By the time you get to him, it's likely that you'll organically have enough damage and block to either kill the right claw before its second big attack or block it.

Perfectly balanced boss as long as you don't get multiple unlucky hands, and card draw and energy generation are, again, something you'll organically have solved at this point.

Knowledge demon just feels like you have 3 turns to get some sort of degenerate synergy going or you lose the battle of attrition while he cripples your ability to turn the fight around. Incredibly un-fun.

Knowledge Demon is very easy.
He regularly skips his turn when he debuffs you and during the turn where he heals himself he deals less than 10 damage.
If you can't beat him then you also wouldn't be able to beat Crab or the Sandworm since those have a much higher damage output.
The trick is to pick the damage options for the first two, usually he should be dead the turn you get the third debuff or shortly after.

The main problem with multiplayer is that some people just throw out all their cards as quickly as possible, so when you draw into vulnerable or the skill that doubles your teams damage your team might've already used up their attacks already and wasted tons of damage.

But you don't know if you'll be the one pulling any of those first, or if somebody else will. I just made it a habit myself that if I draw into a debuff I play it first thing possible hopefully before anybody else can do anything. In some cases there's no way to coordinate certain combos like Tag Team, no way to convey to another player that you're going to use Coordinate to give them strength or similar supportive card effects. I like Knowledge Demon as a concept but his actual implementation just turns him into a DPS race statcheck that isn't as interesting as the other two bosses because there isn't much decision making when engaging with his gimmick; since Disintegration is pretty much the lesser evil in most cases.
Doormaker is just an unga fight that has basically zero flavor, even with the beta patch. it feels like they genuinely don't know what to do with him and only slapped the anti-infinite gimmick in the beta because those are currently an issue rather than because they conceptualised and wanted to design him as that sort of boss.

Knowledge Demon would be more interesting if he had a bigger variety of penalties to choose from. Maybe they could add something like a penalty that heals him, gives him +strength, makes you weak/frail etc. And randomize it instead of always giving you the same options in the same order.
Btw I'm pretty sure that Knowledge Demon was heavily inspired by the Genie boss in Dream Quest, who had a similar choose-a-penalty mechanic.

the last beta patch changed it so that on a9 they steal 3 str/dex instead of 2. so turn 2 they swung for 8x2 and 18 while you have -3 str/dex. It was kind of fucked up for a hallway. Now you're only -2 which means they also are only hitting for 7x2 and 17.

I just played the game for the first time today; I made it all the way to the act 3 boss: the yas slay queen!!
I think I'd have beat her if not for the damn dot that deals damage that goes through armor.
Looks like the new build for ironclad is all about stacking vulnerable based on the unlocks I got.

For me, it's the Regent. The best slay the spire 2 character. I even ask for free card casts and void form is so friendly and more than willing to oblige.

One time I upgraded void form and it gave me three. I said, "Wow, three for free!" and the nice friendly architect laughed and said "I'm going to call you 3-for-free!".

Now the architect greets me with "hey it's 3-for-free!" and ALWAYS sends me back to the bottom of the spire. It's such a fun and cool atmosphere at my local Spire, I go ascend it at least 3 times a week for a large ascension run with stars instead of forge, 1-2 times for daily runs on the weekend, and maybe once for multiplayer when I'm in a rush but want a great game that's easy, fast, and can match my daily social interaction needs.

I even dip my Decisions, Decisions in the Void Form, it's delicious! What a great character.

people kept taking it trying to use it like Prepared but it's obviously not that. Prepare is just a better Outmaneuver that activates Sly cards, Sly is still a broken mechanic and all this really did was mean she had to stop after getting 8 energy of value out of three card plays instead of looping her whole deck, and then get 12 worth next turn.

The problem with upgrading forge is that usually you sit on your sword for a while until it gets big enough for you to play it.
So although 3 forge is technically +3 damage, you rarely will hit with the sword more than twice.
A +3 on a strike will likely get you more mileage in damage than the forge for the early parts of the run.
Only when you get into later long fights and other forge support cards like double damage or double hit does it overtake since then that 3 will have some multipliers that make it stronger.

People used to, and possibly still, look down on colorless Regent. I've had early Manifest Authority+ carry me farther than it should have. One CHARGE!! can help you turn your Ascender's Bane and a Strike/Defend into free damage provided you still haven't drawn them. Hell, on one of these recent multiplayer runs I even did shit like using Photon Cut to throw Ascender's Bane to topdeck then immediately use CHARGE!! to convert it to minion, then use Glow or something else to draw into it right after. But you could fuck up like I did and use Decisions Decisions into CHARGE!! with not many cards left in your draw pile and the game WILL force you to target 2 cards each time without being able to back out of it... though I also discovered if you have cards you don't want to convert to minion in your draw pile, you can always select your already-converted Minion Dive Bomb to convert it into Minion Dive Bomb. I don't know if converting a card back into itself still counts as card creation for purposes of Arsenal/Pillar of Creation, as I did not have either of them on that run. If true, then even if you don't convert new cards into Minion Dive Bomb then each 2 cards you select with Decisions Decisions -> CHARGE!! should be 2 strength even if it's you just selecting the same 2 cards each time?

If you have a good star engine, Jackpot is REALLY strong on the regent.
On average you're dealing a fuckton of damage or blocking. If you have extra energy or can cheat out the jackpot the card is genuinely fucking insane.
The value with most characters is shitty but the regent can gamble win conditions out of thin air.

Did you know? Fiddle only blocks drawing during your turn and not at the start, so pocket watch still draws +3 cards. Should work with anything else that says draw at the start of your next turn too.

It's really a question of "How much draw do you have?" 2 coolheaded and a compile driver really isn't that much with how many cards the deck had so turning those cards off is fine for +2 every turn instead.
The problem is that most decks want a lot of draw so it's usually going to be bad for you. But if you haven't seen much, or it's mostly draw next turn type of effects, it's a very good way to salvage your deck.

How the FUCK do I play Ironclad? His block cards are shit and in Co-op his strategy as I understand it (kill while sacrificing health) seems counterintuitive with other characters because they can just block stall and Iron can't.

The only good card package for Ironclad is exhaust. Good stuff are Feel no Pain, True Grit (upgraded), Second Wind, then you either draft a random Ashen Strike or Thrashing to kill things.
Unless you have feel no pain you'll have to block with your face most of the time, but at least you will kill the bosses on A10 with a big Thrashing/Ashen
Also the other issue with the class aside from terrible block cards is that it has the shittiest of powers (Necrobinder laughs at Ironclad) and they removed all the weak debuffs other than Uppercut, which is his shittiest weak debuff from slay 1.

So the bottom option only has a 1/4 chance of having a downside (parasol is a downside) but the middle option should be safe enough most of the time since cape's -9 isn't that much compared to how much hp apparition can save and fog is still net -2 cards. Talon adding 2 curses can be pretty bad if have a very small deck, and notably if the 2 curses are worse than the wishes then parasol is also going to be bad for your deck.

Hellraiser + Pommel Strike, Cascade + a bunch of energy and card draw, Whirlwind, etc
The thing that gives you Strength per vuln stack on the enemy is pretty good, you can get retarded numbers on it some games
If you get lucky you can get Barricade + Body Slam going early since he has several good block powers to compliment it, and there's some busted block relics like Vambrace and Pael's Legion that help it a lot

You get fucked because that's the current state of Ironclad. They gutted the class from slay 1 where it was an all rounder.

Ironclad in 2 is just a sad sob. Sure, you can squeeze out a win, even on A10, but it's a sad, miserable pile of non synergistic cards.

Generally you want to pick up 1 good exhaust card to thin your deck and make your good cards better because you will draw them more often.
Best are True Grit (upgraded since it removes the random) and Thrash (this is one almost always solo wins me my runs).
You can build around most of the rares and be successful, there are a variety of strategies that work.
Your starter relic is broken and it enables you to play much more aggressive than other characters, you can even sometimes just setup and eat all the damage.
Don't be afraid to pick "bad" cards early to beat the Act 1 boss, also there's no shame in dodging elites if you've had a bad start.

Most my wins before A10 were just Thrashing, headbutt, repeat.
Other good stuff is Pact's End, you need some minimal exhaust to enable it (ascension's bane = 1 exhaust). After that, Pact's End and headbutt will clear everything except act 3 bosses.
For A10 I got lucky with the candle bitch giving me Bright Flame. It's not an infinite, since I have to spend max hp for it, but once I exhausted down to 10 cards I can loop Pact's End and Bright Flame till both act bosses were dead

Chad unlike other characters like to face tank, and damage race against the enemy, so don't hesitate to pick up more offensive cards than defensive. Your damage gets big enough you can kill them before they can scale
