Can we ever go back?

Physical media is outdated
>>
you mean like how most games have been just codes on cardboard in boxes for the last decade?
>>
Are there any good third party joycons for switch 2 yet? I'm not dealing with the shit drift sticks that Nintendo puts out.
>>
>>735521097
Blame ms, sony and valve.
>>
>>735521097
no because things will keep getting worse and digital media gives corporations full control over your purchases
>>
it's okay when nintendo does it
>>
>>735521097
Are you willing to pay $100+ for high capacity cartridges with fast transfer speeds?
>>
>>735521425
>Joycons
Nope
But your best option is to use them in mouse mode and shit they do better, for everything else just use your pro controller and third party options
>>
>>735521097
Even if it wasn't just a code it would be a physical copy with an activation key that just causes the in-game store to download the rest of the game as a gigantic patch.
>>
>>735521691
Yes. Id rather get that than pay the same $100+ for an empty cartridge.
>>
>>735521097
nobody forced you to buy the orange box all those years ago, but you did.
>>
>>735521097
Why bother when retards (including idiots ITT) will see a "now installing" message and automatically equate that with downloading shit off a server?
>>
>>735521635
Nah, it's okay when everybody but Nintendo does it.
>>
>>735521097
Street Fighter 6 is the worst example of it, despite the fact that the fighters edition is the only version you can get on the switch the fuckers still make you redeem a seperate dlc code for the Year 1 and 2 content.
>>
>>735521097

What happens if hypothetically Nintendo goes bankrupt and their servers go offline? Are the games gone forever and become lost media? With Nintendo gone, who do you sue? What do you do?
>>

What's the thrill of switching cards?

You can go back and play your physical collection any time
>>
>>735529602
Yes. It is objectively superior to other digital purchases because you have the ability to re-sell it if you want. This was always one of the big criticisms of digital purchases and now it's solved.
>>
>>735529802
it was already solved it was called having a proper on cart phyiscal the thing they have been doing in videogames since the 1980s
>>
>>735529319
there is a rumor that EU will force Steam to resell your games, but it will probably take 5 more years

Brings up Sony out of nowhere while they have arguably better physical editions.

Wtf damn when you put it like that its actually pretty based??
>>

it just means your backlog will thin out to the few physical games they release

its a gift
>>

You don't get it, zoomers and alphas NEED to hate something, whatever just to be contrarians like good 'ol 4chan was and their newer ecelebs are.
>>
>>735521097
I remember stopping at k mart back in 2008 for bandaids and stopped in the game section and saw all their PC games were gone and I started talking and was like "I bet in 10 years everything will be digital like iTunes and Xbox live and we will have rewritable media cards ro save everything on.
>>
>>735521097
Its better this way

and? we've already known that sony and xbox fags are retarded bootlickers what's your point?

yes we've already known that pcfags are retarded bootlickers what's your point?

we want to own our games
>/v/ endlessly melts down over it
because we want to own our games

>What happens if hypothetically Nintendo goes bankrupt
Why do you insist on burdening yourself with such existential crises? They have been making the same games for 40 years and even sold cardboard to people. If they were going to go bankrupt it would have happened already.
>>
IDK man, digital games are just gonna become the standard going forward. I actually love physical media in theory, but I find having to switch discs/carts to be kinda annoying sometimes.
I usually only buy phyiscal games if it's a series I really care about. I think the nostalgia of going to EB games is fun.
The EB Games I grew up with straight up closed during covid. The closest brick and mortor store that isn't a best buy or walmart is super far. I'm sure I'm not the only person with that issue. If you're rural, or even "rural suburban" there isn't really many options tto buy psychical games anyway.
>>
>>735521097
No, but the keycards are a terrible idea either way.
Its the inconvenient swapping of physical, with the non-ownership of digital.
Ultimately, though, outside of keeping the roms yourself and emulating consoles are basically time-bombs anyway. My PS2 slim is dead, as are my PS3, 360, and probably a number of others I haven't tried booting in forever.
My PSP's battery started swelling a few years ago, so it doesn't have one anymore. And the UMDs were practically designed to break with their stupid setup.

Of course, on the other end, PC materials are in a big squeeze for who knows how long. And I really needed to upgrade mine years ago but never had the loose funds for it.
>>
>>735521097
Nintendo will never go all digital because they know children, their target audience, don't always have consistent, freely available internet.

One of many cases of people just looking for an excuse to get mad.
>>
Yes, we can go back. It’s easy. Buy retro consoles and retro games.
>>
>>735521097
the only way to reclaim your rights is to dump the games with all updates and dlc, as god dictates
>>
>>735529319
why doesn't your "resellable digital game" work on my banned switch 2? if it really were a game it would work
>>
>>735529319
I bought a Switch because it was the last place to buy full games inside a plastic.
I have no reason to buy Switch 2 if it doesn't cover the requisite.
Shit feels so greedy that unless it comes from a dude making the whole game in his room I'm moving my maximum price for digital from 10$ to 5$.
>>
>>735521097
Because flash storage is expensive. You're not going to see this with discs because discs are cheap
>>
>>735525134
This is why stop killing games is important
But realistically we will crack their games before that happens, physical or not.
