It's works fine. Analog wasn't the standard yet.

SNES pad is asymmetric and designed in a way you can't press y+x+a comfortably. There's a reason nintendo dropped this asymmetric trash in favor of total symmetry introduced by sony.

i can't think of any games where that button combo is a thing you'd be doing regularly

It took a lot of work.

It's fine. Nowadays people's thumbs aren't used to D-Pads like these, fucking with the PS Classic versions which aren't as great on build quality it's a bit rough, but for an overall classic game controller pre-analog it's perfectly fine as Sony's answer to Nintendo. About the most you can really complain about is if your thumbs have to hit Start + Select at the same time and you've got fat fingers.

I think it was pretty good. Dual shock was crap though, it was forgivable at first because 3d games were still in their early stages and they basically just slapped two analog sticks to the bottom of the old controller because they realized that analog sticks are better for 3d controls, but then they never innovated on the design and kept the same shit they hastily shat out to introduce analog sticks for all the later consoles.

I've never seen that PS1 controller in person, or the one with the stick grips concaved

Playstation Controller released in December 1994. Nintendo 64 wouldn't release until June 1996 with an analog stick. Sega Saturn would release their own 3D Control Pad a month later. In April months earlier, Sony released this hulking thing as their first real analog response to Nintendo and Sega both to try to remain competitive. It would take them an extra year to 1997, to the month even, to release the Dual Analog Controller proper, the Dualshock coming out later that year in November and some time in the US in 1998.
You thought 3D console gaming instantly came out with analog sticks from the very first minute?

you mean the design that's the basis for all modern controllers except nintendo's whacky sticks? must have been a real idiot
>>

Why make thread this low quality? It feels like half if not more of the catalog is made by some ragebait bots.

It took AmeriGODS entering the scene to show everyone what a real man’s controller looks like

I just couldn't get used to the analog sticks as a kid, so I used this controller. I finally got to use them regularly on the PS2.

Reminds me of the the dualshock 3 which was too light and plasticky feeling.

There is really a perfect weight for a controller.

You ever scratch the area right above your ass but below your tailbone, like where the ass crack is still hidden by flesh, and sniff it? It's a really unique smell, doesn't smell like the rest of your ass at all.
>>
>>735169009
I grew up in this era and I still don't understand why the NES and SNES controllers were made to be so uncomfortable to hold. You can talk about design iterations and learning as you go all you want but this comes down to a designer being unfamiliar with the concept of having fucking hands.
>>
>>735171985
It is all about being cheap to make and comfortable enough, but mostly cheap.
>>

don't forget black
