Kojima enjoyed the feeling of seeing how many grocery bags he could carry with as few trips as possible and decided to make an entire AAA game out of it

Unfortunately, he has two very good guns, which are tranquilizer pistol and sniper rifle. The rifle has a shortcoming because it has no suppressor, but the gun has one, which is great. The fourth unlock is the same rifle, but LW (lightweight), which can be easily carried. Anyway, he really is badly located, that's why people avoid him, and the BTs don't help either.

He's one of my faves to deliver to because no one else will. I make the arc sweeping around towards his place and pick up every one I can find. I don't like to drive through the BT area so I always wnd up wheezing my way through with a tower pack, fully loaded cargo carrier, and carrying shit in both hands. He must shit his pants with excitement every time he sees that tower of boxes wagging around in the air from the other side of the ridge.

>>
>>735528793
I don't mind it because he's hot in a Tim Pool (non-balding) way.

Supposedly, he's one of the Developers for Stray (the cat video game) and Kojima somehow roped him into doing facial scans despite him being a private person.

I built the road up to him nearly, not the last little bit but you can get off the road and hit him from the back (*pause*) and it's so much easier than going up from the "the Government" even if it's a bit longer.

I finally got a road nearly up to the Musician as well from where you continue after the second knot (near the animal farm) but I'm starting to run into resource exhaustion from doing the road AND monorail since it seems nobody else that I'm linked to is doing the work on building these up.

Is he supposed to represent gamers who just want to kill and blow shit up? He likes using video game terminology and even makes fun of Sam's "hippie-dippie network". Not unlike gamers who make fun of Death Stranding for being a walking sim. Are we the bad guys?

Today I spent a couple hours delivering online cargo in Mexico. I wanna five-star all the Mexico shelters first before going back to Australia, and I also happen to find Mexico to be extremely comfy. Not as comfy as the Eastern Region but still good enough. This game is so fucking comfy bro

>>735535315

>>
>>735535080
The other thing is that the Inventor being in the middle of the lake AND not being able to jump off the zipline (if it's the monorail version) is such a troll move by Kojima. You either wade through with tar up to your dick or you ride a vehicle and hope timefall doesn't kill it, your cargo, and speed as you scan fast (with the reloaded scan skill) to drive through the yellow.

Then you start to rank him up and he becomes: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bL2gc1Xe9GI

I had to laugh.
>>
>>735535395
But you can jump off the monorail onto his island.
>>
>>735535315
Five Starring like the southern three knots is nearly impossible unless you spend hours doing lost cargos and praying someone entrusts things before you unlock Standard Orders.

I had to go to unlock the Standard Orders to finish those up, personally.

It's funny: You can four star all the preppers easily with nothing but Lost Cargo and some Standard Orders (maybe) but then you run into brick walls getting the fifth star on some of these assholes.

Some are an extra 1000 likes, others are like 3000.
>>
To the WILDER
>>
>>735535442
Yeah, if you have that built already. I only got part of it built since I need to finish the bit that goes to the "second" knots' finishing point (IIRC) but I did built the rail over him so I was like "ok, let's see if I can zipline like DS1's zipline" and NOPE. you can only jump off at certain "link" points. Which is like "what is the point? I'm already nearly at the stopping point.

I like to think him making video game references is just a nod to how Troy Baker has an extensive career in videogame voice acting. He did it in the first game too. Constantly saying shit like “game over” and “no restarts”
>>

>>735535656

>>
>>735532273
Take a bath.
>>
>>735532607
If you don't know you get level 2's from those preppers, you'll run into the boss with level 1's and that can be a smidge annoying to deal with.

It's doable (just fire with grenades clouds active) but it's a "wall" because the game doesn't have you fight in tar before that point (the only "combat" scenario before that point is the MULES [whatever they call them now] and that's only if you go in guns blazing) and even THOSE aren't in tar.

So you're having to adjust to fighting in tar, learning the "dodge while holding a weapon" system and firing on a bullet sponge all in one battle for a tutorial/opening hours area.
>>
>>735532658
>MGSV thematically so successful its players develop genuine life long phantom pain
>i'm afraid it's been 11 years
>>
>>735531584
Long range sniping, you can hit someone, scoot and have the guards come toward where you last fired.

It's not the most amazing thing that the game tries to hype you for, but it does have some use if you're wanting to draw attention away from the base to grab something like the "tar drugs" one of the side missions wants you to do without knocking everyone out in the process.
>>
>>735530096
It's funny they gave it a reason so you don't have Fragile jumping everywhere and Kojima even gave THAT a lore reason for how much players abused her to fast travel.

Hell yeah. As many anons have said, this game is a huge QoL improvement over the original.
Kinda. It’s alright. Feels like a huge circle with a bunch of random obstacles thrown here and there. The Central and Easter Regions in the first game felt more consistent.
Kojima tries too hard. I thought the first game’s tone was better.
The music is noticeably different but still very good.
Very rewarding. I find myself clearing bandit camps just for fun sometimes.
Less so than the first game but still very soulful.

I'm kind of doing the same, but after four-staring the region, or the initial region, I decided to make the roads just accelerate the five star. After getting the floating carrier I'll slow things down a bit. Being able to carry more by myself is going to be great. I'll try to put more structures around, too. Right now I only used three or four generators, that's it. No bridges whatsoever.
>>
>>735544209
Kojima should put you in the next game as a porter prepper stuck on a silo, the delivery addict, a porter denied his packages
>>
>>735544258
Isn't it nice how the game allows for people's playstyles and personalities to shine through? I always make extremely tough long distance deliveries to rebuild roads as soon as possible so I can hop by and drop materials as well as do rapid delivery, some people don't use roads at all, etc. it's great.

IF you ever wanted to work for the enclave in Fallout, that's what DS1 is about, you walk around with cargo to deliver internet 5.0 dongles that route 3d printers through the after life for 0 latency on orders from mask wearing sociopaths who harvested fetuses from braindead women to use as routers (they're the good guys, their logo is a spider web over the continental USA but they have a president girlboss

You are strongly encouraged to subdue them non lethally.
>>
>>735548119
>You are strongly encouraged to subdue them non lethally.
Or just avoid them. Having said that, by subduing them anon also means shooting them and knocking them out with non-lethal ammo, which is basically killing them with extra steps, for a time since they will respawn eventually.

>>735548069
it's apocalyptic, so much so that the USA has shrunk like 80 times and now resembles iceland with some canyons, mountains and craters, everyone except assbandits who steal fedex packages lives in bunker and communicate via hologram doorbell.
You can only beat them up because if you kill them you have to drive them to a crematorium ASAP.
The story in 2 is genuinely retarded and feels like a parody of itself, also instead of focusing on traversing trechearous terrain there's more focus on mowing down niggas with NON LETHAL heavy machineguns and NON LETHAL KO rocket launchers but also 3d printed robots from afterlife that can be blown up with LETHAL rocket launchers, guilt-free.

Yeah it honestly ruined it.
The mules in 1 were fine, a little bit of combat, but the focus was on cargo carrying, and the enemies were trying to steal your shit, not kill you.
2 was so ridiculously easy and had no challenge other than combat, it gives you vehicles 20 minutes in and immediately ruins itself as a result.

I think the world on-the-air seems so embarrassing because we talk too much and run out of things to say, the value of words has crashed and won't climb since talk keeps on being wantonly emitted.
Our heightened state of hyper communication is physically inhuman, we're clearly going nuts and it could be simply dialed down. Is each individual supposed to control his own intake of data or is some overarching body supposed to control it for our sake? Don't know.
Death Stranding 2 displays personal responsibility as the best solution but disciple is instilled by authority so does it make a good point?
>>
>>735552750
Discipline comes from authority of those that before you had personal responsibility born of discipline imparted from them by those with authority. Listen to your parents and try to be the best you can seems to be the intended message. I agree with it personally. Control that which you can and all.

Look at Sam, his mom lied to him his entire life, he was a half dead corpse baby with scheming bastards all around him that wanted to use him. He didn't have good parents. His dad got merked by feds and he was used as a tool, and yet he became a wonderful dad. Why? Because your parents aren't just your mom and dad, they're everyone you learn from. You can actually avoid all the BTs by going west on that hill. There's a path that makes you encounter BTs only at the top of the mountain, the whole path cleared until you get there, and they stay mostly confined to your right.

Not only that but as soon as you link up a region you immediately see level 3 structures with a billion likes all around. I tried the limited option for what appears online, but it removes absolutely all online structures and signs, and also removes online participation from monorail tracks building but I think that one may be a bug because road participation is still a thing on this mode. It's either get everything or nothing, it fucking sucks

>Are you enjoying the new game systems, items and structures?
Yes, but there is too much manditory action/combat for me. Not what I tend to enjoy in my strand type games.
>Do you like the map?
Double yes, object improvement in every way and most maps going forward (knock off games) should take notes in doing what is basically a small donut like structure.
>A short thought about the cutscenes?
What they did to bring back Norman Reedus with a funky fetus was poor story telling. Made it to 'The Doser' prepper and I'd say it has non-existant pacing for specifically Sam's interests (being Lou). All the new characters I do like. Fragile is hit/miss and Higgs is a double kino.
>What about the music?
Classy, I find myself jamming to it more than Low Roar.
>How does it feel to clear a bandit camp?
Not so good. Stealth really isn't fully there and it feels like a discount MGS V in my opinion. They really wanted you to run in and mag dump fuckers into the dirt.
>Would you consider the game to have soul?
Getting Ground Zero vibes take that as you will.

The Bokka's dumb ass, easily. Strongman at F1 is my second favorite.

Yeah, it’s bullshit. The worst part is that is also the case for the first game as well. You can disable shared structures in the settings but the game will still build the roads for you. You’d have to disable logging in altogether in order to stop the game from building the roads

>Are you enjoying the new game systems, items and structures?
Yes, DS2 in many ways feels like KJP doing what they couldn't do for DS1 due to budget/tech. It's a very iterative sequel, which is rare for Kojima
>Do you like the map?
One of my favorite open world maps ever, not even joking. It's very memorable with so many beautiful locations. Only complaint is what many are saying, it's too flat.
>A short thought about the cutscenes?
They're well directed and nice to look at, Kojima dialogue is Kojima dialogue, but he seems to have listened somewhat to the complaint that DS1 droned on too much, which is appreciated. It's snappier paced and you're playing the game much faster
>What about the music?
Nothing quite hits the high of Low Roar or Asylum for the Feeling. But still lots of great tracks. The original score is great, very good ambient music. Play with headphones if you can.
>How does it feel to clear a bandit camp?
Alright, combat and stealth is definitely improved from DS1, but it absolutely still isn't the draw. It feels kind of like a ghetto MGSV, I miss going prone, can't wait for Physint.
>Would you consider the game to have soul?
It's soul overload. It arguably has too much soul. If you hate Kojima soul this certainly won't change your mind
>Who is favorite prepper?
Pekora

Honestly if you love DS1 then you'll most likely love DS2, because its more Death Stranding. I've heard some people say they find the story disappointing, but I wasn't big on the story in DS1 anyway, I just like the premise and world and DS2 is more of that.

My pc isn't exactly a toaster but it's the same one I played DS1 with and it runs great, some slight stuttering here and there but nothing major. But it's the first game I have to use upscaling of any kind to get a good framerate, I have everything on ultra except for gay tracing options which are disabled. Solid 60-80 fps on 1440p, DLSS quality option. i9 9900ks and 3090, 64gb ram probably ddr4 I don't remember. You'll have to crank down some settings if you're playing on a proper toaster but I think it'll run, the game is pretty well optimized like the first
tl;dr if your pc can run DS1 then it most likely can run DS2

yes, I really enjoy the new systems. roads are still the GOAT though

I like the maps and I love the new weather events and day & night cycles

the cut scenes are incredibly short in comparison to the first one. the beginning of the game was ABSOLUT KINO, but everything after that was not that impactful desu. I liked the dollman dance lol

giving us FUCKING FINALLY a music player is a game changer, I LOVE the score. loved to hear low roar in it too

bandit camps are much bigger and more complex. you need to acutally use the watchtowers and be cautious. still a lot of fun

the game is really soulful. but I gotta admit, I didn't want a second game. it diminishes the ending and the struggle of the first one, which I adored. I really hate the retconning about the death stranding & timefall still happening...

Since you asked, I will just repost my reply from yesterday.
"
I was gone buy this for PS5 and would have borrowed my m8s console.
Then I saw the flat map and MGS focus with stupid boss fights and constant combat.
Now, after playing the "free" version for a couple hours and doing the first few deliveries until the first Boss.
Every delivery had an enemy camp in the way, 3 human, 1 bt and then a boss.
The first item unlock I get is an LMG, replacing the 2 ARs that I started the game with.
Meanwhile the environment sucked and I could pretty much just walk in straight lines from one place to the next.
This isn't the death stranding I enjoyed, this really does feel like MGS5.5

Its the stuff I played DS in spite of got worse, the things I liked are gone and the wonky shit hasn't changed.
Guess I am glad that the MGS people got a game they enjoyed.
Thanks Kojima...

do we know much at all about the previous death strandings mechanism of action? the games talk about how extinction events and entities come about to dethrone the current dominant species, maintaining a cycle of evolution and change. do you guys think the previous death strandings had BT issues (corpses going necro, thus making BT in the shape of that entity that then seek other members of said species) with solely the dominant species at the time?

i ask because i shot a kangaroo in the face and then wondered why animals dont go necro. the simple answer could probably be ha and ka yada yada, animals aint got a soul, but i wonder if BTs in the form we see them in game are exclusive to the stranding we as sam are living through

Agreed. I thought the first game had such a wonderful ending. Amelie fucking off and making the timefall (and presumably everything else related to the Death Stranding, including chiral internet fuckery) go away sounded like a fresh restart for humanity. A perfectly bittersweet ending, and the last few frames before it cuts to black, you hear Sam sigh, and you listen to one of the most kino credits themes ever made me cry like a bitch.
DS2, as good as it is, feels like it just steps all over that and prolongs the story. I guess it’s worth it because the sequel is really fucking good but, man, DS1 on its own is such a wonderful game

Interesting question. Now that you mention, animals seem to die a lot yet you never see any animal BTs. Right in the opening of the first game you see all those birds and that buck die and yet it’s never addressed whether or not BTs came out of them. I guess you could either consider it a plot hole or go with the “dethrone the current dominant species” thing since it’s consistent to the canon and the nature of the death strandings and the kas and has or whatever.
Also, stop shooting ‘roos

Agreed. DS1 didn't have elevation, if I remember right. 2's is a 3D map. The "pixels" suck, but it's manageable to eyeball your distances and the route system at least gives an idea of any sudden drops/climbs that prevent you from easily going somewhere in a direct line.

Nearly done 5-starring all the porters in the "second knot" of the second map, but god I hate how insane the 5-stars get after how fast 4 stars is able to be gotten. I don't know if the PC ports "standard order refreshes in 6 hours" is broken, but I have WAY MORE than 6 hours in-gameplay time since I've gotten it and have yet to actually get refreshed standards to finish the last 3-4 preppers up.

For me it's just the pixel aspect of it, I really don't like it, other than that it's a fine map

What is with Kojima and this book? It's been like 15 years since development of MGSV started and he's still fixating on it.

>What is with Kojima and this book?

It's a very "visually striking" book, invokes powerful imagery in your head. It's an american classic for a reason, very epic and beautifully written. It makes sense why Kojima loves it since he's a very "big feels" guy it also carries his flair for autistically in-depth descriptions where you're probably gonna really bore a large chunk of the audience

>spoiler
I enjoy both Kojima and Melville, so this checks out.
>>
>built all the monorail
>started building streets where the network is not connected yet

someone stop me
>>
>>735584130
>that spoiler
I expect Kojimbo to learn of "The Lord of the Rings" and "The Hobbit" and "The Silmarillion" soon.

Though reading his essay book, he's big into Columbo (or was as a kid/1970s), so who knows with all his lore shit.
>>
>get to motherhood and need to solve the passcode
>was skipping every charlie convo because the dude talks way too much for shit that can be shortened into 2 sentences
>no data entry for it too
kojimbo still being pretentious huh
>>
Final fight against Neil ruined the game for me. Dragged on for too long. 2/5

I DONT GIVE A SHIT ABOUT PUZZLES IN MY ACTION GAMES
I also lost 3 animals in the process. now I have to go back to find the quokka again fucking hell
>>
please tell me eventually I unlock the thingy that lets me have destinations always visible on the hud without opening the compass every 30 seconds, its getting on my nerves, I know it was a collab item in DS1 with cyberpunk but i can't be arsed to keep bringing up the compass so that the waypoint remains visible REEEE
>>
>>735588330
its in the facilities tab of the corpus
>>
>>735528669
You better not piss tar on my sheets you little shit.
>>
>>735588875
>waypoints
Huh? AFAIK they do stay visible.

If you're talking the preppers and other shit: Sadly (unless it's unlocked late game), no. But it's not that big a deal. You eventually start to memorize the route you're taking.
>>
>vtuber shelter
I have never cringed so fucking hard in my life, how can people willingly engage with this shit. I can handle everything kojimbo games throw at me, but not this
>>
>>735588882
yea I already found it. was it supposed to be my birthday or something? cause it's off lmao.

>>735588875
yea this shit too. the game literally spams you with the most useless notifications and info but the most important shit it just refuses to show on screen. so close to perfection but alas.

>>735589056
I unironically prefer this to the earbleeding forced English of that Japanese actress or whatever from the last game. Holy fuck that was actually awful.
>>
>>735548801
>those roads you have to build near The Commander.
Fucking hell! I could build the whole network over again with that amount of materials.
>>
>>735550572
A fun thing you can do. Go out in a field somewhere with a coffin. Then fall asleep next to it.
>>
>>735589149 its the date you put in at the beginning of the game anon
>>
>>735589165
Yeah, it was pretty bad. The mines don't really give enough so you're having to trek between them with the truck and the truck is so slow.
>>
>>735589292
I don't even fucking remember. I'm just here to deliver shit. I'm basically ignoring most of the Kojimbo bullshit because I remember it being the least fun part about the last game.
>>
Holy fuck those ghost blade enemies fucked my shit up on TWW.
>>
>>735589420
>ignore story
>bitch when you're lost
you reap what you sow i guess man, keep on keeping on
>>
>>735589718
same, i died three times in a row lmao
>>
DS1 did not force you talk to lilith so much
>>
>>735589816
lilith?
>>
>>735589729
look man I'm still somewhat following the story and watching the cutscenes that matter but what I'm not going to do is listen to charlie yap for 5 minutes over shit that can be explained in 2 sentences. Also the same "you did it Sam! now go get a rest and go do another mission when you wake up" convo for another 5 minutes. literal filler shit like when you immediately know when a sponsor segment is coming up on a youtube video.
>>
>>735588979
no I mean in DS1 you unlock a thing that lets you look at your destination, press a key and you consume a little battery to keep the destination visible at all times, in DS2 it keeps disappearing unless you bring up the compass and it annoys me
>>
>>735590106
i'm all for taking the game at whatever pace suits you but at least skim the text before you skip it so you're not missing out on stuff. you can find the birthday you set if you open the sss from the ring menu, go to bridge links tab, and click on your profile, and then go to activity records and press shift
>>
>>735589718
>>735589786
>get hit once
>almost dead
>panic
>not even enough time for blood transfer to initiate
>dead
Terrifying desu. I found grenade launcher on weapons to be very effective. Trying to fight them with an electric rod wasn't the brightest idea
>>
y'all do the headless rider fight on TTW yet?
>>
>>735590327
Put a waypoint on it?
>>
>>735590843
they still disappear unless you bring up the compass every few seconds
>>
>>735590424
Does missing out on the passcode for some one time puzzle really count as missing out? Just do it while I'm delivering or organizing shit instead of holding the gameplay hostage just to force MMO tier budget exposition goddamn.
