Usually, you give up raw defense to have this stat as an implicit.- Defense on shield passively works even if you don't have the shield out and it's just on your back. If you're dual-wielding, you have less defense.- Blocking with a shield doesn't seem any more effective than blocking with anything else (in terms of stamina when guarding). The shield just seems to exist for shield skills, raw defense, and abyss gear slots.

Does anyone know how you're supposed to get into Cloudmist Cave without charging a stab to phase through the waterfall like every guide online suggests doing?I spent like 45 minutes refusing to look up guides after finding another item that gave me this cave's location and finally buckled, and now every guide suggests stabbing, which seems unintuitive and downright retarded. It 100% seems like a sequence break/glitch, and not the intended way of getting in. Does a quest take you here later, or is there some later ability that lets you get into the waterfall cave without the stab?

The way to think of this game is the main story is basically a B-Tier Berserk Band of the Hawk shit where you'll be doing human v human for most of it and when the main story arc ends the entire world opens up to you to play with all teh sandbox systems in their entirerty, world bosses etc, NG+ if you want it. She has no voice lines in side quests, NPCs talk to themselves after long pauses where it’s obvious that Kliff would say something, but Damiane is just silent. They just never added voice lines for her, for these parts of the game. Which is a shame because it’s the only quest content she can do, and her voice actor is stellar (pun intended).In addition to that she lacks major exploration skills, as well as skills for combat. Giving her no Axiom Force, Force Palm, or related abilities seems like an odd choice at best.She feels very much like both an afterthought, and (more importantly) an intentionally gutted character so that you’re forced to play Kliff in as many aspects of the game as possible.

There's no classes/archetypes and the crime system sucks. The game is so close to being the perfect canvas for messing around and roleplaying in that it could quite easily be done with a handful of DLCs if the devs wanted.
I don't even agree that the story is 'bad'. As soon as the bandits begin collecting the abyss rocks everything is interesting, and the infiltration of the hospital early on was 100x better than KCD's monastery mission.
