Technically they're part of the same shared universe but pretty much all of the stories involving mutans are just mutants fighting mutants and mutants almost never show up in any other marvel story aside from a couple specific popular heroes like Wolverine and Deadpool. Which makes Juggernaut extra weird as one of the only non-mutant major villains they ever face

X-Men very often get tied up in cosmic stuff, the Phoenix Force is a major cosmic entity and it originated and is mostly concerned with mutants. The Shi'ar are one of the most important alien races in marvel and they debuted in and are a major focus of many X-Men stories. The Brood, while not as major, are in a similar boat. Ms. Marvel/Captain Marvel was basically saved from being a nobody bit player by her involvement in X-Men stories, she was basically a nobody before Rogue permanently stole her powers, the whole Binary thing came from an X-Men story.

If I want to read about Spider-man I just read any of his storylines. There are ups and downs I'd say, manga is a lot easier to get through but comics have assloads of content.
