2.0 was supposed to be the last patch (it's called Final Vision) and even that was originally just supposed to be bug fixes, too, I believe, it just ballooned out of proportion.
Personally, the biggest thing I want in a new update is for The undertale garbage in the later bits of the game to be reworked or removed, namely the entire basement and especially the fungal area but that will never happen

Honestly, I think the shift in tone is more due to the fact that it's a JRPG but it definitely marks the shift. Frankie clearly loves his RPG mechanics, but a part of me genuinely wonders what the game would be like if he leaned into survival horror over RPG mechanics.
