It was also seen as too theatrical compared to the original translation. A lot of the objective linguistic errors have since been fixed though and now that time has passed, most hardcore fans prefer the official translation because the theatricality is actually more accurate to English, and it took some time for that fact to assimilate across the language barrier. Think of how quirky Undertale is in English, with some characters even having different font styles to further differentiate how weird they talk.
