A good game, but wasted potential
A bad movie.
a good game but not a final fantasy game whatsoever. the worst parts of the game are mitigated by knowing about them going into it, just enjoy it for what it is
A very fun video game with a few too many cutscenes, some pacing issues, an overly grim plot, and a tacked-on crafting system. Not perfect, but a game I'll remember for a long time.
a 7.5/10 action game that's called final fantasy for some reason
Kino of the highest order, and don't let the philistines of /v/ tell you otherwise.
>>735145309Basically Asura's Wrath with an FF flavorThe basic game is mostly an excuse for cool cutscenes. As a movie is amazing, as a game is alright but the cutscenes get too much in the way for my taste.Still a good time if you put up with it, a solid 7/10 for me desu, but yeah, could have been A LOT better.
>>735145309I would smash my hand with a hammer before playing nufantasy.Make jrpg or at least copy team ninja that mogged the fuck out of the garbage you make.
A fucking slog 98% of the time with some kino thrown in there. Actually playing this shit after seeing it get glazed to hell and back made me realize how trash the average FF fan must be.
A solid 20 hour game stuck inside a mind-numbing 50 hour game.
>>735145309attacks doing 0.1% of boss health bar per hit because the MMO faggot developers are obsessed with curated encounter times.
>>735145309A long, pretentious movie with lots of filler.
A kinda meh game that will only be remembered for being better than Flopbirth.
>>735145309cozy dark fantasy kino
>>735150274I only remember it as the 100 million dollar budget action slop that got brutally mogged by shitpost of paradise
That space is fake right. I thought it was like 60 or 80 on ps5
>>735145309Devil may cry structured like FFXIV MSQ.
>>735151412>Devil may cryTemu DMC
a terrible game, ask for a refund
>>735145309dogshit writing
>>735145309Boring and predictable story. Boring gameplay, get ready to see the same combo over 2000 times. Annoying brit voice acting.I really don't get why jap devs love British VA. It's grating to a certain degree for me.
>>735151459Technically the game does play like DMC till you get enough Abilities that it just becomes CD spam like FFXIV.
>>735151725It kinda plays like it but it's the most boring version made. I still can't believe the dev really talked this combat up like it was going to rival DMC 5 in any meaningful way. I truly hate this game.
Id argue the game despite what most people say is not all that bad.DMC fags judge it as bad because its a more simplistic version of DMC while ignoring the fact its a story focused JRPG.And JRPG fags judge it to hard because its primarily a DMC like action game.Eikon boss fights are like asuras wrath. Its a flawed but enjoyable game.
>>735145309Mid action game with generic story
Worse than XV, better than Rebirth.
>>735152003It's just a toned down version of good games though. The giant boss fights are straight up copy and paste. The combat is so watered down that you do the exact same shit over and over again because there is no enemy variety besides how they look. It's barely an rpg because that is so watered down too. It's half baked garbage. I seriously don't understand how anyone defends or promotes this garbage.
>>735145309A half-assed Platinum game with MMO design. It's still fun enough, but you'll constantly wish they either went all in on making an action game or all in on making an RPG instead of half of each.
>>735152003>its a story focused JRPG.>its primarily a DMC like action game. The problem is it's bad at both of those. It's easy to wonder why the fuck fire spells and ice spells do the same damage against every enemy. You'll think of other RPGs with a better story. You'll think of other side quests more fun than these. Also, you'll think of action games that just have a basic move to launch enemies into the air like Dante's High Time. You'll think of action games that don't have cooldowns on their moves and just balance them to be used whenever. You'll think of action games that don't have a stagger bar. It's a hybrid that won't satisfy either crowd. For comparison, Nioh 2 is also both action and RPG, but it's fun either way.
>>735145309I tried it for a few hours and dropped it. Its terrible... omg it's awful.
>>735145309Its okay, but its HARD carried by its presentation and spectacle. Everything else outside of its presentation is mediocre (combat) to outright terrible (side quests, exploration, itemization, progression system).
Definition of trash
>>735151709I'd take british theater actors that actually do a half decent job over the same awful texan nepotism va circle that had a stranglehold on dubs for years
>>735151709The setting is so heavily based on Eurasian countries that it would seem especially out of place if everyone talked with an American accent.
>>735156449>gobbling up the youtube fecal matteryour brain is tainted, your mind is no longer your own, you are a contrarian driven by other contrarians who feed on your desire to find solidarity in being contrarian. when did you last find something genuinely fun, without being told to?ff16 is not perfect, but it is a very good video game.
>>735145309150 gigs seems insane for this game
>>735145309None meme answer, you're in for a decent game that's structured like a single player version of FF14.Game has terrible pacing issues, good voice actors who make the characters, graphics are good, combat is serviceable if boring especially for a FF game.Story is amazing for the first 1/3 then nose dives, then picks up again so be warned. There's no party system, it doesn't play like any other FF game in how it sets up the lack of rpg elements, magic, status effects e.t.c. None of that is in the game, you can literally use a Fire Eikon attack against a boss made of Lava. It's a one and done type of game, good for a single playthrough but be warned it's incredibly heavy on cutscenes, pacing is really bad, a lot of dialogue, side quests are straight MMO fetch quests. There are no minigames.Exploration is none existent. No overworld map.Everything is locked behind a loading screen when you want to travel somewhere. There's a single Moogle. There's so much wrong with the game but like I said, good for a single play through.Rising Tide DLC is also really good if only they made the entire game in that style it would have done so much better, there are actual rpg elements, loot/ rewards, customisation, better world exploration in Rising Tide than the main game it's insane.
>>735145309Let's start with the gameplay. The big focus is on the eikon abilities, but the eikon abilities are all on MMO style cooldowns. There's nothing you can do about the cooldowns, you just use them and do your one 4-hit filler combo in the meantime. Compare to SoP or FF7R where all your cool shit uses a resource, and you're rewarded with said resource for staying on the offensive and engaging with the enemy. That isn't the case in XVI, you just dump your skills and fuck around swinging your 4-hit toothpick filling the time. That's boring. What makes it worse is that there's only one character, with one weapon. So you can't even change up your filler playstyle.Character progression is on rails which is something FFXIII rightfully got shit on for. You get a new eikon every like 10 hours of gameplay and once you do get it there's no way to get anything else. You're storygated out of further cool shit. Character levels not only don't matter at all, but the exp gain is scaled so it stalls out when you start matching enemy levels, preventing you from grinding up. Not that it would matter, because those levels gain you nothing.Weapon crafting is completely pointless. Each dungeon/boss gives you a material you use to upgrade to the next sword, which just raises your damage by +5 (meaningless). There's literally no point to this system existing, and yet 90% of all treasure you find are materials for this system that has nothing to craft.
>>735161707There are moments in the game where you literally watch a 45 minute cutscene, regain control, walk five steps forward, and get thrust into another 45 minute cutscene. The moviegame bloat is unreal, complete with slow forced walk and talk segments, squeezing past narrow corridors, and 'hold the triggers to do thing' QTEs. There are over 20 HOURS of cutscenes in this game. And that's not including the stilted canned emote sidequest cutscenes you'll spend another 20 hours watching.Sidequests are ripped straight out of FFXIV. They exist just to fill time and for nothing else. Listen to someone spend 10 minutes telling you how and why they need an object on the other side of the map. Walk over and pick it up. Go back. Bam, more crafting materials you can't use. Thrilling. There is no exploration. There are four giant open world areas with nothing in them but MMO sidequests, and there are hallway dungeons. The hallway dungeons are also ripped straight from FFXIV with the same two trash packs -> mini boss -> two trash packs -> mini boss -> two trash packs -> final boss structure.Eikon fights have spectacle, but that's all they have. Segments like the Phoenix fight at the start, or the Garuda fighting game segment, or the Phoenix vs Bahamut segment are all on rails and impossible to fail. They're cutscenes. The only time the game is remotely challenging are in the chronostones (I think that's what they were called) where you have to use one specific eikon and fulfill challenges to keep your time up. The rest of the game you can sleep through. FF Mode isn't any better because you have all eikons out the gate and can just blast everything even more easily than in normal mode.
>>735161768Onto the story. The premise of the game is awesome. And then it gets rugpulled almost the instant the demo ends. Within five minutes of the demo ending you watch Clive regain his freedom, his girlfriend, get a new job. Even his dog inexplicably returns at that same moment. And then you play for another hour and find out that he didn't even kill Joshua (hilariously, this comes immediately after he has his big moment of accepting """the truth""" that he killed Joshua). In other words, nothing in the demo mattered. It amounts to nothing except for baiting the player. What makes it worse is that later on you find out that Joshua has a personal ninja cult who was there at Phoenix Gate the night of the attack, and they just didn't intervene. They didn't even attempt to save Joshua, they just literally did nothing until they appeared to yank his unconscious body away off screen. It's nonsense. It's very clearly stitched together from several different drafts. You have shit like Ultima appearing in the demo wearing Joshua's face and robe. He then appears in the same guise leading Clive to Garuda. But then... Joshua isn't Ultima. Joshua is just Joshua and Ultima never appears wearing his guise again. It's never commented on, it's just obviously a draft in which Ultima used Phoenix to possess Joshua's corpse or something. You spend the majority of the game's story dealing with Sanbreque and its political situation. Actually most of the cutscenes for the entire game's story are about it. So it must be important, right? Nope. It's just filler. Ultima is fucking around with Sanbreque trying to conquer a continent... that he already has control of. He's literally doing it for no reason. And once Olivier and Clive's mom die, nobody ever mentions the plotline again. It just vanishes, because it actually didn't matter.
