The fact that Pierre's is more convenient completely eliminates the choice from relevance. If Jojamart had a shittier selection, for more money, but was 30 seconds closer, the dilemma would feel a lot more real. It has a dense established forest on the bottom and right, a river on the left, and cliffs on the top. The real problem with Stardew Valley is Americanisation. Harvest Moon is largely Japanese but it feels abstract enough that it's a kind of nowhere land. The American insertions end up feeling weird. You've got a mountain man in the snes HM but in SV it's just some weird homeless guy. You've got Jocks and Staceys but it's in a small town with like 20 people. You've got trailer trash people in a town where a house must cost pennies. It doesn't really hold up and feels weird, it's the video game equivilent of "eat your hamburger apollo"
