Its not specifically realism but trying to achieve realistic lighting and overdetailed models and has just led to this shit where everything looks kindof ugly, and worse yet, all start to look the same. Its how you get characters like Spyro having wrinkles, theyre no longer just trying to make it look good, theyre trying to make it look detailed. Some stuff just does not translate to more detail well, its like trying to draw a cartoon character as though they are real, so you give them peach fuzz all over and laugh lines and a thousand yard state with hyper realistic eyes. They need to work backwards, making something more realistic doesnt mean it looks better, all this shit is starting to look the same too. Especially stuff that was more cartoony and stylized in the first place should not be doing this stuff, some stuff just does not translate to "realistic" and it loses all charm and aesthetic value when it tries to.

That aside it's still very open after you get the ship, far more than you'd expect for a "modern" game. It's also very well balanced, each party member feels useful and has maybe the best skill distribution in the series (nobody feels useless), the game is crunchy and the bosses are just right.if you do play it, turn off objective indicators and heal-on-level-up in Settings.
