It shadowdropped for Switch 2 today. It's only 17$.How is it?
>>735165840I am playing it right now and I can safely say that the game is very bad. I looked at some forum threads and reviews and even the most glazing fanboys who made liking this their entire personality are saying that the gameplay is fucking bad.It is absolutely not worth that price but okay to play if you enjoy the worlds look, without shadows and lightning as it is which holds it only strong point, the world design, back noticably..Magic sucksSword fighting sucksFighting just sucks in general.Exploration is okay and you can get quite fast but held back by somehow you getting stuck on tiny steps when you jump out of runs. So you have to stand still>jump>dash forward in midair if you want some fast movement. But there are no platforming segment to make use of it outside of a handful. Stats are bad. They are restricting at first for seeing switches/extra dialogue checks and then don't matter at all because you just max them all anyway. It's surprisingly buggy in many places despite being out so long. The game is bad in ways that makes me appreciate Avowed more. Both first person arpgs with colourful and dreamy mushroom world but the other does way better job at fights, platforming, exploring, gear, stats, dialogue and lore drops droplets around the world.
>>735165840I refuse to pay that much for a 4 hour game
>>735166392weeeew, you fucking destroyed it and you did kill my hype. So, still not the game with Gothic II exploration feeling, where you randomly find op stuff and sneak past or brute force enemies you shouldn't, right?
>>735166609Haha oh god no. You just use your sword even if you picked all 3 caster passives because mana runs out fast and doesn't even do that much damage and you only get a damage spell as your 3rd spell. Also every time you swing your sword you lose a bit of max stamina. At half stamina all your stats are halved so you are encouraged to 1) go full ago and 2) go back to town to sleep a lot. The game actually pretends there is stealth and real "pick your way" in the first tutorial castle but even there it already falls apart. There are 3 big islands and I have almost all gear maxed on the 2nd I just finished.Really I repeat myself again. If you do not incredibly vibe with the visuals of the world you have seen and want to walk around in it for hours then do not get it.>>735166574I got 19 hours and finished 2/3rd of the game doing all treasures and quests.
dread delusion, thinking this game would be goodgoddamnit
>>735165840Dropped on the last act, because the combat is fucking unbearable. Many rpgs are like this, cool world and story wasted on a videogame.
Just beat it, here are my thoughts:-Combat is a total joke, you can easily circle-strafe any enemy in the game and kill it without taking a it. I never put a single point into might and never died in any combat encounter.-Related to the above, stats are totally imbalanced. Charisma and Lore are by far the most essential, Guile is secondary since you can spam lockpicks to open any lock because there's no hard stat check, and Might is completely useless since combat is a total joke.-The game's aesthetic and world design are quite good, but because combat is so tedious this is undermined severely.-The game presents interesting moral dilemmas in the land of the Endless and the Clockwork Kingdom, which are probably the best part of the game.-BUT the writing overall has major problems. Every single area follows the same narrative structure where you meet a society that is totally screwed and trying to solve their problems with an easy answer (either by creating a pact with a god or by creating their own god). Every single time you see that this easy answer really screws the society over in the long run and doesn't solve anything, and that gradual reform sucks but is the only viable way forward. The main plot of the game reuses this exact same formula in asking you whether you want to stop a foid from creating a utopian society to solve the world's problems. BUT in this one case the game throws out its entire thesis and says actually you can create a perfect utopia through magic.-It's moderately woke in the sense that almost every single powerful and important character in the game is female. Your main party consists of you, three women and two gay dudes. The main villain is a woman glazed as being the most talented and charismatic person ever whose only flaw is that she cares about her dead sister too much. Genuinely feels like a parody of right-wing critiques of wokeslop.
>>735166609Stealth is ye olde mechanics of stealth not being a real thing because the second you get aggro on a mob in the dungeon the entire dungeon is on permanent aggro.
I remember seeing this game after the first Haunted PS1 Demo Disc came out and thought it looked good. Too bad the final product turned out to be shit.
if it runs that bad on PC I can't imagine how bad the switch port is and other consoles
>>735168185>Get the Endless queen to go into the crypt to get mogged by her angry spirit who promised to sink the whole island and Endless>nothing actually happens ingame except castle not accessible anymore and spirit stands infront saying "You must flee NOOOOOW I will be sinking this any moment!"It's a bit disappointing to have no real consequences for choices. Similar with the meat farm. I did the whole chain and then crushed the eggs and wizard just said OH WELP and the only thing that happens is some skellies camping outside of town. But it did lower all my friendly-hated stats with every fraction so at least it is something.
Maps too big. Loot not nearly robust enough. King's field combat except the player runs around like doom guy. Shame the first area is tight and gives you high expectations.
>>735165840it's zoomcore
>>735165840Bought it this weekend on steam. It sucks, but it was so cheap that I didn't even bother to ask for a refund.
Damn that's a bummer I really liked what they did with the world design/graphics
>>735165840Buy it and find out
>>735165840only game I've bothered refunding in years IIRCsingular music track for the entire time I played it (<2 hours? just barely under whatever steam refund limit is)dialogue didn't feel like it fit and kicked me out of a headspace willing to enjoy it, around the time of an innkeeper in mushroom village. Where I decided to refund, actuallyI've forgotten what else bothered me, but those two were a big deal for me personally
>>735171303There are like 5 or so songs in the game and to be fair the first one you hear fro 2 hours straight is maybe the weakest and not very good for such long looping.
I hear mixed messages over this one. Is it good if I have shit enough taste to like Lunacid?
pirated a year agoabsolutely awfuljust the worst fucking game ever made
>>735165840i wanted to get into it but i couldn't into the combat because it was so fucking bland. atmosphere and music seemed cool tho. plaeyd it for a few hours and then decided to stop because i wasn't getting that much out of it personally!
>>735172310No.
>>735172310I have no clue why people are this down on it. Yeah the combat's not great but the exploration and storytelling are stellar. If you're willing to put up with Lunacid's jank you should be right at home here.
>>735172310I bought this and Lunacid at the same time. I finished Lunacid, but stopped playing Dread Delusion after a few hours.
>>735173472>but the exploration and storytelling are stellar.Begging you to play more games. Any 3d exploration game really. I promise you there are way better worlds out there.
>>735174152Did this game fuck your sister or something, goddamn.
>>735165840Buy an ad
Mohrta is better.
Tried playing it on PC a few weeks ago and while the setting was interesting the game is just visually ugly, there is no proper lighting at all so everything is super goddamn bright, like the top part of pic related. The sound is all muffled (I assume it's intentional to try and be "retro" which is just stupid), stealth is very poorly implemented and combat feels very floaty and unsatisfying.
>>735165840It has a bit of charm, but it's not a good game.Combat isn't very engaging no matter if you're melee, magic, or stealth (and all three converge eventually). The only one I never really messed with was the Charisma fighting style where you convert enemies, but I imagine that would mostly be a bunch of running around until a conversion succeeds.Past a certain point your stats and skills are mostly there as arbitrary keys for arbitrary locks. Your leveling defines the early game, but starting with mid game the vast majority of stats will come from equipment so you'll just swap out equipment for whatever you need points in. Late game it's equipment + faction resting points which is incredibly annoying to juggle but you'll have to do it if you want to pass a speech check that I'm pretty sure kills you otherwise. There's a few good side quests but most are just 'go here and do this', which means trekking all across the map again which you'll want to cheese with speed boost spells. If they offer a choice it will be a binary choice of whether to help the quirky establishment or the quirky underdogs. And the main quest is incredibly gay. It feels like it's meant for people who unironically read zines/play ttrpg zines
>>735174176nta but buy an ad faggot
>>735165840The story is pretty good, world is nice, combat and gameplay in general is pretty shit. The game is closer to morrowind than something like kings field , even if its a disservice to compare it to either really. BUT that fucking ending. Holy shit. What a way to shit all over the entire fucking game with a simple yes/no choice.
>>735166392>fullbright instead of proper lighting at the very leastInto the trash it goes.
I just finished it. The combat is laughable but the story and dialogue is good. It's not terribly long (I did basically everything and I'm just over 20 hours). I'd say it's worth it on sale.
>>735176684The weird thing is that there is this one single spot in the game here where it shows that the engine and game can do lightning but the dev just never put this feature anywhere else.Places like the crystal mines would have been so much cooler to look at and explore with a darkness and torches.
