>>735311608Considering platformers are a surprisingly unpopular genre, it's mostly just the brand imprinting on people when they were young and hardwiring an association with 'video games' They pick up mario and that's a good enough dose of platforming for the next however many years. Problem is, younger generations don't have that attachment and couldn't care less, which is why nintendo is trying so hard to branch out and imprint mario on them.
