We're laughing now, but I can easily see a bad 2050's timeline where people are huddled around in the hovels of a post-collapse society. We'd be talking by a crackling fire barrel, reminiscing about the deus ex machina that spoke to us briefly before being lost to time, and how it used to generate pictures of anime tiddies.
>"Where did it go, father?"
>"When the world went dark, many gifts our forbearers had forged were lost. The great daytah cinders used to host those gods, but they've long since abandoned us. They say some tech priests still commune with the old ones, but I've never seen one myself."

>>735974356
It depends on how deep the mudflood buries everything.
>>
>>735974356
It's worse than you'd think. Many advanced machines, technology and medecine are "lost knowledge" in that we know how to use them now, how to make them with other advanced technology, but we don't know how we'd build them or discover them again if we lost it all. Sure the internet is choke full of information but without electricity it's useless. Local libraries don't have the kind of books you'd need to learn to start over. Hygiene and sanitation levels would quickly drop down to third world level, causing a lot of sickness and deaths. Anyone who relies on drugs would be fucked once their bottles run out. Maintenance of public infrastructure would stop, they'd deteriorate and quickly make a lot of places unlivable.
>>
>>735975565
this kind of mentality is retarded because way, way too many people have the knowledge to make efficient generators out of scrap. Midwits have this image in their head of some big sun spot or EMP happening and the world turning into Mad Max but realistically it's way way way easier to just make something we already figured out how to make in the past than for people to come up with a brand new idea and work out the kinks.

>>
>>735975849
You are vastly underestimating the amount of people that could make a functioning power generator that works on just burning wood or a water wheel if using scrap parts if they were forced to. It wouldn't even be difficulty if they could just scrap random shit to get copper, like old microwaves.
Just because (you) don't know how to generate electricity doesn't mean Jorge the spic mechanic who's been fixing things with scrap parts for his whole life or an engineering graduate couldn't cobble something together in a week if they really needed to. Hell, high school students make functioning power generators as school science fair projects. Getting access to electricity would be an absolute non-issue even in some imagined post apocalypse scenario. Unless somehow every mechanic on the planet dies and the only people left are retail workers and office drones.

>>Ancient civilization had super ultra advance technology far beyond anything available in the modern era
It's a trope because it's been the case multiple times throughout human history.
>collapse of rome lost europe concrete, road-building and agricultural techniques for centuries
>bronze age collapse almost wiped out writing and metallurgy was all but gone for a while in mesopotamia
>polynesians lost their knowledge of sailing once they settled down
>collapse of the han dynasty resulted in incalculable losses because so much was burned and destroyed
If you don't use it (or write it down) you lose it.

The number of people who know how things work in general is globally massive, but as a fraction of humanity absolutely tiny. There is also the fact that just because you know how something works doesn't give you the knowledge how to make it. E.g. it's easy to make bloomery iron, but to go from ore to high quality Vanadium-Chromium Steel mass production isn't trivial. Without Googling do you for example know how to make flat reference plates?

>way too many people
Citation needed. There are so many normies who only use Facebook and Instagram. If you try to explain computers or any nuanced nature of tech, they just shake their head and say shit like
>"nah dude, I just like football and PS5, I'm not into computer stuff!"
A person or an individual anon, perhaps, is intelligent. The masses, by and large, are borderline retarded. There would still be smart people, but for their own safety, they would either seclude themselves or intentionally keep those beneath them dumb to maintain their power.

High-tech shit will still exist in my scenario, and there will be people smart enough to run it, but they will be the minority. Do you honestly believe some podunk in Appalachia will know or even care to know the nature of the world they live in, rather than live day to day as best they can? how do I know time travel is impossible?
simple really
if it was possible at any point in time there should have already been a time traveler that have come to the past
yet it didn't happen yet, so at any point in future time travel hasn't happened yet

what does this mean?
if time travel hasn't been invented in any point in time, it means AGI never happened, and it isn't capable of creating time travel
if time travel not existing implies AGI isn't real, I can assure you that by shorting Nvidia you will make bank given enough time

I assume you mean cats talking in human tongue, and it is basically inference, you understand human speech so you imagine a cat talking in human legible tongue, so what you make up as fiction is basically grounded on reality

either way, cat tongue isn't that complicated anyways, they have basic phrases that they repeat

>axioms that are absolute and based off of reality
Is this reality following rules of Euclidean geometry, or some non-Euclidean one?
Is excluded middle an actual law or not?
And thousand other examples.
I understand what an abstraction is, I don't see why think that our approach is necessarily based off reality, instead of being symbolic manipulation, independent of reality at hand, that can be used to abstract parts of reality for the purpose of communication. If there is an objective reality, then at least some logics are describing something that doesn't happen outside of their own, theoretical sphere.

It isn't just a matter of electricity, though even that could be an issue especially if there was a major collapse that meant that either a large percentage of people with that knowledge were either actually wiped out like a plague, or things were so unstable that they were not able to spend the time doing so because they're avoiding being raped by cannibals or are forced to grow food for some warlord etc. In fact, if anything it could be a major issue if some billionaire in their bunkers who have the knowledge, resources, and manpower necessary to do some of these things. Hell, just consider drug development - consider that throughout recorded history we only got antibiotics, even the most simple predictable types, in the last century. Even if you tried to go away from growing penicillin and use something like a mineral based antibiotic (Dr. Stone touched on this), its possible but requires a lot of knowledge and sufficient materials, machinery et.c

We've lost more things or come close to it just in recent years. Hell the
>We don't have plans to replicate a Saturn V rocket anymore
thing is an issue and that is despite a project designed specifically to retain lots of their info and some of the smartest people in the world. They were lost/destroyed, or were contingent or some other off the shelf part (ie a given vacuum tube or whatever made by 60s-co, is no longer available and its plans may have been destroyed when 60s-co went to making resistors in the 80s or whatever the fuck), manufacturing style etc.. that are no longer available. Even the people who could confirm some of those specifics are not alive anymore. Hell, you want a vidya example
>Mass Effect LE didn't have the ME1 Pinnacle Station because they lost the source code!
>Lots of other games ended up losing the code or otherwise fucking up etc
The ME1 LE example was thankfully modded back in by players creating an approximation, but game code/assets can vanish

Depends. If Xion is in the real world, it's because no sunlight fucks humanity worse than the machines. If it isn't, because it makes for a really dramatic setting.

I will never get the "the real world is another layout of the simulation" meme theory. It's clear that the real world is real and it was 100% confirmed in matrix 4
>>
>confirmed in matrix 4
6/10 bait

You seen post-colonial africa and southeast Asia? It's actually a frighteningly plausible setting.

Europeans grew up among the ruins of ancient Roman wonders for centuries. That's the origin of the trope, I suspect

Neo's brain was connected to the source. He got the wifi's password after meeting the Architect. Why do people fail to understand this?

>>735987426
Because that isn't in the movie.

Why is she molesting that kid?
>>
>>735987741
Some people are really stupid and believe shit like Spirit Science.
>>
>>735989891
You can't molest the willing.
>>
>ancient civilization had complex but primitive engineering feats that makes people think they had the help from demons or gods
>they just happened to be really smart for their time but had their knowledge lost due to some asshole barbarian nation that invade and destroyed their libraries

Isn't that just real life
