Once you research blue science, you are permanently distracted on random side quests.

>I need to actually finish my mall for once, let's do that
>I have enough quality modules, let's put them in our mines and smelters
>it's fine to just mix random quality ores in the smelter, but they should be segregated at the smelter output
>the circuit condition I set up for light oil cracking didn't work like I intended it to and I only noticed, when my battery factory slowed down to a crawl
>let's plant some more 100 solar panels, 84 accumulator blueprints to reduce our reliance on steam power more
>hmm, I should make it so that the inserters for the water boilers are powered by the solar panel network, so steam power is really only used once my accumulator has less than 10% charge
>more quality modules are ready, let's go on an odyssey to my mining outpost and put them in
>thankfully I already spent 3 hours clearing up my borders and setting up walls and gun towers far outside my pollution cloud, otherwise I would have to constantly invest a bit of time in between on biter attacks, repairing and destroying nests

It's constant. And if you aren't diligent like me about making future-proof designs, following certain design rules, you would also spend a lot of time constantly rebuilding your base. Like instead of rebuilding my green circuit factory, I just expanded it with a red belt, because a red belt allows it to have the perfect ratio of inputs and outputs.

It fell apart for me (both before 2.0 and after) when I automate blue sceince

It's not even that it's busywork but rather, the game is effectively 'solved' byt then unless you want to make megabases for the sole purpose of 'haha number go up'. It's not even rewarding to me.

That sounds fairly reasonable. I wish more devs analyzed their games in detail like that.

Well, blogpost says the removal was because it didn't really fit with the rest of the game and gave new players wrong impression, which is quite different from not wanting to be compared to minecraft.

Factorio is spreadsheet visualization software masquerading as a video game. There's no reward for making any improvements. You aren't discovering interesting new enemies or artifacts, or even zones unless you also buy Space Age. You can sink hours or days into building more of the same conveyor/inserter/train patterns and the only thing you have to show for it later is watching slightly more widgets move slightly faster onscreen. Like >>736019147
also said once you've figured blue science out there's nothing left in this "game".

What the fuck is your problem? Who the fuck does sushi smelters?

Use burner inserters, retard.

Literally just skill issue.

What do you mean? I haven't discovered any problems yet.

They aren't as efficient. Solar-powered electric inserters are literally free.

I see. If you want to save yourself some time and logistical complexity, you could crank out legendary tier 2 quality mods and place them in everything. Legendary tier 2 quality mods are +5% while legendary tier 3 is only +6.2%. So you're only missing out on +1.2% per mod by sticking to legendary tier 2's.
