Are you going to jump into PC gaming now that gaming PCs are less expensive than PS5s?
I guess that price is good enough if you've never had a pc before.

>>735903852It's always a bit shocking that these things have such massive graphics cards and obviously not enough RAM. Abmid level CPU at best, and a relatively small hard drive before we even really open up the hood and look at the specs on the components. 8Gb VRAM? is the 16Gb RAM DDR4 or DDR5? what's the speed and latency on the RAM and the SSD, what kind of motherboard are we looking at here! are there any open slots still? can I overclock? Is the PSU going to be good enough to upgrade the computer later or is it going to buckle under more RAM and another cooling fan? These prebuilts look like a deal at first glance, but theyre usually a collection of weird bargain bin parts, and no matter how big the graphics card is they're usually heavily bottle necked by the rest of the system, and it's usually a weird card with not enough VRAM anyways.

>>735903734I've been able to play every game I've ever wanted to play and I still have a 1080ti. That PC should be fine.
>>735905013This will probably be an ok prebuilt PC for most use cases. if the one you're trying to build yourself costs 4100 I would double check your use case and actually see what you need versus what seems popular or important. I run my gaming PC on my 1080p living room TV. I won't ever need anything better than a 3060 graphics card at that resolution. My CPU, VRAM, and RAM are otherwise top end, so my gaming PC is a juggernaut that blows through most gaming requirements at half the price of other gaming PCs. Double check what you actually need, most systems are bottlenecked by VRAM, CPU, and RAM.
>>735903565Not a terrible deal, all things considered.>>735905370There's a few stores offering new and old releases, you have a possibility to emulate the majority of shit that was never intended to be on pc in the first place. Aforementioned stores have frequent freebies and sales but you can also buy keys to activate from third party sites for dirt cheap. Or you can ignore all that and sail the seven seas.I understand it's dumbfounding for a retard like yourself to have that much choice as you seem to prefer to have slop directly injected down your throat without being offered much for an alternative, but it's also possible on pc to have such treatment so you can feel right at home.

>>735903565This is what I am aiming towards building. It's not even top end and it's still 2.5 grand. Getting the box at least running would be less but still north of a grand. It is aiming to be efficient, cool and quiet though so should be cheap to run and last a long time.

>>735903852Console itself $900then:>$200 (yearly, after price increase)>$200 controller (since you're going overpriced gamepad we'll just make this fair and since they're designed to break after a while we'll make this a repeating purchase every 2 years)>Games (since I know you're not going to be okay playing shit like Fortnite) $70 (and we'll be generous and only have you buy one game a year)Now, with the ps6 coming out in 2027, and the ps5 having came out in 2020, and the ps4 coming out in 2013, we have the average 7 year lifespan. That means, for console, buying only a game a year, you'll have spent $3990 over the entire generation. For the same price you'd spend on a playstation in total, you'd have been able to save up and buy a great pc, capable of running modern games at the best settings.

You don't buy a PC because its cheap, you buy it because its powerful and under you control, instead of a single use toy. You can make it cheaper by looking for good deals, building it yourself, and other factors, but its always going to be capable of more than a proprietary console, and you're going to need one anyway for all your browsing, work, media, and other usage Consoles are an outmoded concept when they're basically a proprietary PC (or phone/tablet) that has been gimped into only doing what Sony, Microsoft, Nintendo etc. wants you to do with it. The days of console benefits went away long ago and were totally obliterated after either the PS2/Xbox/Gamecube/Dreamcast or definitely the PS3/X360/Wii generation. The Steam Deck is perhaps the best example of what a modern 'console' should be - its a ready to go pick up and play bit of PC hardware, with an open source Linux based PC OS. You can load things outside of Steam and even use it at the same time as the Big Picture UI, connect it to a dock, and use it to do your taxes if you want because its (You)r PC, not their console. Now granted its still physically a portable handheld so it won't be as easy to customize the core hardware, but you can still upgrade or mod a good bit of it with ease. Laptops can fall into the same paradigm Buying or building a desktop PC means you can upgrade it as you like and customize as needed. In the long run its much cheaper; consider the "quality boots" analogy, but more importantly you have control! >>735904306Its insane to me that they haven't come out with another revision yet continue to sell them at that price. The S2 was great for its time if you didn't get one of the lemons, but it lacks so many features. MS now has "gameinput" which can handle gyro and other shit and still apparently has refused to make a new pad that is at parity with the DualSense or upcoming Steam(Deck) Controller in terms of features.

>/v/ shits on consoles and claim this is a PC board >they are completely ignorant about PCs
>>735940605>Optical Drive capable of burning M Disc or anything really including Blu rays>1 SSD OS, 1 SSD Software, very large HDD Files
>>735910920I don't know anything about pricing in GBP, but there's a lot of stuff you can improve or are just plain insane. >CPU7000 series is good, but now outdated. Get a 9800X3D at least if you want to stick with an 8c/16t gaming PC, or if you stream or do anything else that can use more than 8 cores frequently, the 9950X3D is the way to go for 16c/32t. >CPU coolerNot bad, that does seem expensive, way too expensive for that cooler though. I'd also look at Arctic , Thermalright, and Noctua>Mobo600 series is outdated the new stuff is 800 series. Also why an uATX? you pay a premium for smaller mobos and they have less expansion so if you don't need the size at uATX (microATX) or mITX, just get a standard ATX board (or EATX on the higher ends). Anyway, I suggest not cheaping out here. X870E boards are preferable but there are some good B850 if on a budget. >RAMOkay, if you only want 32GB and don't plan to upgrade it. Kingston tends to be stupidly expensive compared to others, but DDR5-6000 CL30 is solid; I prefer GSkill generally. make sure they have EXPO as its basically guaranteed to work easily with AMD CPUs. >StorageWD Black SN850X is good; there's a newer version if you want max performance thats the 8100. Alternately, the Samsung 990 Pro or 9100 Pro , or a handful of others. However there's no reason to get a separate WD blue drive like that much less a smaller one? Either buy more of the WDBlack or Samsung M.2 drives, or if you want a value get Samsung 870 EVO SATA 2.5 4TB SSDs for cheaper; they make a great option for your installed game library or something. For the 10TB HDD, that's expensive; there are cheaper ways to get decent storage drives, if you want 'at rest' storage. You can shucck the drive out of a WDElements or similar external and it will basically be a whitelabel version of a WD Red, Gold, HGST etc.. depending. >GPU Are you decided on NV? 9070XT, 9070, or 9060 16GB may be equal or cheaper vs 5060Ti 16, 5070Ti
>>735941327I have updated it since then.
>>735941092I just want one, ideally 8tb, gen 5 nvme and then four 20tb plus spinning discs to replace what I have already and add more storage at the same time.
>>735907986>>735907329entry level cheap shit is the intelligent purchase for breaking into the world of limitless customization..my mx518 from 09 eats a new 10 doll hair mouse every 5 years as a sacrifice to the tech gods.

>>735903565technically a ps5 is 350 dollars if u buy used but i still dont want one
>>735941406Ah, okay. >CPUGet a 9800X3D or better. >CoolerSame as above>Thermal pasteGood choice.>MoboNice update for B850. I've had some bad experiences with Gigabyte cutting corners. I'd look at Asus (Strix B850-F Neo or something like that I hear is one of the better ones) or MSI (Tomahawk) for B850>RAMStill fine, but if you think you want 64GB at some point, get a single 32GB stick instead of 2x 16gb kit. >Storage>Uh...multiple blues and now an 8100 but only 1TB? For a boot drive, I'd not take anything smaller than 2TB. SN8100 is great, but if its stupidly expensive because its PCIE5, I wouldn't worry too much is not worth wasting that space to drop down to 1TB vs the SN850X or Samsung 990 Pro. WD Red+ is still expensive as fuck for only 10TB. Look into the other storage drives on DataHoarder or one of the Backblaze reports, and pull from an external for less than half the price (at least in burgerland). >GPUI'd either upgrade to the 5070 Ti 16GB if going NV, or if you want AMD go 9070XT / 9070 as both maintain 16GB. >Case Its a pretty solid case >PSUNot a bad option I think, but 750w may be a little low for long term. >OpticalDo you absolutely need a BluRay writer? That one is very expensive and i'm, unsure why.>OSDo not pay for Windows 11, especially Home. Head to /g/ they'll sort you out. If nothing else you can buy a key from some of the same vendors that sell game keys for like $10 for Pro.>Sound cardTotally unnecessary these days and there are other options vs SoundBlaster. With a decent mobo, the onboard sound will be solid these days. Save your cash>Monitor It depends what you value and what you want to spend, different from your PC itself. If you awant a 1440P 27", I'd consider an OLED w/120hz+.>Keyboard / MouseOkay I suppose...but that's an entirely different conversation. LOTS of options >SpeakersMore expensive than I thought, limited quality. Lots of options for speakers too
>>735907329>>735903852This is your brain on consoles.
>>735903642You can play games on your phone. Emulators even
>>735942493Not all the parts are to be bought at once. The list is just what a final build might look like. The processor I'm going to keep as I don't want to spend too much money and I think it's plenty fast enough. The cooler I might look more at. The 2x16 RAM is dual channel I believe so it's faster than a bunch of mismatched sticks. For the SSDs I haven't decided quite what to get yet, might be the PCI5 black and 1 blue or 2 blues and then maybe buy the black later but I have them all listed so I know my options (I know I want 3 drives so that the OS, software, and general files are all on their own dedicated drives and don't get in the way of each other). I looked at the 16GB GPUs and decided it wasn't worth the extra money as I won't be doing 4K where it would really be needed. 150W of headroom on the PSU is fine I think. The disc drive doesn't need to be literally that one, it's really just a placeholder in the list for whatever one I do end up putting in. Same for the OS really. Onboard audio is OK but that card is a lot better both in terms of sound quality and capability (like surround sound which the mobo doesn't even have the jacks for) and it's quite cheap so why not. The monitor I might also look more at. The speakers seem good enough for my purposes - Not audiophile level but good enough for films and music.

>>735940579>You don't buy a PC because its cheap, you buy it because its powerful and under you controlTrue, but as a nice side effect of that control, it also ends up cheaper because no one forces you to pay an extra subscription to use the internet you already pay for.
