We didn't realize how good we had it back then.
uhhhhh yes i did, ps3 didn't have games and 360 had paid online+rrodi've been blackpilled since 2006, y'all npcs have been paying full price for these rinky dink ass games
NTA but expansions an re-releasing the same game but with minor fixes and bite sized content was a thing. Persona 3 FES comes to mind but I'm sure there were millions of other examples.
>>736022063Well????Who is right???
Yes we did. It's why we laugh at zoomers all the time.
>>736022332It was never good, so both are wrong.
>>736022228I didn't care for the multis on 360 to care about the subs. If I wanted to game online I played on PC. Imagine paying for playing FPS games on a controller. Sickening.
>>736022063the good ol days of daylight robbery having to buy 1MB save data memory from the snoy sleezebags because the paystation had nothing built in
>>736022063How many games does the PS2 have compared to ps3,4, and 5?
>We didn't realize how good we had itBut we did and we complain every opportunity we get, shut the fuck up zoomie.
>>736022557No you didn't you kept paying for online goy, sit down millenialcuck
>>736022063don't you boomers have your own board where you can cry and jerk eachother off? >>>/vr/
>>736022228>Since 2006No, really your dad is a blue collar guy and you’re poor and were born in 2001
>>736022484
>>736022484I remember the accurate number for PS2 being something like 10,200 games in totalWhile PS3's number was something like 2000. PS4 and PS5 had even less
>>736022479>zoomers don't understand how expensive portable flash memory was in 1994I hate revisionist zoomers
>>736023163don't forget the MagicGoy™ technology
>>736022850No I didn't. The last time I bought a console was the PS3, and I only bought that in 2010 after it started actually getting games, had a 50% price cut with the slim, and it had just been hacked so I could play all the games for free off the HDD, and online was free. And literally everyone knew the PS2 was better than the PS3 or 360.
>>736023270Magic gate is a proprietary encryption tech to prevent the booting of unsigned code through the memory card, not the storage capacity itself, zoomer
>>736022063uhm just plug in and play your game existed before the PS2, sweaty :)
>>736022228demon's souls carried that entire generation
>>736022479>>736023270you stupid subhuman little zoomie faggot. The N64 also sold you memory cards.
>>736022063In other news, Sony just found some more records that say they sold an extra 10 million PS2s!
>>736022479This greed killed vita, they used some proprietary bullshit all the time. I'm surprised PS5 allows you to use normal NVME m.2 drive.
if you had a certain model ps2 your games literally didnt work. star ocean 3 & xenosaga & gta sa had a whole debacle about this where some ps2s couldnt play dual layer dvds so you got disc read error or they werent compatible with the newer software libraries
>>736024598nintendo was using proprietary memory cards up until the gamecube. The fact they went with a generic memory card for the DS was a break in that trend, but it was completely normal for everyone to have their own proprietary thing.
>>736022063i had an account and login for Monster Hunter multiplayer via the network adapter and its own services though
>>736024478keep coping nigger lol
>game has a game breaking bugThat'll be $60 + tax + delivery or gas money for the v1.1 reprint
>>736024439True but only 3rd party games required them, and n64fags only play first party nintendo games that had saves built into the cartridge. Tell you what though, fucking sucked how Turok 2 took up a whole ass memory card for one save file.
>>736022063Still have a perfectly working launch PS2. I still have it good.
>>736024439>It's ok because nintendo did it too
>>736022063but broooo we have the latest cawadooty and heckin sports games broooo
>>736024948Back then releases were spaced months apart. Most bugs were fixed when the game came to other regions. Japs were unpaid beta testers back then.
>>736022063we have it better the shitty ps2 can't even run GOTY astrobotKWAB
>>736025061>heckin sports games brooooHating sports titles is a sing of low IQ.
>>736025135Yeah. that’s why low iq “minorities” drop $300 just to play as their favorite athlete.
>>736025024it was how it was done back then, not that you'd know anything about it, zoom zoom.
>>736022063what is this Facebook ass post? “Like if you agree”
>>736022063>No patchesGame updates still existed, it's just instead you had to buy a completely new copy of the game
>>736024792I get that but some of those mandatory "add-ons" were more expensive than the console itself.
>>736025237Yeah it's totally different from buying a Mario game!
>>736025548maybe cuz you buy the game for a flat price and don’t waste 300 dollars larding as your heckin favorite athlete, or the fact it’s an actual game and not a larp for retards who can’t play real sports. Also >projection I don’t even buy nintendie shit, and even I’m smart enough to see the appeal in playing an actual fucking video game. Dumbass
>>736022063yeah I also saw that post on Xfuck off with your lazy thread
>>736025320I'm 33I know how it was done, doesn't mean I have to like it
>>736025464only in the case of the 64gb vita memory card and even then it still wasn't as expensive as the actual system itself. Still too high of course.
>>736022479Found the zoomer. 1MB was a lot at time time. We would only get 8MB or so flashdrives in the early 2000s, before that it was 1.44MB floppies.
>>736022228Have to agree with this. PS3 and Xbox were such a huge downgrade that I changed from a lifelong console player to PC
>>736022063>just the game>we didn't realise how good we had itYeah you only realise what you had after you've lost it.
>>736024439>The N64 also sold you memory cards.Hardly any games actually needed the memory card though. On PS1, every single game needed
>>736026167no it wasn't. PS1 memory cards had 15 blocks. That means, at MAXIMUM, you could have 15 save files. In reality it was a lot less than that, games can use more than 1 block for a file. For instance I believe Diablo and Hexen used at least 10 blocks, maybe more.
>>736027210practically everything that wasn't a direct nintendo game required one. Either way there's no fucking issue with memory cards. It was the solution of the time.
>>736022063>no patchesThat isn't a good thing.
>>736022063>no patchesyou telling me that games had to be perfect on the PS2?what happens if there were bugs or things didn't work out right?
>>736026860Bastard
>>736027840For the most part, it was. It meant there was actually an incentive to release games that were playable, rather than in the modern era where things are released completely broken with the expectation that the devs can fix things leading up to and post-release. Were there instances of bugs and glitches in games? Well sure. But IN GENERAL games were still released in a fully playable state. Much more so than today.
>>736026167Retard.
>>736027840Craziest thing, the game had minimal bugs, to a scale impossible to compare with today
>>736022063>no patches >no DLCAhem
>>736026860Fuck, I just lost.
>>736028124If you played this series, then you are mildly retarded and you don't really count.
>>736027920Then they were just bugged forever. Deal with it.
>>736028267Cope.
>>736027920>what happens if there were bugs or things didn't work out right?Breath of fire 3 was translated wrong in my language, it made a puzzle unsolvable...
>>736027663So? The capacity itself was still big, specially for early flash memory. Games using big saves had nothing to do with it. N64 controller pak was 256KB in comparison, while cartridges had 4-16KB on average (EEPROM), but shit like Starcraft 64 and Majora's Mask had 1MB FlashRAM, and these chips themselves were bigger than the entire PS1 memory card board.>>736028081no u
>>736022228>how do you do fellow millennialsfuck outta here zoomie. No straight millennial says "y'all" nor faggy expressions like "rinky dink", you homo
>>736028124>>736028267Ahem
>>736022063remember when local multiplayer was a thing?remember when LAN multiplayer was a thing?remember when private community dedicated servers was a thing?only games that still have those are fossils from the 2000s
>>736022228>y'all
>>736022850>you kept paying for onlineNo, that would be zoomoids like you that grew up with the PS4 and saw it as completely normal to pay for something that used to be free for people who weren't born into a cucked world.
