Worst part of Act 3 was definitely how the new Sword of Light made for our protagonist is just thrown out in favor of the old one storywise. Like you can get it again but it’s just some craftable super weapon which is cool I guess but it was much nicer in act 2.

Ignoring Act 3, DQXI had my 2nd favorite Dragon Quest story behind V. Act 3 throws a lot away which makes it drop down a good bit. It’s still better than most of the other game’s stories since really, only V and VIII had “great” plots excluding XI. Like 1-3’s plots were more akin to a DnD campaign which was fine.

XI is the worst game using Dragon Quest in the name and it's not even close. The entire thing is unsalvageable. Everything that happens in the story is negative. You are continually forced to help criminal scum. Forced homosexual harassment from party members. Same shit music it has been reusing forever. Visible encounters and constant healing. Equipment has no variety. Crafting is gimped to ensure you never make anything worthwhile. It looked nice but they fucked up a newer version porting worse graphics, possibly the only company ever to fuck this up. Character progression is a choice between weapon types if at all.Play X or Monsters Joker 3 Pro or Builders 2. XI is so fucking bad.
