They're too quick to rush in to the horror element and then the actual wagie element just ends up taking a back seat. Feels like Voices of the Void is one of the few games that gets it right. You can days, sometimes even a week or more without anything spooky than some simple ambiance shit happening during which time you're just doing your daily tasks and shit.

Even though I make shit pay, it’s incredibly comfy compared to my 9-5 office job. No stress. I come in, put things on a shelf, occasionally get asked by an old person where the canned peas are, and the most important thing is I only work with dudes. The only women I see are the hot customers in yoga pants. It can suck but it’s better than most wagie work. Pro tip: find a store outside of a city

It's not a supermarket sim, the store is just a backdrop for the stories the devs wanted to tell, it's a lineal single player story-focused game.Think a walking sim with a little bit more gameplay, yo do have to stock some shelves, make sure the store is tidy, help customers find cat food, etc. but it's nothing like a full on simulator, you don't even scan stuff at the register iirc.
