ITT we seriously discuss DLLS 5, how it works, what it does great and what it does bad without the constant whining and spam of le gamers posting fake edits.
IMO this could be potentially an awesome tech but still has many issues.
First thing that stood out for me is that it completely removes and depth to shadows, it's like it can either go 100% brightness or 0% brightness with nothing in between. It can be seen in many of the previews NVidia showcased.
Another thing is that it seems to turn every face into some diddy baby oiled surface that reflects any light source, looks like dogshit AI training data on Nvidia's side.
But I also think that it adds a lot of details to rendered scenes which is super nice, bit as mentioned before it unnecessary cranks brightness to 100%.
All I hope for is that developers will have a massive input on how this AI DLSS 5 will render the game, as Nvidia said that it's a tool that devs can adjust themselves how it renders things. It also has a potential to bring ENB/RTX lighting to older games, as it was said that technically it can even run in Minecraft, potentially the best Skyrim ENB if tweaked correctrly.
