You have to spend a lot of time grinding to use the best ones as opposed to just playing the game and learning patterns. If you're truly unable to adapt, the option is there to bruteforce the game, but there's an expectation that you'll get good enough to not need them. I respect the fuck out of that design goal and the way it makes you want to just play better. Kind of a huge shame you just wind up having to grind anyway because of the weapon level system, so you're still spending 20 minutes killing respawning towers at the start of your playthrough anyway. They almost had the right idea with punishing bad players by having them grind for boosts but the weapon grind on top of that kinda negates the satisfaction of mastery.
