off and blast bugs. Used to be sniping on 2042 but the game is too dead now, just before I stopped playing I kept running into the same 4 man squads steamrolling the map every night.
I wish I was good enough at Noita to enjoy it as a comfy game, I just keep putting myself in situations where I die to obscured barrels or off-screen projectiles blindsiding me

Trying to normalfag shame anons is the easiest way to spot newfags
>>
>>735177884
Why? I go to the movies alone and have never once even had the cashier or usher mention anything about it, they dgaf. See plenty of other solos in there as well, mainly if you go in the afternoon (unemployed, service industry or people dodging their job)

I honestly don't think so. I don't think we get many newfags these days besides mossad agents.

I really wish they had a transparent/wire-frame option for VR/FPV mode, as well as a track minimap.
