CB has been doing it's dammest to reach the same height they had back in the 80s, even trying to get it's own spark with Unlock the Magic which came out in 2019, clearly trying to get the same audience FIM had. Surprise, the show didn't get that same spark and ended in 2024, with this crossover seemingly the only thing they got going right now.

Plus, it's clear that Sega is flexing thanks to the movies being the box office bangers that they are, all the money and now eyes on the IP are getting people with equivalent relevancy or lower (that target or have somewhat of a same demographic) to notice them and want to partner up.And while Fortnite is more popular than Sonic, if a crossover were to happen, it will clearly be done for the "meme" potential.
