What happened to water physics in games? It was so hyped in the past. Very few games have fully destructible environments too

>>735137316making all of that shit link fluidly (no pun intended) requires skill and effort.UE5 and the new bull dyke game for most current reference, are built and designed for unskilled devs who DONT WANT to be skilled. they just want to tell a story, or push a narrative.
>>735137928There is only one narrative, mine
Bump
>Geomod>Euphoria animations>Optimised graphics>Fun gameplayI'm so tired of all this lost technology
>>735137316modern gaming is nothing but corporate trend chasing. focus on physics isn't a proven concept so it isn't pursued.
It's very expensive and takes the time of your most skilled employees for very little return. So it's an easy cut.
>>735140495It just makes me sad. In the 90s and 2000s it felt like vidya technology was constantly advancing. Even console games got crazy new physics and simulations and features. Then in the 2010s it slowed more and more until you hit the stagnant point we’ve been at for the entirety of the 2020s.
>>735140725It's one thing indies will likely never replicate because of the technical requirements.
>>735137316fluid simulation isn't easy and is computationally demanding.
>>735137316Video game water peaked with Hydro Thunder and Wave Race 64
UBOAT has some of the best looking water effects I've seen.
I still remember Half Life 2...
>>735145145Never heard of it
>>735137316How do you expect devs to implement this when there's no water physics kit on the UE5 asset store...
>>735137316You actually need to learn math.
