Happy DLC day!
>>
is it autism awareness day already?
>>
>>735139429
I'm celebrating by making symmetric solves for every puzzle
>>
Ive still yet to do the last (?) chapter levels. Ive did the first 4. Special Amaro, Vapor of Levity, and everything after im 2 dum 2 solve
>>
>>735139991
just take your time
>>
>>735140212
Wanted to share my viscous sludge to show how slow it is, and i cant even upload the guf, because its like 6mb in size
>>
>>735140732
convert it to webm or put it in a catbox
>>
>>735139772
>>
>>
>>735138525
oh nice
>>
isn't even out for another 3 hours
>>
>>
Im doing the "one armed bandit" challenge now, all puzzles have to be solved with one arm. tracks are allowed. im in act IV now
>>
>>
>>735139429
It's BPD awareness day, hence Tsundere Tetallica.
>>
>>735139991
One done. Fuck these are difficult. Or im just dumb. I feel like my brain is fried
>>
>tired: area
>wired: convex area
>inspired: symmetrical area
>>
three products for an even output is a fucking pain to symmetrize
>>
>>
never had the makings of a varsity alchemist.
>>
>>735138525
>de re METALLICA
I'm emailing Lars as I post this
>>
>>735151971
Zachtronics v Metallica would be a hilarious case. two autists head to head.
De Re Metallica is a classic scholarly work from centuries ago.
>>
>not a free update
>>
>>735156486
It is free if you know what you're doing.
>>
>>735138525
>>
Adding retracting arms to the game was a mistake. It makes everything too easy.
>>
>>735138525
Is there anything lars won't license?
>>
>>735156687
What do the new gilfs do?
>>
>>735156825
Have not played it yet but it seems to lower ranking the metal by 1 and creating a lead component
>>
>>735156825
Decrease the rank of the metal by 1 and generate a Quicksilver

What now?
>>
>>735156745
they're supposed to be. more than any other of zach's games, the core of opus magnum is making a bigass shitty inefficient solution at first and then autistically optimizing it later. and retracting arms are almost never the ideal solution for either cycles or cost

I thought Zack quit gamedev to be a teacher or some shit?
Who made it?
>>
>>735158864
he came back
>>
Christ I'm making a mess, I swear I wasn't always this bad at the game
>>
>>735158864
he stopped teaching
this was basically a fan-mod thing that he converted into the game over the past two years
>>
>>735158864
He quit being a teacher because he couldn't stand the retard itoddlers
>>
>>
>>735158864
He quit being a teacher because he couldn't wake up in the morning and decided going to school is too authoritarian for his anarchist mind
>>735159459
This never happened, unc projecting again
>>
Optimizing is back on the menu. I'll play more later.
>>
>>735158864
He's been back for a while. There was a whole game they released last year.
>>
Real-life alchemical symbols:
https://www.unicode.org/charts/PDF/U2600.pdf
https://www.unicode.org/charts/PDF/U1F700.pdf
>Symbol for vitae (life) actually means sulfur IRL
>Symbol for mors (death) actually doesn't exist IRL (the closest match means iron sulfate)
Of course, 4chan filters all these symbols if you try to use them.

I have the type of tism that doesn't allow me to play games unless first played in release order
I'm still stuck on Spacechem
>>
>>735165649
that's his hardest game and the only one I never completed
>>
>>735165649
They're not even sequels
>>
Why is everyone already so much faster than me. I didn't even get space, and I'm not looking forward to doing this with only 1 arm.
>>
>>735156825
squeeze out quicksilver from hard rods
>>
I'm not sure why this needed to be production alchemy.
>>
>>735165965
The space restriction becomes so fucking tough in the latter levels, even with multiple reactors
>>735166152
I know I'm just stupid that way I just want to see the way their game dev 'sensitivities' shifted
>>
>>735169169
Cycles son
>>
So some of the levels in the DLC use the limited space thing they added post-launch? I didn't like the base game because it's kinda boring to have infinite space.
>>
>>735172489
I'm just going with whatever solution comes up first. I'll optimize later.

>Zach sold his brainchild to a holdings company
Why is it that every westerner hates ownership?
>>
>>735158864
He sold it to a holdings company so that they can squeeze the IP dry
https://www.alliance.games/about
>>
>>735173347
Life is getting real fucking expensive
>>
>>735146493
It might help to try optimizing for area and/or cost on some of the earlier, simpler puzzles. You'll learn some techniques that way.
The box puzzles are definitely hard though.
>>
>>735175380
Gee I wonder why. Maybe the government should stop dipping into people's earnings.
>>
I'm kinda miffed that dividing a metal isn't the exact opposite of combining them.
