does this have the best music ever put in a videogame?
>>
>>736026271
It's up there with MGS2 for deep house and techno influences.
>>
>>736026271
Deus ex outclasses it
>>
>>736026472
Extraordinary shit taste even for this board
>>
>>736026472
nah the music in PD is way cooler
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r2vJ0UorSCI
check out Escape X or Carrington Institute Defence. Alien Conflict slaps as well
>>
>Ace Combat
>Deus Ex
>Raiden Fighters
>Forza Motorsport 2
>C&C Red Alert 2
It's good, but not the peak
>>
>>736026884
NTA, but Deus Ex's OST made me feel things few OSTs have made me feel. Perfect Darks OST is kino, but not Deus Ex kino

Feel free to show me better tracks from Perfect Dark
>>
>>736027448
>Ace Combat
that good? I've only played 7 and I say only Magic Spear is as cool as PD's OST
>>
>>736027448
>Forza Motorsport 2
Licensed real music doesn't count, that's like saying you liked a movie soundtrack that was just top 40 slop
>>
No, Jet Set Radio has the best music ever put in a video game. Thanks for asking.

I never played Perfect Dark, is it worth a shot?
>>
>>736027929
Yes. There's an unofficial PC port that works great. If you still wanna play the N64 version, use the performance patch to fix the shitty framerate.
>>
>>736028061
This but the pc version is better with the mouse aim unless you use the emulator with the mouse injector.
>>
>>736027929
yeah go for it, it's one of the best games ever
>>
>>736028061
>>736028129
should I use the unofficial n64-to-PC port or the XBLA port? the main character is looking mighty fine in the xbla port
>>
>>736026271
in no particular order the OST GOATs are
>Perfect Dark
>Xenoblade Chronicles 2
>Ocarina of Time
>Splatoon 1, 2, and 3
>Halo CE
>Starcraft 1 + Brood War
>The Wonderful 101
>>
>>736026271
shit is not even better than goldeneye
>>
>>736028387
I imagine the PC port is the best, but XBLA is fine too.
>>
>>736028387
I'd go for the n64-to-PC. The original graphics are peak N64 technology and it's actually cool to see them in action. Also you can tweak the fov which is very welcome
>>736028401
>Starcraft
my man, I played that shit when I was 12 and I remember being impressed the moment the Terran themes started blasting
>>
>>736028387
>>736028547
Can you even use the mouse on the XBLA port?

I'd recommend that anon to play with a gamepad. game must become way too easy with KB+M
>>
I am still really curious of what the cancelled game would have been like. The gameplay of the trailers looked kind of fake. But I wonder if it would have been fun even if it hadn't felt like Goldeneye/PerfectDark.
>>
>>736028879
probably something like Hitman x Dishonored with a smattering of Splinter Cell spy tools
>>
>>736028841
Not on perfect agent, even on mouse its a good challenge and with pad you would rely on autoaim so much its easier than mouse
>>
im trans btw
>>
how did rare go from making great games in the 90's to nothing in the 2000's

The GE/PD team left to do Timesplitters, and everyone who remained wasn't being tardwrangled by Nintendo anymore.
>>

>>
>>736029330
>avatarfagging
Microsoft back then wasn't completely dogshit, they still had an american in charge Steve Balmer and not some pooa portapottio
>>
>>736029660
the only good game microsoft has EVER produced is Halo and that's because they had almost no say in its development
>>
>>736029660
Microsoft has always been shit, Xbox was always going to end up as it did today because they're owned by a monolithic monopoly maintained by the USA fed.
Anyone who thought Xbox had any future beyond the first few mediocre years of it was an idiot.

They made the PC gaming experience but for consoleretards and then bought a ton of studios and turned to shit while trying to kill PC, all while charging Xbox retards for shit that used to be free.
>>
>>736026271
No, it fucking doesn't. It's generic as shit. Just because Joana gives you a boner that doesn't mean this cover is suddenly good.
>>
>>736030059
kek nice reading comprehension retard
>>
>>736028964
I'm mildly bummed that it got cancelled. I'd be curious to see what game it would have turned out to be with or without Perfect Dark branding.
>>
>>736031234
I doubt it would good, seemed very generic.
>>
>>736030059
Did your bot malfunction, Ranjeet?
>>
>>736029530
why? KB+M would make every mode easier
>>
>>736028841
Surprisingly I found controller to be easier, the aim assist is super strong.
>>
>>736031939
>the aim assist is super strong
doesn't that depend on the difficulty level
>>
GE had good music but it was locked behind multiplayer lol so it was very Rare to stumble onto it.

Perfect Dark was a technical masterpiece when you consider it only had 8 MB to work with. It's crazy how much better it is to Goldeneye in just about every way, and I love Goldeneye. It really was Rare's swansong.
>inb4 Conker
Conker was edgy and funny, not very good from a gameplay perpective.
>>
>>736032982
Every game should have a normal tune, and then a 'X' version.

PD has two or three okay tracks
I say this as a kid who cried when we had to return our first goldeneye rental and spent countless weekend sleepovers playing PD multiplayer. Racing slayer missiles was kino

>>
>>736026271
The 360 version was good too.
There I said it.
>>
>>736034374
The only complaint I have with it is the sensitivity of aiming. It keeps moving after you've stopped moving the thumbstick. It's the only game I've played that does something like that.
>>
nothing like training against 8 darksims to become the ultimate dark sim
>>
>>736026271
Not even close.

Silent Hill, Metal Gear, Yakuza, Nier, C&C, and many others have it beaten.
>>
Mechwarrior 2 is another very strong contender for best OST evar.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JjyadOx2T0g
>>
>>736026271
The early levels are my favorite, I actually forgot this game goes insane and you end up fighting aliens on their home planet. Feels like two different games.
>>
>>736034290
Same team did the music for Deus Ex.

>>
>>736026271
Graeme Norgate did some great music for this, Goldeneye, Killer Instinct and TimeSplitters.
>>
>>736026271
reading this it just struck me that nintendo games don't have very good soundtracks

Streets of Rage 2

The stuff Yuzo Koshiro squeezed out of the Sega Genesis music chip is just insane.

This is a1992 game, I didn't even know I liked minimal techno/ dance/ tachno at the time, what, I didn't even know it existed.

That whole OST is just goddamn magic.

Thanks for reminding me OP

>music is dramatic mix of previous game's intro
Then you know shit's about to go down.

>>
>>736027929
I tried to replay it and the game still hold up, but trying to play a N64 with the Pro is a nightmare.
I don't understand why Nintendo won't let the better hardware fix the framerate of older games.
When Star Fox launched on the Virtua Console, it was ultra smooth but Nintendo launched later a patch to "fix" and let it running at 15 fps, like the original version.
They could at least let people choose.

For me it's Silent Hill 2 and 3
