Should I get a new controller with hall effect triggers?
>>735951289If your current one is working fine then no really. Hall effect is real nice but by the same token how many games truly utilise that level of precision? Modern games like forza can but in game you're only look at real high power monsters where the subtle accelerator control is needed - a ford fiesta doesn't care as its not powerful enough. That said I have found hall effect useful for the burnout minigame as part of drag races in need for speed prostreet. A lot of older racing games really don't have that much sensitivity, though motorhead is one exception that comes to mind.Really hall effect sticks matter more for racing (particularly in old games that play funky with deadzones as nearly every HE controller lets you tune deadzones and response curves which is real handy for games where non-keyboard support is pre-determined controllers like say how Stunt GP works).

The crew motorfest is honestly great. Its my car game for the foreseeable future. They just added nascar for fucks sake. And everything handles well, especially the bikes. You gotDrifting, formula one, rally, bikes, offroad, classic cars, nascar, street racing, and like other more specific classes of races. And like fucking 800 cars. All in the base game. Its fucking nuts how much is in it and how solid it all is. Theres also planes and boats but who cares. I know this kinda sounds like a shill post but i swear it isnt. Every time i play the thing im just so stunned how fucking solid it is and how many different types of racing classes there are. Before this my go to was nfs heat, but motorfest handles much better.

I’m actually really enjoying the new Screamer. What are your guys thoughts on it?
>>735953695I'm getting better at the controls but they're still unintuitive to a degree. Knowing how your car is going to react and using that to get consistently clean cornering shouldn't be so inscrutable. The relationship between using the sticks, braking, and throttle aren't made clear enough.
I hope FH6 actually lets you disable all driver aids this time. The steering dampening that blatantly goes beyond just "things going fast don't like to turn" annoys me. If I want to slam my TVR speed 12 to full lock at 180mph and die in a fireball then by golly I should be able to. No tree or ditch shall be spared my wrath.

Some can actually turn a bit with left stick, some only want you to use right stick. And others want different amounts of both stick at different times depending on the curve. Some touching the left stick while drifting either does nothing or everything, and some really need brakes to rotate the rear. It's pretty unintuitive still.I turned on constant throttle and manage with brake taps and its felt a lot better.Story and writing is shit, and the level of budget spent on that side HAS to be higher than what was spent on the rest.

>>735967240The best is obviously a DD wheel, but I don't have the need to upgrade even from a G29 as a rally main. In circuit racing the force rating (preferably 5-12 Nm) makes more difference. Lower end gear does not give you all the minute detail there, so you are relying more on audiovisual cues to keep on the limit.
One day I will force myself to finish my playthrough of wild wild racing but that day is not today.
I started playing Motorstorm. Seems like it could be entertaining but I don't have a solid opinion yet.

>>735967240yes, having more than 2 nm creates more headroom for your ffb allowing you to keep a believable amount of force on the wheel without losing detail, depending on the game you're playing you may run into clipping sooner rather than later, having a higher max output prevents that

Im only here to complain that I hate motorbikes on the freeway as those fuckers always go 30 over and weave too close between cars.If you do this, I hate you and please wear a fucking helmet.
>>735971975Daytona USA on the 360 had this setup so that's not a big deal. It's more like trying to substitute a wheel for an analog stick that I struggle to make work correctly.

>>735971784 I am playing with a controller I guess my main complaint is that I can never tell when the car is gonna drift cause I'm too brake2driftsloppa pilled from modern racing titles outside swapping gears. >>735971958Modded AMS2.
>>7359656921 being as good as it is while having low PC spec requirements and having a very good netcode is why it's lasted as long as it has, and 2 will never quite have that.
>>735976962No tools, emulation is too good.
I think i've taken a wrong turn.
>>735971958American fuck simulator
>>735977091Idk, performance is quite good (not for an EA title, for a finished game) and multiplayer just works. The problem is the lack of content and W1 players seeing no point in moving to 2.

>>735971975Bind each gear button to a single direction on your right analog stick using something like Joy2Key.So like left is 4th gear, top left is 5, top is 6 and so on. Should get you a pretty playable result with a standard dual stick controller.

For some old racing games XinputPlus has been a real saving grace.
I've just reinstalled TXR now that the new hard mode is out. Should I bother grinding the engine swap perk before going to NG+, or just switch right away? All I have is the modern Supra which is a bit shit by endgame standards.
>TXR threadSweet. I have a question that's been bugging me for 20 years. What the FUCK was picrel's problem and why couldn't I find the cunt after beating everyone else!?Gave up after a month of school nights wasted with exams coming up lol.

I wish more racing games put effort into top tier sound quality for their weather effects. I know why they don't but it still annoys me.
>>735979670>it's so fucking good, it pains me it took so long to find out about itIt is one of 3 utilities I keep on hand at all times for old games. The others being dgvoodoo2 and SuperF4.

I am getting my driver's license. I have thought about buying a set of Racing Wheel to improve my driving practices safely, although I am also thinking about purchasing a real car and driving it in a quiet area. I would like to be able to extend more practical hours and save fuel. So my question is what is the set that feels the most realistic and that simulates a manual car well and which game would be the best, not so much in the race but that does simulate a city well?
>>735980352Protip: years of vidya and driving IRL wont worth shit on your racing sim setup.

>>735973865I played Flatout 2 for the longest time without realising UC was a "remake" of 2. What makes it better, just the graphic upgrades or something else?
What's going on with FH6's graphics? With every iteration these games have gotten better looking with more impressive visual effects but FH6 looks straight ass, seemingly inheriting Motorsport's washed out palette. I understand FH5's case with it being set in Mexico but there's no reason for Japan to look equally as bad if not worseFH4's environments looked miles ahead of either of those
>>735981789Fancier graphics, a couple new cars per class and a few new competitors so you get more cars in a race.
>>735981928That almost looks like it is tonemapped down from HDR - the sky blowing out like that is a common side effect.
