Windows updates can already be paused forever, i actually shrank my size down.

The sad part is that the update might break more than it fixes. And 99% of windows users will delay the update for as long as possible because they're been taught updates break everything.

Notepad was for mundane shit like editing .bat files and grocery lists. Why did they chose that of all places to embed AI and store history?

They're only scaling back Copilot stuff because they are putting it behind the premium license.

At this point just keeping a computer functional means you need to be a computer science expert and I hate it. Wangblows can detonate your PC at any time, and despite what you turn off, it WILL turn one drive back on, and your files WILL move to the cloud. Then they'll fail to sync. Wonderful. The solution is Linux which isn't hard but fuck me why not just rerelease Windows 7?

Even if his shit was rolled and they found nothing, I'd be shocked if that didn't happen.
>>
What made them realize they were taking a retarded direction?
>>
>>735377038

Yeah, but is there actually anything illegal when you download any of those? Or is it just viruses? Because that's the vibe I get when I see filenames like those.
>>
>>735377038
I don't know, maybe the daily dozen articles about windows sucking copious amounts of dick, the general reaction to AI agents from normal users and not dumb fucking vibe coders, the ever increasing amount of videos coming out about linux being a viable alternative and Valve pushing for it as well, and some software development companies considering porting shit, I'm fairly sure they're not blind to all of this.
For fucks sake they have a microsoft employee leading one of the most recommended linux distros around these parts. They clearly know what the fuck is up.
>>
>>735377220
It doesn't matter if its illegal or not if you are actively seeking pedo adjacent content like nude famlies or loli. People, your audience realize that you would seek out the real shit if it was legal even if you hadn't already.

Also loli is illegal in Texas and I think a few other states now.
>>
>>735377038
Damn near every update was making essential stuff not work, you'd have to be retarded to not realize it. People also very clearly do not want to use Copilot and they can't hide it anymore with disingenuous numbers
>>

If they can pull this off - and as plagued by jeets as they are, they surely won't - they might be able to salvage Windows 12. Windows 11 is forever a dead meme at this stage.

Prude rightoid christians, but bear in mind that they're no different from leftists politicians who want to ban all porn altogether and have age verification embedded on your computer.
If california hasn't banned porn already is because all porn producers and pedophile rings are there and he'd lose 90% of votes overnight, plus leftists are usually addicted to porn and sex.

Of course they say they're committed to genuine improvement but that doesn't mean they really are. I doubt Microsoft even has enough talent to do so anymore. At best they're dialing back the AI slop a bit because they can see the bubble pop on the horizon.
All that's actually changed is they've pivoted from willful ignorance to the jeet solution to all problems: endlessly lying and trying to save face.

problem lolibros have right now are normalfags using the 2d words to talk about the real thing, and using that to "hide" their files, so even if it says "loli" it might be 3DPD stuff, so be careful out there on the internet with terms you are familiar with, and only visit weeb sites you trust for it, even the guy arrested on the UK last year had the charges dropped and no one talked about it,
Also iirc the Texas law went to far and might be dropped by the supreme court, so far no one has been actively arrested for it, its basically un-enforceable without affecting the entire media industry with "what ifs" and vague bs

also a massive problem with activists and retards reporting it as actual CP when teh FBI already went out of their way to tell them to stop reporting drawings unless its based on a real person

They're not getting rid of copilot because it's unpopular. They're getting rid of it because it's unprofiitable. It being integrated into software you already bought cost them money. They accepted this loss to serve as a compelled demo of the full premium features of copilot, but have apparently discovered that being interrupted by an LLM while making a powerpoint just makes you want to quit your job and burn down the nearest data center.

It's unclear how or if Microsoft or any provider of LLM services will actually turm a profit. The number of users willing to pay a fee which makes their use of the service profitable has turned out to be far less than expected, and will probably continue to decline as more and more people and, more importantly, companies, recognize these services for the toys that they are.

The problem is that for a massive part of the population, they see drawings and immediately think of underage characters, so you could find yourself flying to the UK, getting your phone searched because you look like a nerd, ergo you have illegal shit on your phone, and getting your life ruined because a retarded police officer thinks the onsen scene in yuru camp is child porn, one of the most safe for work manga and anime you could ever find.

10 is the worst windows ever made. It introduced 75% of the negative things 11 has. I never had to troubleshoot this shit as much on different people's PCs with any other Windows version as with 10. Updates were a lottery, it got me used to format and reinstall for fucking anything because it kept being a worthless piece of shit that would break with updates. It's the only version of Windows to introduce by default a way to basically restart your computer to apply updates without your fucking consent (until it had to get an update to make this not the default). People quickly forget how awful this OS was because by the time 7 was still fairly supported.

I'm not using windows currently so maybe it's just bad luck. Whenever I'm on a another computer family, friends, library, why is the search so slow? You press the windows key, you type and it takes way too long to get results. And then the top results are some browser search. If I wanted to google something, I would've opened up my browser and googled it. I'm obviously searching for something locally installed on my device. The fuck is this shit. Atleast make it a winget(the package manager) search. That would atleast actually be useful if the program isn't already installed.

This is why the whole "year of the Linux desktop" is so fucking retarded. Like 0.3% of users switched to Linux due to Microsoft actively fucking with the OS due to their untouchable market dominance, so what? It was obvious that eventually the backlash would make MS reconsider at least partially.

Linuxtards fought tooth and nail to win over 1.5% or so userbase over a decade, and 99% of that gain gets wiped out the moment MS decides "ok lets tone down the fucking up a little bit". Linux is like the loser in highschool that Stacy gave attention to for 5 minutes once when Chad made her angry and she wanted to make him jealous.

I don't care about loli or 2d drawings, but he did have "family nudism" on his list which imo is pretty line-crossing.

If you are unfamiliar, "family nudity" is basically the legal concept that not all nudity in inherently sexual, and therefore pictures of naked children in non-sexual contexts ("family nudity") is not considered child porn.

In practice, it's largely pedophiles with cameras seeing how close to the line they can skirt while maintaining plausible deniability that the albums of naked kids they're publishing isn't actually child porn.

True, for that hacked on top of DOS pile of shit. Meanwhile 2000 was literally just NT5.0 and never had any of those issues meaning that yes, the post you replied to was correct, XP was just a shitty theme and some useless "media" features on top of 2k with a massively bloated memory budget.

There is no good reason to have text like that on your screen. Everyone knows how to use a computer and how to get what you want with it. Pretending to be stupid doesn't work anymore like it did 20 years ago.

Windows 11 fucking blows. I'm forced to use it at work.
Often times searching for notepad or paint will bring back internet searches faster than the actual program.
>>
I installed Ubuntu on my laptop and was surprised to find that it's basically just like a modern Android system. In other words, it's possible that most young people today are more familiar with the Ubuntu interface than with Windows 10 or 11. That's pretty crazy, isn't it?

Note: I installed Steam and tried to run it, but nothing happens when I click the icon, in other words, I've barely started using it and I'm already going to have to start to search the Internet how to fix stuff. This is the big problem with Linux: as long as it simply doesn't work without you having to fix things yourself, it's never really going to be widely adopted.

>A.I. has unironically made Linux 10x as accessible. Pretty much every problem I had (also on CachyOS) was solved by asking Grok, as someone with 0 tech knowledge.
It really is, as long as you're willing to play along (debug a bit and slap the thing into working properly).
I made a bunch of automation scripts just through this shit. I don't think I'd install an agent on my computer but if I have a problem and it's logged, I can shove that shit up claude's ass and I'll get a good answer, and I'm not wasting my time on fucking forums.

If you have an integrated graphics chip, and if Steam works when run "steam" from the command line, then it might be this bug (which Valve should be ashamed for not having fixed):
https://github.com/ValveSoftware/steam-for-linux/issues/9383
I have no integrated graphics in one of my PCs and I disabled it in the other, so it's a non-issue for me.

It's entirely because another department at Microshaft depreciated Wordpad which was meant to be Notepad+ or Word lite with support for fancy stuff like styling in text. Rather than resurrect it as something resembling a Notepad++ competitor with unwanted Copilot slop piled on top, they decided to target the default text program instead since more people would use it and it'd look better in performance reviews.

Windows is still usable if you use Pro (which I have always pirated, or gone through the hoops to buy the perpetual license for family members that I built PCs) as you can turn off and disable all that bullshit this image references. The regular home edition sucks balls and you can't do simple shit like group policy edits and have to do everything with manual regedit hacks. Windows is indeed bloated as fuck though. I would absolutely use Linux for everything if gaming on there wasn't a meme.

Sure, however if they can't use AI to figure out how to use massgrave or Rufus which is essentially a few steps above normie tier they aren't going to be able to use AI to troubleshoot Linux even if the fix is just pasting shit into the terminal after you search the error.

Interesting... I started working from home and decided I couldn't keep using pirated Windows, so I accidentally bought the Pro version, it cost me a lot more than the Home version.
I've always noticed a disconnect between my own issues with Windows and the problems I see other people complaining about. I think I finally understand why my experience seems so different from everyone else's...

Windows is 15% faster than tr**nix in videogames. I love you steam deck, but Linux doesn't belong on a workstation.

7 also has the godawful Windows Update bug which cannot be fixed outside of reinstalling the entire OS, which also seems alarmingly common since I ran into it on multiple laptops despite honestly not dealing with that many Win 7 ones in my life. It breaks both updates and driver support for anything not previously connected to the computer, meaning you can't use a fucking mouse or pen drive if it's "new" to the system, as in not previously successfully connected.
>>
But it's all coded by Jeets and therefore will barely work.

Windows just feels awful to use and you can’t even own the actual system. You can’t turn off the compositor and keep it off easily, and like a million other annoying things. Then you have the fact it’s an ai generated os so it’s just going to have a mess everywhere. Linux is just infinitely more comfortable and functional.

99% of videogames on Linux run Windows software through a translation layer because native linux releases are stuttery messes. It's worse than just running them on Windows, but Linux is so bad that they're better off just using proton.

I've been wondering about the US. There's lot of areas, namely lot of borders, where on one side something is legal and the other side it's perfectly legal. Like prostitution? There must be some villages or towns that straddle a state border somewhere. Is anything wacky happening, where people move from one part of town to do something and then return home to the other afterwards?

>>
>>735384714
>haven't made the switch yet but I'm prepping for it
The best approach is to set up a dual boot system first.
If you're using a desktop instead of a laptop, I think it's a good idea to buy an extra sata SSD just for Linux and set up the dual boot. Then you can start getting used to it and see what works and what doesn't.
I think an NVMe SSD will be much better for the OS, but for normal use, having Linux on a SATA SSD probably won't be a problem.
Just don't install it on a regular HDD. I did that on my desktop, I installed Linux Mint on an HDD, and it's pretty bad.

The vast majority of games run through vanilla Wine with either DXVK or VKD3D installed quite fine, just point wine towards the exec and run the game, managers like Faugus, Lutirs and Bottles are there if you don't like using the terminal or you can't be bothered with manually managing prefixes and want a degree of automation. The only real problem are games that use obscure Windows tricks, obscure codecs nobody remembers nor uses (Steam bypasses this by buying the licence for the codec and re-encoding them into a more widespread one, but that's not piracy so it doesn't concern us), or games that don't work with WoW64 and need true 32bit libraries. Most of those either have a patch or are lightweight enough to be run in a VM, but some will require you to do some real /g/entooman shit, like building your own Wine with win32 libraries enabled, but that's the extreme option, and there's a build script on AUR that does everything for you, just run it and reboot after.
