Anyone else notice that games released in the current decade remain the same price they released at (60-80 dollars) and only ever get reduced in price temporarily during sales even if they're years old?
>>
don't forget old games also removed from the market and get replaced by a "enhanced" edition which is usually just some hastily put together version of the game with 4K support or some upscaled textures or some other bs like that and the price is bumped up by 10-20 dollars

It's LITERALLY Dark Souls' fault. 3 is always $59.99 despite being 2 weeks away from being a decade old. It only gets discounts during sales (which max out at 50% off), and it obviously sold millions. It popularized the Nintendo mindset in the Steam ecosystem to retain false value.

It just looks more attractive when you can put a 75-80% tag on a game that's 70 dollars usually and lure people in with FOMO even if the game is years old. that's why they keep the base price high. if the game has a 20 dollars base price it's meh, but if it's 20 dollars after a high discount on it only for 3 days people will rush out to get it.

I honestly feel worse paying $30 for a game that's nearly a decade old than paying $60 for something that just came out. If a game has been out for longer than a year, it should get a BASE price slash that is then compounded further with discounts. The crazy part is that there are some indie games from two generations ago which still cost $15-20 and never go on sale anymore. Brother, that shit should be FREE.

Something I don't understand, why rdr2 is always in the $15 range while the cheapest souls game is double the price?

... that's how sales work, dumbo ;dd Why should the game suddenly become cheaper by default? It's the same work, same joy, same game - if anything, you should be happy that 60 buck today are worth less than 60 bucks back then, i.e. you're getting it cheap anyway.

Why? Times passes , and ... ? How is that relevant to the game?
