I should really update my wishlist, I wait for a sale for months and then have no games I feel like buying during the sale.
>>
>>735568656
So far I only got Deus Ex Human Revolution. I'm slightly annoyed it's the console focused Director's Cut, but I still want to (re)play this.
Also thinking on getting Peach Beach Splash because out of all the Senran games it looks the most fun.

Probably gonna pull the trigger on this cart soon. Also thinking about Captain Wayne - Vacation Desperation, Metal Garden, Vital Shell and Scorn. I ended up dropping Cavalry Girls since it seems like the gameplay might get dull pretty fast.
>>
>>735569185
Once I add stuff to my wishlist I only remove them if they come out and turn out to be mid, or if I pirated them. How do you end up with a wishlist of things you dislike?
>>
>>735569896
Don't really dislike my wishlist but it just becomes harder to justify spending money on them most of the time, if I wasn't so anxious about spending money I'd probably clear half of it.
Currently how I buy games is if I feel like playing them soon and don't think they're going to be sitting in the library till I feel like playing it again.

This thread's selections:
>The Room series, a collection of puzzle/escape room games. Still playing through these myself but they're all consistently good so far.
https://store.steampowered.com/bundle/20773/The_Room_Collection/
>Wacky crime rail shooter. Short but that's standard for the genre. Playable with M&K.

>Sci-fi soulslike. Very cheap, can feel a little undercooked at times but overall good. Get the DLC if you like.

>Stealth horror game by Rockstar. Violent kills and a John Carpenter style soundtrack. Use the ManhuntFixer patch.

>Cinematic adventure game from the creator of Heavy Rain. His funniest work, full leans into B-movie insanity halfway through.

Morrowind after modding it with stuff like Tamriel Rebuilt. I currently have 500 hours and am planning on making a new character soon.

You can just pirate both, I tried krita but couldn't get used to it, clip studio "felt better" at least for me.

It's just for supporting development really, I've used the free version for so long making AI porn that I don't mind putting a few dollars in the tip jar so to speak. Also, stupid as it may sound, but I hope having an hour counter will help motivate me to get some drawing practice done.

Are there other RTS games similar to Stronghold (Crusader)? Something with focus on building efficient economies and supply chains as part of the game? I don't really enjoy PVP based RTS games like Starcraft or Company of Heroes.
>>
>>735571810
There's some plugins that let you hook it into ComfyUI (or a similar AI generation interface) and generate images etc. right in Krita. I'm using this one personally: https://github.com/Acly/krita-ai-diffusion . It's extremely convenient for making quick edits, fixing mistakes, inpainting etc. I think a lot of other drawing/image editing programs have similar plugins now, I know photoshop does at least.

Unfortunately the other anon is right, sadly there are many VNs that either don't release on steam or you just have to patch them (search the patch somewhere).
Even worse, if you like to use them to practice japanese most of them don't even have japanese included so you either pirate them or just buy it on other stores (I hate them for this).
Have you read anything by key before? You can always try their shorter vns like harmonia or Planetarian.
Either way Rewrite is very fun

Lots of complaints abound for 3 REmake, and some are valid, but if you like short games it's great. At $5 or whatever it's a steal. I would play on Hardcore first if the game lets you (can't remember if you have to clear normal first). Great game to blitz through in one sitting.

>>735575616
The gunplay is undeniably much better in the Legendary edition of 1. It's worth it for that alone.

I respect your opinion but youre wrong. might be okay if you played the OG to death and want to try it different but if you never played it, start with OG

I have played the OG to death. An "HD" release of all the games in one package was on my very short "hope they make this some day" list. It looks better and it feels better when playing it. What didn't you like about it?

>>
>>735577046
Valkyria Chronicles 1 is a true "mixed" rating, imo. It can be fun as fuck, but it can also be extremely frustrating. The permadeath isn't nearly as big as a factor as it is in something like Fire Emblem, though. When your units' HP hits 0 they fall unconscious for 3 turns, and only if you fail to reach them in that time (or an enemy reaches them first) then that's when they die forever. Enemies don't deliberately target your units to perma-kill them, either - it pretty much only happens if they were on a patrol route or something that an enemy happened to be moving on.
Most of the rage comes from interception fire, RNG in general and the various non-standard objectives.
I haven't played 4 but I've heard it's pretty much the same gameplay.

Most VN's I've played are just the popular ones which you've surely heard of, but for less popular ones which I really liked there's Scar of the Doll (I played the old version) or Aselia the Eternal.

Scar of the Doll is a short Adventure VN which is good for 1 or 2 sessions. The art style is nice and different from most VN's I've read too.

Aselia the Eternal is a long old school isekai VN with turn-based strategy combat. It's a personal favourite of mine with my favourite ending out of any VN. The combat can be tough so remember to save after every turn. This one has different routes which are mostly determined by who the MC fights with in combat. There's new game + for other routes/extras which you can play on optional higher difficulty levels.

Mate, you gotta realize that the vast majority of modern DRPGs are jap, particularly the console ones, which are the ones that'll control well on the deck.
That said, some Experience Inc. games like Undernauts or Strangers in Sword City have a more western look, although I find them quite shallow mechanically and in terms of level design.
Look into Vaporum if you don't mind single character and real time combat.
The Amberland series are ok-ish might & magic-likes.
And I know that Dragon Ruins 2 plays well on the deck, but it's an autobattler...

Frankly, if you're dead set against weeb stuff you should just emulate, either old western stuff like Wizardry, M&M, Beholder, Lands of Lore, or some of the less cringe console stuff, like the Dark Spire or Strange Journey...

I say this as someone who bought the Dead Space remake on launch, beat it and liked it: you don't need it compared to the original game. Its not like RE4R where I think it sufficiently differentiates itself in how it plays from the original game to stand next to it, it really is just DS1 again with some small additions that don't add much to the game at all.

Depends on the part of the game you're in. Some sections force you to do combat and other sections force you to do stealth. Generally though when you're just traversing around the map you can handle it either way.

Most of the major technical issues have been fixed. I think the game looks and sounds pretty good now even if I understand why some dislike the more vibrant art direction compared to 1 and 2.
All that has done though is highlight the actual design flaws of the game, mainly in the faction design. USF and DAK just don't work the way Relic wants them to.

If anyone wants an okay 3D platformer experience, try out Valkyrie Saga, it's got a free demo. The environment is nice enough, although the way some of the Constructs (this angelic race of beings) were written was incongruous with the rest of the story's tone. The gliding and diving felt fun, and this game really made me feel just how fucking vertical it was. That last tower is no joke. Beat the game in just a few minutes over five hours. Some other titles I've recently added to my library that'd I'd recommend...

RUBATO
Nautical Survival
Bombun
Gunlocked
Dome Keeper
Annalynn
Murtop
Silver Bullet
Dwarf Legacy (Demo)

On my wishlist...

Caves of Qud
Mohrta
Pluto

It's five stages with an identical layout and the only difference being more enemies sooner in each stage. I got fifteen hours and am 61/66, all S ranks. It's a fun game for a little while, but sooner or later you'll figure it out and it becomes routine, it's not roguelike or roguelite just because the sheer variety just isn't there. I say this as a guy who got an S rank in every stage and am 61/66 in achievements.

First game, sure. I didn't care for the second, there's more technobabble than regular dialogue and the reveals fall flat without any real build-up the way the first game earned.

Both. Story mode and horde modes can be played currently in local coop up to 4, and the multiplayer is also playable up to 4. Ys ist relatively hard but it has difficulty options. Personally I loved it on nightmare difficulty, and I'm not that good at vidya.
Only thing to be aware of is the XP system in Falcom games. Each level gives you a lot of power, but it also halves how much XP monsters give, so it's not possible to overlevel unless you spend hours on it. But it also means the inverse, if you can quickly gain a level, it's probably worth it. I've had situations where I went back to grind for 3 minutes and the level up made my damage go from 3 to 40

Oath In Felghana is probably the hardest Ys game on Normal, ignoring the jank and buttfucking Dark Fact in the first two games. But you usually just need to save at every save rock and quickly grind up an extra level or two to make bosses reasonable. It also has difficulty settings from Piss Babby to Coked Up Literal Korean, because it was made back before Miyazaki and his faggoty horde of sweaty retarded Enshittifying sycophants ruined video games with the idea that good design and playability features in a full fucking price game were actually bad.

Decent but has the issue where if you're pushing the story events you're going to run out of money, and if you put time into the basic loop of fishing, getting upgrades, getting harder fish it's easy to rocket past the intended difficulty of the story events. End result was that I got bored after a few hours because I enjoyed the fishing and inventory management but didn't enjoy the eldritch nonsense or the writing.

You might like Satisfactory. You can turn off combat and the game becomes a very self-paced cycle of building factory pieces, making equipment to explore for other resource nodes and crash sites with alternate blueprints, and building more factories. It rewards optimization but rarely requires it beyond napkin math, so whatever level of focus you can muster will be fine.

I still can't decide.
RPG is one of my favorite genres, and regardless of that I've never played an RPG with great combat. The combat is always secondary, progression is always my interest in the genre. Ironically, I think great combat can get in the way of an RPG. Why progress your character when just "playing better" gets the job done? I don't care if the combat is boring and uninteresting, it's what I've leveled up and looted that makes it do more damage or my character have more defense that makes it interesting.
But the way the combat is described in this game makes it seem like it's so tedious that it will get in the way. I worry about that, that it will ruin the rest of the experience or I'll get frustrated and just alt+F4 and uninstall.

I know someone on /v/ was looking forward to this game

It's a very good sokoban but it's just that. You push a bunch of boxes to get to a new screen with more boxes. Turned my brain to mush after a bit, same as Baba Is You. Well-made, though.

I AM that anon and just played my first round. It has the same problems every rogue FPS has where all the upgrades are just boring % increases since you can't change the gameplay of an FPS through roguelike means.

To be fair I've also played Gunfire Reborn and it's basically the same game just with a western sci-fi aesthetic instead of a Chinese furry aesthetic
>>
>>735649428
Gunfire is decent at changing gameplay through character abilities and various tweaks to those, but the guns themselves are often statsticks where you tunnel vision on the one or two that work for your character and ignore the rest.
>>
>>735649428
That's just the metaprogression grind for chapter one, the builds get more complex every chapter (items in 2, recipes in 3, weapon upgrades in 4) and you also have unlocks when clearing missions.

Not even deep discounts? Anon...

Everything looks boring. Only thing I've even considered getting is Slay the Spire 2. Unless someone has some Steam Deck recommendations.

>>

I already owned tabs on epic myself.
>>
>>735649739
I wasn't talking about metaprogression, I meant the perks you pick up during runs. And yeah I guess you can strategize your pickups based on your run but what are you really doing each time? Just shooting enemies in the head and avoiding damage. The good roguelikes change the way you play as you progress, but every FPS one I've played just gives you more damage to counter the increasing HP of enemies
>>
>>735650385
Despite owning games on Epic all I use it for is Fortnite and GTA modding. I only really got TABS after seeing all of the 1,000 hour reviews and remembering it being funny on YouTube a few years ago

STS2 has been great so far. Others I play often on the Steam Deck:
>Isaac
>Balatro
>Turok 1 and 2
>Darkest Dungeon
>He is Coming
>KOTOR 2
>New Vegas
>Lots of Resident Evil games (REmake,2 REmake, 4)
>Any Dragon Quest game
(I don't know if any of these are on sale. You probably already own some of them.)
>>
Is Caves of Qud good?
>>
>>735651857
Yes, but it's one of those games that's either a brick wall or you'll play for 200 hours. How do you feel about "literally similar to the game Rogue" roguelikes?
>>
>>735649272
Mediocre game. I didn't like it but I don't even remember why.

I just finished playing this one
https://store.steampowered.com/app/1344990/Zefyr_A_Thiefs_Melody/

It was a bit too easy IMO but overall it was a very fun zelda-like.

Very obviously a one-man project though, so go into it with that. Does anyone know any other 3D zelda-likes? There seem to be tons of 2D but this is the first 3D I know of that is competently executed.

X's HD "remaster" is notorious for its bogged faces and wrong, well, everything cause i guess they lost a bunch of assets so they redid them from scratch

I liked Zefyr quite a bit, it's one of the few Zelda clones that really nails the feeling of exploration even if it definitely was overambitious. I got some fascinating softlocks by doing a puzzle in the wrong order and had to jump off a cliff and blindly throw a fruit at a lever in midair as I fell in order to avoid getting drowned by a water lever change.

Astor: Blade of the Monolith isn't quite as good but might scratch the same itch. Oceanhorn sucked and I imagine the sequel is worse. It's more of an A Short Hike clone but Lil' Gator Game has a lot of fun tweaks on zelda items and the movement's a joy as a result. Hob is good if you haven't tried it. Tunic is more of a fucked up little puzzle game than a 'go into dungeon get the item kill the boss' Zelda but is worth checking out.

For 2D Zelda I liked Under the Island well enough. Better than The Girl from Arkanya though that one was also fine.

if you like scat and cuckholdry
also I'm pretty sure one of the games in this series ends with the MC neutered and spending the rest of his life as a human toilet.
>>
>>735654468
Yeah it was a bit overambitious, personally I found the puzzles a bit too simple but I personally encountered no bugs (although apparently he did a big bug fix pass a few weeks ago so maybe that's why).

I've been eyeing tunic, perhaps...

Are the kangdom hearts ports worth? I'm not super into Disney or FF but I also don't hate either.
>>
>>735577147
Just get 2 and skip the first, the games are practically identical except 1 had fomo paid battlepasses.
>>
>>735655669
yes
>>
>>735655669
Yeah the ports are pretty solid and the modding scene for the games is fairly robust for texturepacks/QoL/randomizers. The games are good but you have to be willing to meet it at its level of earnestness because otherwise it's going to seem intensely stupid.
>>
What's up with mudrunner being 1gb while snowrunner is 60?
>>
>>735656109
Pretty sure that size is including 5 years worth of trucks and DLC because I have most of it and my game is 65gb
>>
>>735649272
There was a "puzzle" where you had to follow an insect around and copy its path into a grid or something. That was boring, but it wasn't so bad to do once. But then there were more of them. I guess they're probably optional but games shouldn't have this type of filler content.

i think theyre ok? but im also sure most people will tell you to stop paying attention once you beat 2 cause the ones after are full of complete nonsense that failed to pay off the retarded retcon soup story after 10 years, rushing it in 3 for no reason

AND THEN instead of just trying to tie it up in a knot so they could start fresh.... have decided to continue the story into KH4
ive never seen a fanbase get blueballed and jerked around so hard for so long, remember each of these games basically came out on a new console

The Road to Elysium puzzles suck. Lasers intercepting lasers so that the lasers won't intercept other lasers.
(I completed the base game 100% and loved every part of it.)

4 because it's Rean at his edgiest and I shamelessly enjoy that. Also I found the mech duels fun.

AC 2 is comfy
Brotherhood is more of the same but it has a lot of fun side content
Revelations is where AC started going downhill: no horses, forced tower defense minigame, too much focus on bomb crafting
