as a 35 year old boomer who never played this at the time of release and only got around to it now on my steamdeck expecting some nearly perfect cult classic i'll say:

Well yeah, its a rockstar game.
They set a trend, blow everybody's mind, entire industry copies it, improves some thing, that mind blowing thing is now a standard, what was special once is now dull etc etc.

Rockstar games age like ass. They are always worthy of play around release, but nobody without nostalgia thinks "man gta3 sure is fun to play!"
