Many are saying it's one of the best games ever made. Does it really belong in the Top 3 alongside Resident Evil 4 and Dark Souls: Prepare To Die?
>>
Maybe
>>
no combat so it filters browns
>>
>>735940095
I don't know if it's top 3, but it's one of the few games I've played where I have no hesitation giving it a 10/10
>>
it's a modern wonder
engineering and art coming together in an impressive work
>>
>>735940095
it stands at the pinnacle of walking sims because it's the only one that actually has a cool story and makes it engaging for you to want to keep learning
also good music
>>
>>735940095
>puzzleslop
definitely not
>>

Not a walking sim

Outer Wilds is considered one of the best videogames in the world if not the best. But is it really that good? Of course we'll have to find out.
>>
Ocarina of time is the greatest game ever made tho

Its cool. Not the best.
Ridiculous it doesn't have an ingame clock to tell you how much time you have in the cicle. My playthrough would have likely been half the time if the reset didn't constantly interrupt me. And this issue is even worse in the dlc.
Writting often feels pretentious and them doing the tranny they/them pronouns for the feldspar guy completely takes me out of it.
It's also a game you can only play once since the only unlockable is knowledge, after that it completely loses its value and this also means you don't even need to explore really, you can just experiment and stumble onto the solutions by trial and error making the game mostly pointless- which is why I avoided doing it too much but still got to the quantum moon early and past the anglerfish like that so then when I'm finding hints later telling me those things it feels worthless.

infinitely more interesting, enjoyable, and memorable than the entire concord trilogy

>Ordinary people fighting quite mundane mystical creatures
>The scene isn't even shown in motion.
>You don't even know most of the characters by name at that point
>A hundred times more thrilling than any heroslop with hundreds of scriptwriters

Timestop kino
>>
>>735940095
It's a game I would recommend to anyone because the experience is great and there is nothing like it. However it has certain weaknesses so after finishing it it's more of a 7/10. Far from the best.
>>
>>735942580
>>735943690
artstyle seems off putting
>>
>>735940095
is boring and feels like asset flop with how ugly everything is, luckily i didnt fall for loop mechanics (seriously great move by the devs so they dont even have to design more levels just loop players in the same one over and over) and refunded before 2 hours
>>
>>735946823
Local traditions oblige me to call you brown. I'm sorry.
But for real, you must try it. That's the best gaming experience I had in years.

No one oversell it that much unless they are falseflagging troll intending to shit on it the next post (apparently a pro-science game trigger culture warrior)

It's still a very good game for some people.
There is a recurring case of
-drop it frustrated after 10h
-come back to it month later and realize it's glorious

It's not perfect in all aspect but it's refreshing to see an exploration game that don't make you collect pointless shit, and don't hold your hands.

>Does it really belong in the Top 3
of what? "best game ever"?

>Resident Evil 4 and Dark Souls: Prepare To Die?
No point comparing completely different genre.
>>
>>735946823
It is, in fact, offputting. But you get used to it.
>>
>>735947830
Understandable but I still don't dig the gameboy colour photo artstyle.
Might look into it later, thanks.
>>
There's like 20 other games that did what this game tried to do but better but only this one gets remembered cause it has good music and a kino ending.
Which is annoying in a lot of ways.
>>
It's a pretty good 7/10 game.
>>
>>735946823
You can change the color schemes to make it easier to parse. It's worth the attempt.

Played it once. You have to talk to quirky creatures in order to finally get to a spaceship. Got in, crashed it almost immediately due to the retarded controls. Now I have to walk up the hill and talk to the quirky creatures again before I can even get to the ship to try again.

Uninstalled after that.

Put to a popular vote, Outer Wilds would never be considered one of the best.
The game is too niche.
The freedom the game gives the player is a double edged sword. For some it completely elevates the game to one of the greats.
For others, it just means you get stuck in a part of the game (for me it was the desert planet with the caves filling up with sand) for so long you just lose interest and stop playing.
Because with every game, even Outer Wilds, you actually DO need to play it a semi specific way for it to be enjoyable. And for some players the freedom that should otherwise be a boon instead becomes a negative.
So not only do you need to be the minority of gamers who would enjoy this kind of walking sim space puzzle reading game, you would also need to not fall into one of the several areas of the game that could frustrate you into not playing if you encounter them too early.
For me, the game ended up being too frustrating to play to the point that any curiosity i had was gone. Also i talked about my theory for the game plot and ending with a friend who'd completed the game, and it seemed like i have already figured out the broad strokes.

It just doesn't have wide appeal and peoples individual experiences with the game varies too much.

Well, such as? I'm always happy to hear about more kino.

Topkek. Only midwit fanboys on vee say this stupid shit.

Except this is literally what the game does.

If you have sex with her on the quantum moon and you nut in her, then look away and then look back will the nut still be there?
>>
>>735950641
I'd like to think she'd see it as a nice interspecies experiment
>>
>>735951183
Your scout moves with quantum rocks so I would say yes
>>
Easily the best exploration/puzzle game ever. You can do lots of tricks with the flight controls and jetpack. Great writing. DLC was a bit weaker, but still kino despite the weak ending.
>>
this game looks too reddit for me to ever play it
>>
>>735940095
I love flying around and taking in the atmosphere, but the actual game progression can feel like searching a needle in a haystack. It's especially worse if you take breaks from it. Wasn't for me.
>>
>>735940095
Maybe not top 3 but top 10.for.sure.

I'm so happy I went in blind.
>>
>>735952363
Missing out.

>>735953957
Me too. I looked up the solution to one puzzle because I was stupid as hell, but other than that... PS. Scarier than any horror game I've ever played. I stayed off Giant's Deep for 10 hours because I couldn't deal with the waters. Floating around in open space... there's something about it.
>>
>>735948528
If you reached the ship the first time you don't have to talk to anyone, you already have the codes you can go straight to the space ship. Hell you don't even have to talk to anyone except the guy at the top of the museum and walk out to get the codes. This is the most "I got intimidated while trying to control the remote drone and then jumped into ghost matter" post I've ever seen.
>>
>>735940095
It’s the video game version of a really good Pixar movie.

If that appeals to you, then yes, it’s great.
>>
>>735947831
>>735948654
Funny thing is that OW is already normalfaggot core without doing any of this shit, proving that a little game design goes a long way.
>>
>cool semi realistic space stuff
>but not on a map thats 99.999999999% fucking nothing that needs a loading screen between every planet
>>
>>735940234
its not a 10/10 thats silly

it relies way too much on text and has some overly obscure puzzles. Its only fun if you use google to paper over it flawed and underdeveloped pacing
