It sucks that the show couldn't fully do it justice, but it's expensive to put such idieas on screen rather than a page. The crappy part is that the games are following the show depiction of the belters. The belters are supposed to be 8ft tall skellingtons since they live only in space and will die if they go down to a planet. Obviously the show struggled to depict that.
