Double fucked. They're going to rush out an over-hyped early access to get initial sales to meet the exec bonuses, then bail. Remember, Unknown Worlds are not a bunch of starving indies anymore. They had full publisher support paying the bills, wasted all that money and the game is still very bare bones. At the current spend rate, the full release is a long and expensive ways away. There's a good chance that Krafton pulls the plug during early access to avoid bleeding any more money.
Subnautica 1 was a massive fluke and I'm pretty sure that sound guy they fired for being a chud was secretly the fucking genius behind everything going by how shit Below Zero was, the studio literally does not understand the appeal of their own game

I saw that article pop up the other day but I didn't even know there was trouble. What did the guy get the boot for in the first place? I did a little searching but everywhere seemed a it cagey about saying why he was originally fired.
I really want it to be good but I dunno. After Below Zero I'm not optimistic. I still do a new run of Subnautica every year or two. Love that shit. The Cyclops is in my top 3 most favorite fictional vehicles of all time. Bringing it back would be a good start but with a bunch of other things that were going on in BZ I just.. eh. Eeeeh. I want it to be great but it's probably going to fall short even before all this CEO and lawsuit stuff happened.

there's just no way to put into words what a colossal fuck up unknown worlds is. it's not Concord level but it's like they have the original game which was amazing and then they abandoned what their fans wanted them to keep making. sure artists should feel free to create whatever they want, but they can't demand people to like it. so they've just been coasting on their previous success while everyone prays they make something good. the bar was set really low by below zero...
