Btw, the guy who this law was named after supposedly just ran to the US to live there, probably figured out that a good deal of teenagers, programmers and etc want his head, alongside multiple companies who will have to spend gorillions reestructuring

It didnt exactly, this was put into law around 2 weeks after the UK put a similar law into effect, our gov is just copying it and hiding a bunch of other stuff inside it as subclauses, the difference is the BR government is made of retarded fags and they made it so ALL software is subjected to it, alongside sneaking in that you now require a local federal judicial Id to have a company or bussiness in Brasil or our big comms institution gets it blocked
Theyre also passing a law right now that allows them to monitor VPNs and block them appropriately alongside punishing anyone who uses it

Welcome to the BR version of the great firewall of china, a much more retarded and backwards version that will set back our tech development even further

To note, the US bills largely are based around porn thus far (since material that is "harmful to minors" is what the Supreme Court green lite last year, which historically has mostly been limited to porn), though some newer efforts are also targeting social media and seeing how the court ends up handling it.

Also the new Utah bill that is about to pass will be the first that tried to affect VPNs, and includes a tax on "free" speech if the state of Utah considers it legally "harmful to minors" even if it is protected free speech for adults.

All loot boxes are also now rated 18+ (and requires age verification) in Brazil with the new law.
>>
>>735149558

>>
>>735148329
The US bills are fucking retarded and never going anywhere. The cali one is what everyone is basing theirs off of and its fucking retarded and outright states it needs to be rewritten before the 2 years pass for implementation because they have no idea how to get it to work.
>>
Did you know entire books were written about how mandating seatbelt usage would be a step to tyranny? Food for thought.
>>
>>735149751
The mobile phone platforms are implemented age verification themselves in Brazil (as well as a handful of US states that have targeted social media websites where the court cases are ongoing), rather than leaving it to the individual gacha games to implement. So it isn't likely to lead to a gacha ban in practice.
>>
>>735146228
The authoritarian nanny states of Australia and the UK I understand but Brazil is the last place I expected this to happen, does not bode well for the future of the internet
>>
>>735146228
Finally, this is how all countries should be treated that are trying to force this fucking spyware into everything. Cut off the UK next since they're acting like patient 0 for a lot of this bullshit
>>
>>735149790
In practice in the US over the next few years, state based age verification laws will be tested in court to determine how far the courts will allow them (currently, they have been found constitutional for porn platforms with the supreme court case last year), then at some point down the road a federal law will get passed that incorporates whatever the courts decided to allow and preempt the individual state laws.

This happens worldwide.
Noticing.
>>
>>735147206
Worldwide, Louisiana's original age verification bill for porn sites was ground zero for all of this, as other states followed soon after with very similar laws. That said, other places like Australia were the first to implement it for non-porn content.

Half the US has age verification bills for porn websites already on the books (in practice defined as platforms that have 1/3rd of their content being considered legally harmful to minors, which generally is restricted to porn), and now states are pushing age verification other other websites especially social media (Utah and Louisiana are going online over the next few months, while a Texas law is under a legal hold)

The US is probably going to be ahead of Europe outside the UK with their age verification (although the courts in the US are probably more likely to block laws then European countries when porn or gambling isn't involved).

In Brazil loot boxes now get 18+ ratings, and need some type of age verification. But because that actually affects their revenue, Google and Apple are implementing age verification on the phones itself with the ability to pass an age range via API to an app developer so gacha companies just need to make use of that in Brazil.

Basically, this pedo-looking e-celeb posted a video about how discord is full of groomers. Senators instantly had a melty and rushed a law to "protect" children on the internet, by making all those "I'm older than 18" checkboxes on the internet require actual identification. Retards think that's going to save children instead of just giving your data for free to everyone on the internet. Some services are just tapping out of Brazil because they don't want to/can't implement ID verification.
Amusingly, the president was supposed to join a ceremony to sign and celebrate the implementation of that law today, but he pussied out too.

>>
>>735146228
so basically any publisher smaller than Valve or Microsoft can no longer sell games in Brazil? these laws are going to turn steam into an actual monopoly.

in the case of brazil, it is election year and our president thinks that this will garner him votes, literally the only reason he is doing this. But he probably forgot that most grannies and other people will get pretty pissed about it and people who are 16 can vote, so he actually asked for some "changes" before he signs into law. The changes are probably just to ask only games and social media maybe.
>>
>>735162357
At the moment nobody really knows how to make it work. Eventually as lawyers explain to companies how costly it is to comply to absurd regulations, chances are their lobby will succeed in convincing the same politicians to approve endless amounts of exceptions and loopholes.

What will probably happen is that either the US or EU will force through some kind of law with vague requirements just saying some kind of verification is needed, the tech industry will lobby heavily for a solution they can live with and third parties can tap into, and the rest of the world will adapt whatever that ends up being.

The issue is that they want to ban anyone that doesn't comply, and fine their companies literally 50 million a day.

>comply with data harvest
>get fined and banned (this is where 4chan will most likely fall)
>block huezil entirely

>>735164648
Most age verification in the US to date has been red states targeting porn site, with using language that exempts mainstream social media (1/3rd of the content needs to be "harmful to minors"), and half the country has these laws. The states passing these laws weren't particularly concerned about fucking over the platforms, as they saw that as a benefit.

Now seeing how these laws have spread, other jurisdictions (including a mix of political leaning states in the US) are pushing to expand age verification to platforms that actually will draw backlash, and each seem to have their own idea about how to deal with the logistics to avoid a broad backlash, such as California's OS level verification. I'll note that the FSC who made that map has been lobbying for OS level systems for a couple years now, since they understand that age verification isn't going away and for the platforms they represent an OS approach is far preferable to trying to handle it themselves, which is likely why they don't include it on their bill tracker there.

The tax burden on a PlayStation 5 in Brazil is exceptionally high due to cumulative federal and state taxes, often making it one of the most expensive countries to buy the console. As of mid-2022, import taxes on video games and consoles were reduced, but the total tax burden still accounts for a significant portion of the final price

Tax Percentage: Historically, taxes and import fees on consoles like the PlayStation in Brazil have constituted roughly 60% to 70% of the final consumer price.

>>
>>735167446
None. Buy the pass, goy.
>>
>>735166748
I'm not disagreeing, but the reason the FSC is fine with it is that for someone running a porn site, using a built in OS level request is much easier (and free) compared to needing to contract an expensive third party to handle age verification yourself.

The FSC is happy with that approach, which is why they are fine with bills using that approach and don't track it on their maps, while users absolutely shouldn't be (but of course there is no good method for users, all of this should have been thrown out by the courts but it wasn't)

None of that has anything to do with the clients that the Free Speech Coalition represents though, which are adult platforms. If you are running say Pornhub, the law that lets you get information from the browser that "yeah this user is 18+", done largely in the background is much better for your business then the one that says "spend money on a third party age verification company to run an age verification check that 90% of users will ignore and head to some other platform outside of US jurisdiction".

The question originally was about why the FSC doesn't highlight the California law, the answer is they are fine with it. None of that has anything to do with how it fucks over people using their OS.

Well, Rockstar Games clearly does. They’re only blocking purchases from their own store because they don’t want to deal with the logistics or waste time implementing ID verification in a store that barely anyone uses. That’s also why their games are still available on Steam and other storefronts. And whether people have shitty income or not, the average Brazilian will still go into debt to play their games, it’s still money for them, whether it’s 3% of their revenue or less.

None of it is to protect kids. In fact I would say 90% of everything made for that explicit purpose has nothing to do with protecting kids.
That aside and what everyone else said aside, kids should be policed by their parents, not the web. Tablet parents offering their tard child an ipad and getting mad when said tard finds bestgore4free.ru or something should be beaten in the streets. The parents are responsible for the tech their kid has access to in their household. The parents are the ones who decide if little timmy gets a computer in his room or if he has to use the family PC in the living room for schoolwork and fortnite or the like. The parents are the ones who have access to parental controls. The parents are the ones that educate their kids on stuff not taught in school. Why shit up everything for everyone else because parents don't want to be accountable for the minors under their guardianship? And I know it's for gov monitoring but fuck man, it's so dumb.

The Jews got genuinely shook by how much free speech erased decades of lies and propaganda and want to stop and kill free speech before they get 110'd by the entire planet.

TikTok and X and Instagram are chock-full of content creators naming the Jew and redpilling everyone, the average normie now are saying 2009 4chan tier shit and it's hilarious.

It's why they swiped TikTok almost instantly and banned anyone exposing Jews and sold it to a Jew "Ellison"

All of this was possible because of anonymity, if they tie everyone's actual identity to their internet activity via "protect muh children" laws free speech would be dead overnight.

Because the moment you name the Jew you will lose your job, your bank account, your access to social media forever and basically your life.

The ADL and Meriam adelson are directly financing and spearheading this but funneling it into nameless or vague NGOs and made-yesterday lobbying "bribery" dark money.

I like modding gta, I rely on brazillian mods for my 3d era games, this is more terrible news for the same benign modding communities that have existed basically problem free since the dawn of the internet all because the government have decided that we can't be trusted to look after ourselves and make informed media decisions like fucking adults, or parents with children even
I feel this one
>>
>>735172862
it's not for the children. it's been repeated a million times. it's about control

it still fucking bugs me that's the given reason for all of this
it's so condescending, it's like those fucking bottlecaps
that's not something they did for us, that's something they did to make their lives easier while they pursue their shitty agenda (in the case of bottlecaps, recycling)

idk I'm trying to keep this as relevant as possible because this is a good thread but if it ends up too /pol/-bait it can just get imp'd or pruned
>>
>>735172862
The thing is that ironically enough, it's also easier than ever to fake an ID or proxy a different region, all thanks to the same tools used to make the verifiers work.
But either way, yeah. It really doesn't make sense that it's suddenly everyone's responsibility to make sure the little idiot that one parent let have a phone at age 4 doesn't find a man slicing his cock open because they cannot be fucked to set up parental controls or, God forbid, give their kid a TOY instead of a phone. Which is again just justification for more surveillance but still.
>>
>>735171227
Why do they want it if they hate kids anyway
>>
>>735170246
Funnily enough Germany blocks those kind of verification laws. They're at complete odds with our privacy protections laws. Every time someone tried to do it courts smacked it down immediately.

party forever and leave the state and others to do the rest while we sustain these fuckers.
literal marie antoniete shit, minus the proto commies aka jacobines, they all want to do the naked matrix orgy forever and make everything resolve around them.
And this is what happens when you grow morons like these without proper punishment or yelling a huge no in their faces as proper parents used to do.

I kinda wish to know who began the "you cant slap your children, is le bad" fake psychiatry that they follow blindly.

the worst part is that the age verification goes through some foreign third-party private company funded by god knows who and whose intentions with my private information are entirely unknown

Tl;dr is that databases used by feds and corps are absolutely fucked due to bot and AI poisoning everything, the only way to fix it is by confirming who is human and who is not, but it won't work because they won't stop using bots and AIs, so the databases will be poisoned again, not only that but hackers are going to eat very well after stealing millions of IDs or face scan data.

Legally there's nothing to do. Brazilian Supreme Court only needs its own approval to pass laws. They even assed a law where only someone from the supreme court can hire another judge for the supreme court itself, meaning they pretty much give no say for anyone else but themselves to have power.
