>All the pro fighting game players say it's great!>Riot are willing to invest into the fighting game community!>The control and feel of the game is great! Why didn't it catch on to the casual audience?
It looks like shit despite riot being a trillion dollar companytag bullshitthe piece of trash that us Vanguard
They said it was great because Riot throws a lot of money into esports and they thought they could get a cutIt was shit because it's a western fighting game. Only Japs have ever made good fighting games, except for Skullgirls I guess.
>>736024289League of Legend's main appeal over Dota was having sexy character designs vs Dota's generic monster designs. Why would I play Dota 2 when I could play a sexy pirate lady in league.Riot doesn't realise the fighting game community is oversaturated with tons of sexy designs and the community loves sexy designs and the character designs they used for 2XKO where HR Safe horny designs that won't get your attention when Street Fighter has Cammy and Chun Li
>>736024289I don't think any pro fighting game player believes it's great. They believe having League of Legends characters is free advertising. Unfortunately, they didn't consider that anyone who plays League of Legends will look at a tag fighter and turn away.
>>736024289doesn't look good -> Graphicsfags begonetag fighter -> tag-haters begoneRiot -> Securityfags begonefighting game -> casual audience begonenon-japanese fighting game -> fightan audience begonewho is this for?
>>736024289Shitty NameTag Fighter that has no storymode or other modes than just ranked fighting. Why would you want to play this?
>>736025341It's like people conveniently forgot how shit on SF5 was for having no game modes
>>736025453meanwhile Wonderful World barely works and basically just has "VS CPU, VS PLAYER" and maybe a training mode but I don't remember.Yet it's probably the best fighting game ever made by a solo dev
>>736024396lol no
>>736025737What the fuck is Xbox thinking by not supporting KI?
#1 with a bullet is they missed their release window by half a decade. If they released 2XKO in 2020 right around the time Covid started there's a very real chance that we'd be in Season 7 or 8 or whatever with 40+ fighters. Now with SF6 more popular than ever and Strive holding down the simple FG market, they've lost any and all momentum they might've had since the original announcement.#2 is the devs had no fucking idea how they wanted 2XKO to play and have gone back to the drawing board like 5 times rebuilding the systems from the ground up. Like a month after launch they tried to tell their dwindling playerbase "Hey we're going back and redoing everything" as if that's supposed to make people stick around. Hiring players to make a game does not work out in the long term, it's how you get shit like SFV and this.#3 is the lack of regular fighting game controls. Many people who like fighting games tried the two special button control scheme, said "EW" and never touched it again. Regular controls should be considered mandatory.#4 is there's too many fucking systems. The game's already a tag fighter and then you pile on a bunch of other subsystems that either shouldn't matter or are confusing. Even if the controls are simple there's so much shit you need to be aware of that casuals bounced off the game real quick.#5 is the characters are boring. Like 200 champions to choose from and they picked fucking Caitlyn? Like how about this guy, Bard. I've never played League but he's a way more interesting design than Dude With Axe.#6 would be the weird beta/alpha releases they did. Should've had the game come out on consoles and PC day one, broke up the initial playerbase too much.
>>736025889KI is at the bottom of the list of problems that the Xbox division has right now.
>>736024289The character rooster is just so bad. I'm tired of the time nigger being the face of LoL. wtf hes so ugly
>>736024289If the game were 1v1 I would have played it, but it being a tag fighter just killed all my interest in it. I want to learn one character and just play them. Not learn two characters, learn their unique combos together, and then do the same for my opponent's unique combo that will only get more extreme as time goes on. I still boot up SF6 and play it weekly, and while I eventually dropped Strive I still played it for a while.Just to be clear: I recognize people who are fans of tag games enjoy those aspects. I don't. Just being honest.
>>736026040>hiring players to make a game does not work out in the long termDepends entirely on who you hire.It took a couple tries to get there, but it worked out fantastic for Under Night.
>>736026040>#5 is the characters are boring. Like 200 champions to choose from and they picked fucking Caitlyn? Like how about this guy, Bard. I've never played League but he's a way more interesting design than Dude With Axe.Even if you played league, the character choices are weird as fuckDarius makes sense, but Illaoi or Braum are weird choicesThen a lot of characters picked were from Arcane
>>736024289>in dev for 10 years, as several of those laid off verified such claims>started as a fighter, which is fine if they fucked this up they could get any further>became tag fighter, which was not desired>doubled down>over half the roster is zoner shit>appealing to ease of access to new players immediately casualized it in a way that leaves nearly no room for skill to exist>weird handling of offline play for pc>console adoption is barely happening anyway becaue riot isnt known to be a console game oriented developerand even if you get passed the obvious parts, the game has a roster of less than 20 characters, launched with less than 15, which again is a fucking tag fighter. the lack of variety makes this not worth playing to begin with, let alone the tag part because now theres even less because its the same 4 fuckers every goddamn time and thats without balance coming into playi cant even say it was set up to fail, its like they did exactly the opposite of what everyone was asking for and are surprised its not going well
>>736025889Double Helix fucked off to make a failed MMO and there was no one around to replace them.
>durrr lets take our ASSFAGGOTS franchise and make an fighter, an mmo, a children's cartoon, a kart racer, a lego set...Just make a porn game already and recoup your losses
>>736025094>who is this for? They assumed they'd get both the League of Legends audience and the Marvel vs Capcom audience. Apparently, they didn't realize they wouldn't get either.
>>736024289they forgot to make content for the game
>>736024289People still care about League in the big 26?
NO TAHMNO PLAY
>>736024289same issue as MVCI, they have a huge cast of characters that people want to see in the game but they instead decided to focus on the arcane cast so they could try and boost those numbers as well.
>>736026709Illaoi and Braum feel the most like "we have the assets from Ruined King so let's try to shove them into every subsequent thing we do". I don't even mind them choosing to include Braum. . Hell, I think most people like Braum because he's Just Coolâ„¢. But he's dragged down because Illaoi is also in the game to make people question the inclusion.
The people who say they would play fighters if there was easy inputs were exposed as liars. Turns out they still suck no matter how simple you make it.
>>736024289>tag fighterliterally made for 5 people on the entire planet
>>736025889tbf Xbox did release a statement before where they talked about trying to get some devs for a KI game, but they didn't want to do and the ones who were willing to do it were shit.Real shame that the KI devs are currently working on that Invincible game, hopefully they go back to KI after they finish that.
>>736024289Riot sloppers don't like losing which is why they all flocked to a MOBA in the first place (the genre includes half a dozen ways to blame anyone but yourself for a loss.)This does not mesh well with fighting games (or any 1v1 in general which is also why RTS died as a genre). It was never going to work and I'm pretty sure not even the devs believed in their game but as long as they were on payroll they didn't mind
>>736028419Ironically, easy inputs made the problems worse. Now when you watch intermediate lobbies you see people stringing together flawless ToD combos with no drops because the game holds their hand, and the game devolves into dumb footsies and assist spam, waiting for the opportunity to collect your combo kill.
>>736028395I actually didn't mind Illaoi either since I played her a bunch in league, but even then it felt like a waste of a spot because she plays differently and she's also not the kind of character I play in fighting games
>>736024289Cause combo heavy marvel likes are the least successful fighters in the market. They were never popular, the only exception it's dbz but that's because of the ip itself.Of course the higher ups didn't know this, since fighters are a very little niche, and most probably the devs shared some hype moments from Evo to bait them into thinking that a tag fighter was a solution like valorant for counter strike. The real question is if riot will hire someone competent to fix it or not
>>736028670Everyone forgets that League of Legends only got big in the first place because people were getting tilted from losing StarCraft 2 matches and only having themselves to blame.
>>736028419They should've known this from their previous game Rising Thunder, which also had 1 button special moves and yet players were so bad at it, you didn't need special moves to win.
Tag fighters are niche
>>736029062>16 years later, /scv/ is still madLoL got big because there were no other good ASSFAGGOTS alternatives on the market that didn't require owning WC3 or BW and playing in their outdated engines. You had LoL, Dota2 which was invite only for a long time, and HoN which had a price tag (didn't it also charge extra money to unlock newer heroes on top?). For a few years those were your only options outside niche indie titles like Bloodline Champions which isn't a structured ASSFAGGOTS like the dota clones were. By the time we had Smite and Awesomenauts, LoL and Dota2 had already cemented themselves as the top dogs.
>>736024289>>All the pro fighting game players say it's great!post 3
>>736029962>American shill who sometimes say nigger and tries to downplay it>Jewish manlet shill who tried to pivot to another genre with Deadlocke>Jackie ChanThere you go
>>736026709isn't Illaoi used to fill the diversity quota?I don't see why they use her
>>736024289One of the worst rosters of all time
>>736029962Max loves it.
>>736034163The Youtuber who doesn't compete in fighting game tournaments at all? Yeah I expect him to make stupid decisions.
>>736024289The game launched with like 6 characters then asked you to do dailies to unlock the rest. Fuck that.
>>736036896also it's a tag fighter so 4/6 will show up in every game.
Clayton won
Tried it and it was just meta abusers. Everygame is the same Ekko Yasuo meta.
>>736036982That's worth mentioning. Even assuming every player wants a different character, 12 characters means you'll run out of characters after 6 people.
>>736024289>only baby mode controls no motions at all>tag setplay autism>concord tier character choicesI do not know who they made this game for
>>736024289>tag fighterlol>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>lol castlmao. only league faggots like to pretend the setting is any good.
>>736037568literally they wanted to cater so much to the evo audience that they ran off the casual fightan game audience. Apparently, their slot at Evo was very hype and the finals was good but everything else about this game is shit catering to the 1%
>>736024289>Development hell for almost a decade>12 characters at launch, half of the roster are made to appeal to Arcanefags than LoLfags in general>Overpriced cosmetics>Removed motion inputs to appeal to casuals but TODs existsAnd they think they can make an MMORPG in this day and age lol?
>>736027891>They assumed they'd get both the League of Legends audienceThey didn't even get that right. Almost half the cast are based from Arcane.
>>736024289Unlike most people here, I followed this game as closely as humanly possible.I could write a master's thesis on why it failedbut to put it as simply as i can, it's on the devs
>>736024289the stuff casual players can do this in this game is comparable to launch SFV
>>736040207That's stupid, but it's the case that both the actual game League of Legends includes shit from Arcane, and it's assumed anyone who likes Arcane will like League of Legends. That didn't happen, but it's a reasonable guess that "making a cartoon about my game will make it more popular!"
