What the FUCK went so wrong?
>>
>>735159745

anons, get ready for the most mindless spammiest jew distraction threads you have ever seen as they try to drown out the love for Death stranding 2 and Crimson desert this week
>>
>>735159745
Nothing. They messed up overly scripting narrative moments and the death timer was too aggressive for the reflective mood of the Otago where you wanted to manage your troops and listen to the ambient soundtrack but otherwise it was a solid game. A sequel could easily iron out those problems.
>>
>>735159745
It was kino (except the last mission)
>>
>>735159745
It was actually preddy gud for its price when it came out. Some weird amalgamation of squad management and xcom and stealth. At some point the stealth became much harder to do due to respawning enemies and unpredictable paths, but having the sniper class with a supressor took care of most of that issue.

Ending suck

what about how it's obviously unfinished? >UI is soulless
>troop upgrade trees are very boring and most things are useless.
>bugs that completely ruin your run like command points not regenerating.
>Hunt mechanic is fucking broken and will keep ticking down toward aggression events even if no aliens see you and you're doing a scripted event
>Aliens will beeline to your location after a rest even when you're undetected and start breaking your weld, initiating a hunt
>if you kill a stasis alien without it noticing you, a hunt is initiated for no reason even though you remained undetected
>Voice acting sucks and it's obvious they had the male commander in a more commanding prominent role until they decided to make him kowtow to every single woman you meet.
The actual gameplay is fun and they almost had something great but it's obvious they rushed it out unfinished before the american election for reasons known only to them.

Forcing you to do therapy is insane and breaks my immersion because I'm pretty sure they told Ripley she needed therapy in Aliens and she said fuck that because she's an actual strong female character.
They already give you XP when somebody dies so they shouldve made trauma incurable but give you huge buffs with the huge debuffs - like use 3x more ammo but you have an increased crit rate.

Almost nothing! The game was an absolute treat for Aliens fans. Although i really do wonder why the game fell off so hard at the city level. They didn't step off the pedal at all until then. For a 20 hour campaign i replayed at least 4 times it's absolutely worth 40 bucks.
>>
>>735162012
The game needed some way to cure trauma. It's not even mandatory, on my first playthrough i didn't use it once and my soldiers performed just fine.
>>
>>735162012
Just an excuse to have you swap marines, albeit a shit one Fatigue would work better desu
>>
After a while the hunts became really annoying and gay. Stacking turrets trained down the same hallway was awesome.

Nothing, Probably my fourth of fifth favorite ayylmao game. Stop using that retarded ironic UUUUUUUUH WHAT WENT WRONG you saw on twigger and just say you want to discuss the game, faggot.

it got you to post in my thread

top-down gameplay, yaaaaaaawn

Anyone else absolutely loves clearing out any and all levels with just carefully leapfrogging turrets forever?
If there is thousands of turrets, I am with the turrets. If there is one turret in an urethra, I am that urethra.

What are your top 3 or 4 ayylmao games

wouldve been better with pixel graphics and more roguelite mechanics

I thought the game was pretty good considering the size of the studio and their lackluster library of games that they released before Dark Descent. A lot of what >>735160557 brought up rings true but I'd like to add my two main gripes that I have with it.

>RTS
The game is ostensibly a RTS game but you have no way to actually control individual units in a game where individual units perform important actions. When you loot a box, one of your guys gets randomly picked to go and loot it but there's no way to CHOOSE which guy goes to do it. This issue repeats for a lot of things like welding doors and setting up turrets and so on. If I want to position my guys throughout the room in a specific way for the scripted defense sequences I shouldn't be forced to keep them in the blob they permanently exist in. This issue also exists for the ARC/APC where it can only be in very specific pre-determined locations. They obviously did that for balance reasons because the APC is invulnerable and has infinite ammo, but maybe make the damn thing less OP so I can actually use it as a real unit.

>balance
Game's horribly balanced. Once you get a recon with a suppressor you can reliably smoke all patrolling enemies before they can spot you (although it's a pain in the ass because you can't actually tell the scout to go first and peek around a corner, you just have to send your entire team into and out of the room until your recon is the only one peeking). Combined with a sergeant or two to give you infinite command points and turn off the stress mechanic, nearly every mission can be fully completed easily in one go, and the death clock becomes a nothingburger. This is exacerbated by the fact the most fun part of the game is having your guys shoot at big crowds of aliens, but the best way to play the game is to do everything in your power to prevent that from happening and avoiding all optional fights.

I would buy a sequel day one desu senpai
I played this game pirated and enjoyed it so much i bought it on steam and did a second playthrough right away on the highest difficulty
Plot is beyond retarded but the gameplay resonated heavily with me.
As other anons pointed out the respawn timer was a bit fucked up but it would have been too easy to just stealth most missions if it was just a bit more lenient
The upgrading/customizing of the soldiers could have used some more development, the Otago part of the game is a bit undercooked, but the missions were all fun

Fucking great game
>>
>>735159745
The developers failed to make a good game.
Simple as.
>>
>>735168290
>When you loot a box, one of your guys gets randomly picked to go and loot it but there's no way to CHOOSE which guy goes to do it.
you CAN switch marines after trigger an action to make certain marines do stuff but the AI and the UI are so unresponsive that the game actively fights you from being able to do this. you HAVE to enable pause on action select to be able to fine tune things and that kind of goes against the design philosophy so the devs force you to undermine them to have fun.
>welding doors
there is a drone that can do this that you have to burn an upgrade on but you have to manually select it which takes several clicks and even then you STILL have to have a repair part in your inventory. if I'm buying the drone and spending a slot to take the marine that has the drone, should be able to do it without the repair part.
