I can't enjoy nu-fighting games. its basically all gaas slop with half the characters locked behind microtransactions.

2D fighting games and jrpg's are the 2 generes of games I've been playing almost exclusively since I was little. After SFV I couldn't care less about fighting games anymore. They are all trash.
Dropped SFV in less than a year, played a bit of DBFZ and then that was it for me. They have dumbed it down way too much for an audience that does not exist.

So play 3S, KOF, +R, Xrd, BBCF, MBAACC or UNI2. It's not as convenient as modern matchmaking but you can still find people.
